People started skipping commercials, then bitched about commercials, and then pirated to avoid commercials, then tivo'd pirated material to avoid commercials . . . What did you expect?

But seriously, this isn't new. It's so old it's frightening that people are only realizing they're being sold to through product placement.

Grocery stores . . . the company pays the grocery store to be placed at eye level.

Smokers . . . companies used to pay (and still do) pay hot chicks to go to bars and clubs and smoke their brand. Or vodka. My neighbor does liquor promotions. That's all he does. Hires hot 18 year old to go pass out vodka.

Why? It works. Simple.

Manhunter has the worst foldger's product placement ever

Fringe last couple of seasons were running Ford and Nissan commercials. Product placement is here to stay folks. It's a commercial that can't be overlayed by local stations.

When they watch TV, people think that the programme is the product. What they don't realise is that they, the viewers, are the product, and they are being sold to the advertisers by the TV channel. Product placement should surprise nobody.

Microsoft nearly ruined Bones with the same kind of product placements for Bing and Windows Phone. It would have been only slightly more jarring to cut to the show producers giving Microsoft blowjobs for money.

Also - hilarious how he has to set a little cardboard thing under the Surface, because you can't use it on your lap otherwise.
