I never knew Pete Holmes until his incredibly annoying X-men spoofs. Since then I have watched a number of his standup gigs (more awesome than not), and I've developed a real appreciation for the guy. You can't really fake this kind of earnestness and humility.

Agreed. I don't hate Pete, but his annoying personality is not my cup of tea. (Although, admittedly, I did laugh at him a little in this video.)

Ronda's an awesome fighter and has an ethic I respect. I liked her in The Ultimate Fighter, despite that many people now hate her after that.

UFC 168 was her best fight. Unfortunate how unexpectedly and abrubtly UFC 170 against Sara McMann ended. Definitely looking forward to her next fight. I hope she learns to block and dodge punches. She's doing great with her stand-up considering she's a judo practitioner, but she's taken quite a few head blows in those last two fights. If she doesn't start defending herself from those, one of them is going to knock her out.

I first heard Pete do this bit on his Podcast. It was an audio recording from the UCB theater in New York. He says it is an early version of the joke. Comparatively, the video version seems like he was going through the motion. The video also seems to be edited and the audience wasn't responding the same way. I'm not saying this was bad, it just wasn't as good as the UCB audio version. See for yourself, he plays the bit at the beginning of this podcast:

Oh, man that was disturbing.
..and if this doesn't convince you that it isn't easy to dig yourself out after an avalanche.. remember that in episode S02E16 "Out in the cold", MacGyver was buried in an avalanche, and couldn't get himself out. Good thing Pete is such a good friend and wouldn't let the rescue team stop looking until Mac was able to fashion a blow gun from his ski pole, and a signal parachute from his bandana and a zipper pull.
