Jain - Dynabeat

moonsammy says...

That one had a LOT less Sony product placement too. Good lord...

I do like the song and video though, outside that element. And I can barely fault her for taking the $ if it helps her keep making cool music...

I love how her videos splice together.

Gorillaz - Humility

I mean, yeah, product placement can be annoying, particularly when it's incredibly in-your-face (looking at you, episode 2 of the Lost in Space reboot). Here though, 2-D was certainly going to be wearing some sort of headphones, so I can't fault them too much for making a bit of extra money off of drawing a little "b" on them.

I see Beats in a crap-ton of media, this site appears to document them pretty comprehensively and amongst things I've enjoyed there's Silicon Valley, Parks and Rec, and Avengers: Ultron. Also a fuck-ton of other music videos of, let's say, questionable artistic merit.

That same site also has the following products noted in this video: Puma sneakers, Casio watch, Adidas sneakers, and a Gibson guitar. There's also the blatant promotion of Pazuzu, but I think we can all forgive that.

The Adpocalypse: What it Means

dag says...

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

It's THE problem of content on the Internet and it hasn't been figured out yet. As you can rightly guess - VideoSift has a hand in this too - as advertising pays the server bills.

I don't know what the answer will be. Nobody likes ads really. The experience of watching TV commercial free, or Netflix spoils you for ever watching standard broadcast or cable TV.

I don't know what the answer is - I suspect it will be some kind of tightly integrated weaving of content and advertising, like product placement.

I'm thinking yeah. *commercial.

This is starting to bug me -- product placement inside of jokes. SNL is going to town on the revenue stream lately.

Just stop already.

The joke is cool -- but use "Mama Luigi's Family Pizzeria" -- same joke, no not-so-subliminal advertising

Gaga for Bowie

artician says...

I have never seen a clip of Gaga's shit that didn't feature the most blatant, stomach-turning use of product-placement. I've only seen two, and that was enough. I cannot believe it.

Why Britain Sucks At Product Placement

RedSky says...

What irritates me the most is product placement on news sites.

With everyone using AdBlock I can imagine they're struggling for revenue, but it's frustrating when you see say tech sites previously with good editorial commentary running "XX releases new product" every second post which all read like a press release. Or "xmas gift ideas" articles that are pretty much glossy ad inserts.
