New, full trailer for Avatar!

I have been looking forward to this for a long time. James Cameron is always on the cuttin' edge! However, I'm looking forward to the sequel where Pandora become the new free world and the Na'vi open a lucrative casino operation.

For the old-timers: Should Choggie be allowed back in the sift? (User Poll by gwiz665)

blankfist says...

Who doesn't want to open the pandora's box of trolls?

I think a lot of us have rose colored glasses when looking back on choggie's history. I do, too. He was the first Sifter to reach out to me when I posted my first video. He could be funny and posted many great videos. But we're failing to remember his darker side: the choggie who begged for the ban and never manned up to an apology. Not once.

I don't fault him for being rude, crass or trolling. Everyone knows I can be all those things myself. I fault him for his wanton disdain for the site rules, for which he broke more than any Sifter's share. I fault him for his hurftulness and pettiness. I fault him for discarding many videos and also going on reckless downvoting sprees.

To those who believe he is somehow self-improved and rehabilitated by his long compulsory vacation from the Sift, I think he has you duped. His letter to rasch187 above even shows how he refuses to take responsibility for his ban, and instead blames it on failures of the "written word" and miscommunication. If you allow him back, he will most likely be good for a while, but he'll make it his mission to annoy and bait those who dislike him. He has an axe to grind and will try to make some of our lives less enjoyable.

Even as a new incognito account, he couldn't help but take a couple subtle potshots at some of us, as witnessed here and here. He's baiting. Don't be tricked by his sheep's wool.

Secret World - Milkshake Ruining Trailer

Xaielao says...

It's not your typical MMOG mind. This isn't going to be WoW in modern days. It's an MMOG called The Secret World (which btw has had one of the most enjoyable puzzled based viral information campaign ever.) TSW is set in the modern world (Specifically the hubs of NYC, London and Seoul), it has no classes or levels. It is a skill based sandbox MMOG with a premise that is part World of Darkness, part Call of Cthulhu and part Shadowrun. Legends and myths are real, and in the arctic a pandoras box has been opened, bringing the beasts that stalk the darkness of our nightmares into reality.

The fans like myself are expecting some initial details of the game beyond its premise and the fact that it has no levels or classes, at PAX, with is about a week away.

He makes a reference to Under a Killing Moon, that was an awesome adventure game with spectacular graphics for its time! Loved it.

Yeah, I have fond memories of those too, I remember paying a couple hundred dollars to buy 4 more megabytes of RAM so I could play Under a Killing Moon in all it's glory. But there have actually been 5 Tex Murphy games so far. If you're feeling super nostalgic, the sequel to Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive, was just as good. And the creators have hinted this year at a revival of the series.

Man, I need to update this library. Too much Pandora has allowed it to... rust.

Wow, Pandora's first "match" couldn't have been weirder..."The Boy with Two Hearts", by "The Boy Least Likely to". If there was any resemblance there, I couldn't hear it.

A couple more not so good matches, and one by the Kills. Then we get one I've heard once or twice before, "The Ting Tings"...and there's actually a similarity, although The Kills are far more interesting, IMO.

I think Pandora's just getting weird lately...their matches seem to be far sloppier than they used to be. OTOH, that may not be all bad, I'm hearing a lot more new stuff than I had been.

i wa sjust on last fm and they said it sounded like the yeah yeah yeahs and the band you heard the other day, BRMC.

I can feel another Pandora station coming on...I'm really curious to see what other stuff Pandora thinks sounds like this. I'm leaning strongly towards D&B, even though that's not a bass he plays...he still plays it like one (mostly). Although the "sort-of-beatboxing" they do in some spots doesn't really fit anything I've ever heard.

None of that matters though, the only important thing is, I like it.

Again, thanks!

It has been described as post punk yuppie indie rock with a base of dance and electronica. So.. you're right!

In reply to this comment by Stormsinger:
What the hell kind of genre does this fall into?

I can hear similarities to d&b, although it isn't. And it vaguely reminds me of LCD Soundsystem, although I couldn't pinpoint why. Same with several electronic sub-genres...although it doesn't appear to exactly fit any of them either. Does it get it's own genre?

Why oh why are you doing this to me? My budget can't handle this influx of new talent!

The Offspring perform "Gone Away" at Woodstock 1999

i played this song for my 8th grade drum "final" test. heh. some other kid drummed to More than i feelin... i was shamed. then again, i went on to play in a couple of bands, one of which you can listen to on pandora. suck on that doug.

ah dexter .. when i saw them at the moore in seattle.. he had a leopard print suit on... thats a lot of suit, he's a big dude.

they brought the FATHER of the guy who sang the "you gotta keep em seperated"... but he totally FUCKED IT UP.... lol... no timing. he started to talk when he should have already been on "seperated"... they took the responsibility away and then laughed about it after the song. hehe.

and those are my offspring stories for your brother.

Warning Shots by Thievery Corporation

I'm not too impressed with the video, but I just love Thievery Corporation, thanks to pandora.com. They are single-handedly (four-handedly?) responsible for turning around my opinion on very concept of DJ-as-musician.

VideoSift 4.0 Roundtable (Sift Talk Post)

DigitalAlloy says...

I noticed something while posting vids on facebook. They have a search for YouTube videos exclusively if you want to post on someone's wall. Could someone make an app for facebook that posts through the Sift? Currently I find the good videos on VideoSift, and then switch over to Facebook, then search for the video again. It would be sweet if there was a "one-click post" or something. Also, an app like the scrolling top-15 gadget or something could be cool.

The Google-Feed-scrolling-top15 gadget: When I click on it, it directs me to videosift away from my google page, instead of opening up a new tab.

>> ^Deano:
Power up playlists. Make them searchable, give them metadata so I can find one on a given subject (there must be zillions). This would also prevent me making one that's already covered.

It would be so cool to have a running random playlist of videos. Like the video version of Pandora or Deezer.
