Thanks yep I have trouble sometimes with stuff thats good to listen to and then they stick something in the visual thats like... really? lol>> ^oritteropo:
I feel really bad now... I watched the mashup really wanting to like it, and actually the music works rather well, but I thought the headshot was a bit gratuitous 5 seconds cut out and I would vote for it. It has 9 votes already, I'm sure it'll make it.
Instead, I'll promote two other vids of yours tomorrow, or just later tonight if I get impatient

Thanks lol Apparently the sift fairy visited earlier today, I left and came home and had gold and actual votes on stuff

Congrats on gold :
I'm at work at present, but will check it out tonight. It's already got 7 votes, I don't think it was going to be stuck in pqueue purgatory forever anyway.

Fox News Latest Attack on Obama
like Cenk said, politicians on both sides ROUTINELY take quotes out of context.
But that is pretty beyond the pale. The out of context quote is 180 degrees from what he actually said.

Pale Kid Rapping: Difference is the differences
I know him from this video.
Nicolas Cage Does Nicolas Cage.
I just realized how pale Nicholas Cage's original skin color is... LOL LOL
WTF?! Indian Vagina lightener: Make your vagina more white!
>> ^alien_concept:
I dinnae geddit?
In India (and a number of other countries), they have skin whitening products to make themselves more pale, they aspire to be more western in appearance, as being more western-like is a status thing, more like the rich.
Which is damn sad.
Now this is just fricking insane, it's not bad enough that she's whitened herself everywhere else, apparently now she depressed because her vagina just isn't pale enough.
It's sick, sad, and just so wrong. Damnit women of colour other than pale white, be damn proud of it, love it, relish it
"The Thing" In Two & A Half Minutes.
>> ^smooman:
the prequel is fucking awesome btw, perfectly sets this one up
The prequel was better than I expected, but far from awesome in my opinion. Yeah, the very end bit set up the proper movie well and I'll admit, the way they set up the dead creature they found was cool, but overall it pales in comparison to Carpenter's The Thing, especially in suspense and atmosphere
Carl Sagan - The Humans
I totally dig these Sagan videos, but they can be slightly misleading: they're often mash-ups, not continuous excerpts, and the editing sometimes introduces implications that aren't found in the books themselves. (This one opens with a few lines from Chapter 5 of Pale Blue Dot, then skips back to a few discontinuous lines from its introductory chapter.)
Rep. Franson compares food stamp recipients to wild animals
QM trolls again and misses the point.
The woman paints those who need assistance as animals...as sub-human. and that beyond the pale and against what this country is about. Say what you will about the merits or lack thereof of the welfare system but in true QM fashion, the woman attacks (and demonizes) the person, not the idea, and once again....fails.
Now if you want to have a reasoned discussion about how to effectively raise people up and eliminate waste in the welfare system, I'd be all for it. I'd would welcome a discussion in the disparity the cost and potential waste caused by the welfare system vs the cost and potential waste of say...tax cuts to the rich...another form of welfare.
But @quantumushroom is incapable of making reasoned arguments.
How Digital Is Your World
>> ^Peroxide:
Cell phones are immoral, from the slave labor mining of precious metals to the sweat shop assembly, to the toxic waste shipped back to china.
Your sentiments are cliche and your herd mentality a detriment to the global herd.
Cell phones are not immoral. Slave labor mining, sweat shop assembly and toxic waste pollution are definitely immoral, but don't confuse the ends with the means. Our desire for cell phones may not justify the immoral actions used to produce them, but that doesn't mean the cell phones themselves or our desire to use them, is wrong.
As for the poem, technology is amoral. It is a tool, which can be used to enslave or enhance your life. Would he have said the same thing about the printing press?
I have acquired knowledge, discovered art and laughed at the world (and yes those things have equal value) on this site alone, and that means the internet makes my life better. I have had visceral, collaborative, experiences in online games I could never have in real life (at least, until the zombie apocalypse hits).
But it's a part of my life, not the whole. Guitar hero doesn't compare to actually playing guitar. SSX has none of "oh crap, I've overcooked this and now I'm really gonna hurt" adrenaline rush of actually snowboarding. As much as I love taking down a room of thugs in Arkham Aslyum, it's a pale shadow of the intricacy of martial arts.
So yeah, take what you want from the web, but go have a beer with some friends every now and then
