Cry Cry Cry "Cold Missouri Waters"

calvados says...

http://lyrics.wikia.com/James_Keelaghan:Cold_Missouri_Waters

My name is Dodge, but then you know that
'Cause it's written on the chart there at the foot end of the bed
They think I'm blind or I can't read it
I've read it every word, and every word it says is 'death'
So, Confession - is that the reason that you came
Get it off my chest before I check out of the game
Since you mention it, well there's thirteen things I'll name
Thirteen crosses high above the cold Missouri waters

August 'Forty-Nine, West Montana
The hottest day on record, the forest tinder dry
Lightning strikes in the mountains
I was crew chief at the jump base; I prepared those boys to fly
Into the drop zone, C-47 comes in low
Feel the tap upon your leg that tells you go
See the circle of that fire down below
Fifteen of us dropped above the cold Missouri waters

I gauged the fire - I'd seen bigger
So I ordered them to sidehill and we'd fight it from below
We'd have our backs to that river
We'd have it licked by morning even if we took it slow
But the fire crowned, it jumped the valley just ahead
There was no way down, we headed for the ridge instead
Too big to fight it, we'd have to fight that slope instead
Flames one step behind above the cold Missouri waters

Sky had turned red, the slope was boiling
Two hundred yards to safety, death was fifty yards behind
I don't know why, I just thought it
I struck a match to waist-high grass, running out of time
Tried to tell them, step into this fire I've set
We can't make it; this is the only chance you'll get
But they cursed me, ran for the rocks above instead
I lay face down and prayed above the cold Missouri waters

And when I rose, like the phoenix
In that world reduced to ashes, there were none but two survived
I stayed that night and one day after
Carried bodies to the river, wondering how I'd stayed alive
Thirteen Stations of the Cross to mark to their fall
I've had my say, I'll confess to nothing more
And I'll join them now, those that left me long before
Thirteen crosses high above the cold Missouri waters
Thirteen crosses high above the cold Missouri shore

Shenandoah, I long to see you
Far away, you rolling river
Oh Shenandoah, I long to see you
Way down the way, across the wide Missouri

I fly to Phoenix from Canada every year, and do a ton of shopping because the goods are so cheap there in comparison. Every year one item goes missing. Usually something minor and not personal, but every year it happens.

Flight of the Conchords - Feel Inside (and stuff like that)

That was sensationally cute, adorable and awesome.
Also, other than TFotC + Murray, I recognised no-one else in that, none whatsoever.
I guess the same would be for an Australian Red Nose Day song and the rest of the world not knowing our local celebrities.

That's because some of them are a bit rubbish tbh.

But the guys from the Phoenix Foundation are great.

Peter Kay - Funny Song Lyrics

robbersdog49 says...

Peter Kay is one of the funniest men alive! I love that he makes the everyday stuff funny. He's not a shock comedian, just a very funny man. It seems that to be a popular comic these days you must be offending someone, it's refreshing to see that isn't the case. Phoenix Nights was one of the best shows ever.

The Master -- Full Theatrical Trailer

Boise_Lib says...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1560747/news#ni32418388

It's always been known that Paul Thomas Anderson's (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood) The Master was in some way inspired by the life of L. Ron Hubbard, the man who not only gave the world the cinematic gift that is Battlefield Earth [sic (puke)], but who founded the Church of Scientology. The first two teaser trailers for the film, however, played coy with how strong that connection is. They've simply been relatively plot-free (but beautifully shot) glimpses at the troubled life of an alcoholic played by Joaquin Phoenix.

This full trailer, however, gives us our first substantial look at the eponymous figure inspired by Hubbard, played in the film by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who seems to be having a spot of trouble trying to recruit and keep Phoenix into his organization.

Tom Cruise was not happy about this film when they gave him an advance viewing.

Thanks, Sarzy. I will be waiting for this one.

Did not want to confuse the title with " part 1 excerpt" would not have fitted and less of these monkeys would of even looked at it if they had to read more than a couple words in the title.

All in all I wanted to post it for the light show and sounds.

Weird, I didn't hear any chord progressions that resembled "Love Like a Sunset". I could be wrong, of course.

Big Audio Dynamite - C'mon Every Beatbox

shuac says...

Huge BAD fan here. The BAD lineup from the 80s (Jones-Letts-Williams) is such a great combo and a culmination of Don Letts' efforts at the Roxy to fuse punk with reggae. And Jones' love of hip hop and Clash alumnus status made him the obvious frontman. 1989's Megatop Phoenix is BAD at their very best. Great band.
