GDP down for 2nd quarter. America is in a recession.

newtboy jokingly says...

economic depression— An economic depression is a period of sustained, long-term downturn in economic activity in one or more economies.

Why wouldn’t fake right wing propaganda step up to the plate for all of 2020 when GDP dropped 33% in one quarter and 3.5% for the year, unemployment exploded, and likely more businesses closed per day than ever in history?

Last year was ridiculously good, 5.7% growth (to compare, Trump barely averaged 1% growth), so it’s not surprising things swung the other way. This is technically a recession, but a very weak one unlike 2020.

I used to love Church: a dinner of Taco Bell burritos, a wooden pew, and the word of Christ. Clench, lean 15 degrees to the left, relax your sphincter and PUSH! The silence that is golden will last about 10 seconds before the retching and piling out the doors brings an end to today's sermon. That's when you snatch the collection plate and bolt out the back door.

I lost a major source of income when I became an atheist.

Did you know Taco Bell delivers? At least in Seattle they do. I have to wonder what life choices lead to the terminus of hauling two dollar food between source and the customer 25 miles away. Yeah, that $5 tip will more than pay for gas, upkeep, insurance and oil changes on that riced-out K car you've been driving since The Pet Shop Boys were still popular.

Also, "...blahblah whining and such..." -- look, if I want unfair criticism of a job well-done, I'll ask my clients to pay up. That's primo Gonzo humor you're tut-tutting and you paid exactly nothing to enjoy it. Y'know who else was a cheap ingrate? HITLER! Why ya gotta by like Hitler, Moonsammy -- IF THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME. I have my doubts on this topic, by the way.

Hey, what's Bob up to? I always enjoy a cheap laugh at the expense of the less fortunate.

(seriously dude -- I can hold 1:1 with a Clydesdale for an hour and have enough left in the tank to draw a standing ovation at Centurylink Field.)

I don't know why you felt the fart would be the prominent feature of the video. To me, the title only promised the sort of interaction which might feel mortifying in the early passions of young love, but seen within the context of a mature, stable relationship. It may not play well in Hollywood, or apparently Videosift (AHEM SIR), but it's the kind of deep, strong relationship to which we should all aspire.

(having said that, I too have tooted)

Ernest Tubb - Saturday Satan, Sunday Saint

bobknight33 says...

Saturday Satan, Sunday saint
Foolin' your neighbors
That's what you think
Readin' the good book
Singin' the hymns
Come Monday morning and it's back to a life of sin

Old brother Brown
All week he steals
Tells everyone
His big business deals
The deacon walks by
A dollar hits the plate
Tryin' to buy himself a ticket to the pearly gates

Old sister Rose
On the very first row
Been a-sittin' right there
Twenty years or so
Never hears a word
When the preacher speaks
Too busy talkin' bout the bad girl down the street

Saturday Satan, Sunday saint
Foolin' your neighbors
Readin' the good book
Singin' the hymns
Come Monday mornin' and it's back to a life of sin
This little song holds good advice
Though some people may
Think it ain't too nice
Well, if you're one
Who's wearing the shoes
Well, there's somebody watchin' and he ain't nobody's fool

Saturday Satan, Sunday saint
Foolin' your neighbors
Readin' the good book
Singin' the hymns
Come Monday mornin' and it's back to a life of sin
Come Monday mornin' and it's back to a life of sin

Back to the science of it. I wonder how much energy these oscillating plates can generate Wh? Their movements don't seem to be that much. Factor in the construction cost, damage/maintenance from salt water erosion, large fish bumping into it, the weather, etc. It might be feasible for small island communities/nations, but countries with a large landmass to coastal access ratio... its contribution to the overall energy sector might not be that significant. But every little bit of renewable, environmental risk-free energy helps, so, good stuff!

Lady Calls 911 On Cops Trying To Pull Her Over...

newtboy says...

Regarding the first story, I'm not pulling over on a deserted back road for cop cars with no license plates either.
She should have said she doesn't think they're real police and have them escort her to a police station.

Almost car jacked by Cartel in Nuevo Laredo.

Janus says...

Sounds good, but realistically then they likely have your license plate number and a grudge to settle.

EDIT:
Not to mention those other cars they were using to block the lanes, of course.

Skilled pilot lands 757 in small Honduras airport

SFOGuy says...

Lot of reasons to hate that approach plate---unstabilized and requires a lot of pilot skill...and then, if the pilot isn't skilled, stuff goes wrong.

Hong Kong's old Kai Tak---same thing.

The temptation is always to NOT stuff it into the ground on approach which overshoots touchdown---and then you're running down off the end of the runway...egads.
