Tastes like chicken

transmorpher jokingly says...

Aww how cute. 2mins later you eat her cousin a in burger.... #carnist logic

I'm just kidding I did the same thing for 35 years. I'm not pointing fingers, just trying to get ya'll to think about how it makes no sense

Sad thing is she's next on the menu going by her ear tag. Kind of weird actually how the farmer is filming them play one minute but then sends them to be brutally killed afterwards.... Do you love them or not farmer?

Obama, Mueller and the Biggest Scam in American History

newtboy says...

"I don't live like liberals in a 5000 sq. ft. mansion." Lol. Yeah, because clearly average lefty liberals are the conspicuous consumers building Mcmansions, not those pure of heart selfless angels who put people before profit and find ostentatiousness ugly on the far right. *facepalm
So yep, he's a snarky lying tool or a total delusional nut job. You pick.

Either way, it's not worth my worthless time to watch for 36 minutes to come to the same conclusion....that he's just another hyper partisan liar making up any irrational nonsense he thinks excuses Trump. He tipped his hand in under one minute.

White House revokes CNN reporters press pass

newtboy says...

I have no passion for any hyper biased sources, which is only one reason I won't watch Fox, the other being every time I do it seems it takes less than one minute for them to stray from the truth and go off on some hypothetical pathway based on nonsense, and I just won't intentionally give professional liars and Trump cheerleaders any of my attention or views.
Fool me once, shame on..shame on you....Fool me....you can't get fooled again.

Also, I'm not looking for a debate about CNN's lawsuit over security clearances/press credentials being used as political cudgels by immature "leaders" with unstroked egos, I'm not a lawyer and even they likely don't have much more than opinion on this subject, it's so unique....but I do think it sets a dangerous precedent, one that would have sent the right into violent fits had Obama banned Fox hosts after directly calling them the enemy of America for years, and one that may come back to haunt them in 2 years. Please recall how Fox treated Obama who still gave them one on one interviews where they were even ruder to the delight of the right, before casting aspersions at a political rival's character. Those in glass houses....

Try to subdue your passion for Lefty news sites only and try to pay attention.
Also I will give CNN credit for their telling of the tale which is is pretty accurate as to what happened.
Note this is Bob Woodward.
Not some far right nutbar.

White House revokes CNN reporters press pass

Briguy1960 says...

I would disagree on your description of the news media as it stands today.
I refuse to call it unbiased when I see an agenda,
an obvious agenda to discredit Trump at most anything he does.
CNN isn't the only trashy one.
I stick Fox in there as well but both have moments of clarity when they do simply report the news without adding their own bias to it or even editing out certain parts to make it look worse.
As an example I used to hate that Gutfield character on Fox News but anymore I find I agree with him on the insanity going on.
He has made several jabs at Trump as well.
How can you not call CNN fake news when the majority of their programming is all about Trump in a negative light?
The day of the mass shooting of Jews CNN said one minute they needed to try to cool things off with Trump etc and the next I knew they were right back bashing him.
I'd say about half an hour tops they held off the bashing.
If you are insanely jealous of Trumps winning ways than I can see how you may think CNN is legit.
Acosta wasn't even close to being civil.
Watch the original clip again and see how long he grandstanded for.
He does this far too often.
If you are that dense you need Jim Acosta to harass the President to show you what's up then I feel bad for you.
He could be much more effective if he was more professional and probably a much greater thorn in Trumps side.

A journalist's job isn't just to sit there and passively report what Trump says to you - that would be no different than any official party propaganda. Move to North Korea if that's what you want from your reporters. The media IS the conscience of any democracy, and it is their job to hold Trump accountable for his brazen lies.

That is why the first thing any fascist, communist, and/or dictatorship does to consolidate power is to attack the media and end free press. Trump is doing the same, lying to gullible people like you to discredit any news source that doesn't work in his favor. His lies seems to have worked on you because somehow you think CNN is the "trashiest", when there are things like Fox, Sinclair, and Breitbart, which are no longer news but have moved fully into the realm of blatant propaganda.

And it's laughable that Trump supporters are now crying for respect, when they showed no such thing to Obama. Just your every day Republican hypocrisy.

Vox: Why gamers use WASD to move

Mekanikal says...

An old EQ tale:

I was invisible and running through the Karanas one day when I noticed a young gnome near the gypsy camp. He was fighting a lion and though it looked like he would win the battle, being a fellow gnome, I decided to help the guy out.

I targeted the lion, clicked on my mesmerize spell, then started to type: "I'm mesmerizing the lion for you." I got as far as: "I'm " when I remembered that I had replaced my mesmerize spell with an Area of Effect mesmerize spell... and that I was standing next to an NPC enchantress. Gulp.

My movement keys are mapped to "w a s d" so I frantically stabbed at my keyboard, trying to MOVE and interrupt the spell.

I forgot that I was in typing mode.

The gypsy enchantress didn't like my attempt to mezz her so she promptly charmed me [IE Mind control] and made me go after the gnome I had been trying to save. I watched in horror as my peace-loving character, knife flailing like a crazed sushi chef, chased the little guy down and stabbed him to death.

I found my victim later and apologized profusely... I even gave him a nice weapon and a piece of armor. He was great about it, and laughed when I told him what happened.

He said he didn't know WHAT was going on. One minute he was fighting a lion, the next minute a strange gnome appeared out of NOWHERE, announced: "I'm wwwaaaddd", then sliced him up like Freddy Krueger.

Laxatives fed to Seagulls on the beach

StukaFox says...

I don't wanna be a 24kt dick here, but I fucking HATE seagulls.

Seagulls and Canadian Geese are both the assholes of the avian world and fuck 'em both. God was in a shitty mood when he created these flying abominations. Oh, and pelicans. Yeah, fuck them, too. A pelican took a shit the size of a dinner plate on my (at the time) brand new '97 Z-28 Camaro. Right on the fucking windshield, too. I mean, one minute, I'm enjoying myself at the beach and the next minute I'm looking at a greasy green rotten-fish-reeking shit covering half my goddamn windshield. I have no clue what pelican anatomy looks like, but they must be 99% rectum and 1% ill intents. What a wonderful time to discover I was outta windshield wiper fluid, too. Two little squirts and then my wipers were just smearing semi-digested fish across my windshield. Oh, that FUCKER! I know which one did it, too -- it was the one sitting on a post like three feet away laughing at me. Oh, sure, I could have beaten it to death with a tire iron, but then *I* would have been the one in trouble. You can't ticket a pelican for taking a massive dump on your car, but beat one to death with 2 feet of galvanized steel and you're the one who has to explain it all to a judge.

People feed those rancid fuckers, too. I hope the next cocksucker who tosses a Ritz in the direction of a pelican is staring at the sky with mouth agape when the damned thing decides to void its football-sized ass. That'd be karma right there, and fuck all the people right now going "that's not how karma works!" They can just start putting their Dharma-believing asses to work cleaning my windshield with their tongues.

Please forgive me: I've been drinking for the last six hours and I've gotten maybe a little feisty.

Digital Hygiene: How We Might've Fucked Our Attention Spans

Digitalfiend says...

I was born in the late 70s and had the fortune to experience the early days of personal computing and the internet via BBSes. The biggest issue I've personally experienced with the modern internet is the ease at which you can get side-tracked by deep links. I've lost count of the number of times I've started researching something work-related in the evening only to end up linking through two or three related articles and ending up on a YouTube video about the latest game trailer or whatever.

I've also noticed that my reading habits have changed. Instead of reading articles in their entirety, I will, at times, read a few sentences to get the gist then scan ahead to continue reading. I never used to do this but it is something I've caught myself doing with greater frequency over the past couple of decades. This has tripped me up a few times where I've had to go back and read the information again. I wonder if children that have grown up with the modern internet and its web of distractions (pun intended) are even worse off.

Maybe our brains are trying to adapt to a new way of gathering and processing so much disconnected information (e.g. one minute you're reading about a physics algorithm the next minute about screaming space goats). Perhaps it is a way to contain information overload and only retain what is useful?

The internet is an AMAZING invention and something everyone should have access to and be taught how to use effectively. As was mentioned above, you can pretty much teach yourself anything using the internet. The challenge is staying focused and sifting through all the ads, fluff articles, and random garbage that you get bombarded with every time you browse a website.

CNN anchor reads Survivor's Statement on air

newtboy says...

Yes.
It's as if he doesn't understand that it takes less than one minute to ruin someone's life. Would he grant the victim 20 minutes with his unconscious son...wife....daughter to do as she pleased with impunity? She could rape torture and murder them all in 1/4 that time, but because it only took 20 minutes that would mean it's OK? The "20 minutes of action" defense was just insane, much more insane that it WORKED!

What I saw said there are minimum sentencing guidelines for the crimes he's been found guilty of that should have him in prison for 6+ years....how can the judge ignore those guidelines legally and give him 6 months in county jail, which means he'll actually serve 2 months or less and NEVER see prison. That seems like something he can't legally do, and something that hopefully will have him removed from the bench, because he clearly doesn't belong there.

@bareboards2, can you post the transcript in the description or as a comment please? I heard all I could of her eloquent and horribly depressing victim statement, but it was definitely worth reading for those who have not.

Add to that the father being upset his son is being punished for "20 minutes"... those 20 minutes ruined this girl's life. He should have been given several years at minimum, then have to worry about his being a sex offender for the rest of his life. I don't get why the concept of consent is so hard to grasp... if she's not able to consent, because she's too intoxicated (be it via alcohol or drugs, even if of her own free will) to consent, the answer is no, even if she'd have likely said yes when not. Of course no also means no... It's really not that complicated. She's never asking for it... learn to control yourself. Masturbate if you can't control yourself. It's not that hard.

Dog Saved From Euthanasia When Vet Finds Paralyzing Tick

jimnms says...

It must be rare in Canada it was only found one minute before killing the dog. I worked at a vet one summer in high school. I saw two dogs come in paralyzed, and the first thing the vets did was check it for ticks. One dog, as soon as they removed the tick, the paralysis was gone and it was jumping and running around so happy.

I guess they can be forgiven, not too many cases of paralytic ticks up here I guess.

Badass 9 Year Old Completes Navy Seal Obstacle Course

Sagemind says...

Hi Folks - I feel the need to share my thoughts on this a bit more

"NOW THIS" videos are exclusively created to get clicks for this company.
Their sole business model is to post on social media and encourage people to share their content for marketing purposes. (Facebook and Twitter) so they can get viral hits.

They don't have tons of hits on their YouTube page because most of their hits are on Facebook with over 5,304,668 followers over the last two months
https://www.facebook.com/NowThisNews

And the main part to note here is they have "no original content" whatsoever.

They make their profit by stealing other people's video content and applying a template, and editing the crap out of things to crop it into a one minute video. They often cut out the sound, and ad the overlaying text as part of their template.

I'm a VERY STRONG believer of supporting the content providers.
"NOW THIS" doesn't create any of their own content. They steal it outright.
I'm really sensitive to theft from content providers, especially when the stolen content has only one purpose and that's to reserve it as their own content for the sole purpose of company profits.

As a member of the SIFT, I believe our job is to sift out the bad stuff and vote up the great videos. These guys don't create even mediocre videos. They grab any story they can and go for the emotional grab to catch people and get them to re-post. There is no quality to these videos of theirs.

You should be able to set the start time, the parameter is start=(number of seconds from start)... so to start one minute in you need to add &start=60 to the other parameters.

It's not the official video but since it seems to be available worldwide, I replaced my embed with your backup. Thanks! Setting the start time to the beginning of the song doesn't work, however.

Excavator operator saves young deer stuck in mud

transmorpher says...

Even if the lamb has the best treatment in the world, to eat it, it has to be killed as an infant, it's only months old.

I'm not blaming anyone, I was just as oblivious as anyone else to all of this for most of my life, and that's why I like to point it out these days, and perhaps help someone just like the younger me to identify the inconsistencies in the thought (or lack of thought) process. It takes a lot of cognitive dissonance to see the beauty of a young deer and feel obligated to save her life one minute, and next minute eat something just as young and precious without even a single neuron firing about what had to happen to the lamb in order for it to end up on a plate.

People will stop for ducks crossing a round, and then go through a fried chicken drive through. People will spend 1/2 their lunch break admiring pictures of kittens, but eat a lamb or veal (and when you compare a lamb to a kitten they look very similar and just as cute).

If that younger me was reading this, I know I'd be getting angry and frustrated at this comment, ready to throw a barrage of counter arguments such as "lions eat animals". But that is only a good thing, that frustration, anger and annoyance is the logical side your brain fighting tradition and habit side. It's a good thing if it's causing you frustration, because it means you do have a logical side at least and even perhaps on a subconscious level the brain is trying to work out the inconsistencies
