Bill Maher talks to Richard Clarke about Bin Laden

This guy appears to be funny with his witty one-liners but it's the same language used in the diplomatic leaks revealed last year. I am amazed how these diplomats think in a uni-dimensional way. I know he had to crunch the intell and condense it in one sentence for the commander in chief, but gee....

Duke Nukem Forever Quicklook (yes it does suck that much)

grahamslam says...

I'm playing the game and enjoying it. First off, these guys clearly are trying to bash the game. I mean, who starts the level by running off the edge of a cliff and then says "see, this sucks". Then picks the scene with the elevator falling, and doesn't even pull the handbrake until the end and wonders why they die. The one guy hasn't even seen the game until his buddy shows him parts and he says "boy this is boring". No shit, it doesnt matter what the game is, if i'm watching someone else play, its going to be boring as all hell.

So the game runs great on my computer. Looks good too. I can't tell you what it looks like on a console, nor do I give a shit about consoles. If you are playing a fps on a console, you're missing out. Anyway, my load times average 3 seconds. I have detected no bugs or buggy play so far. It feels solid to me. I heard people complain that it had no music, but it does. Not so much as to be annoying, kicks in when it should, it gives you clues about when a big fight is coming and ends when you're done. The pacing is a little slow in some areas, but not enough that i was ever bored. There is a lot to look at in the world. Its populated with items and posters and whatnot fairly well. I felt like there was a lot of attention paid to the details in the world. There are a lot of things you can interact with, but i wish there was a higher level of interactivity and a little more in the way of physics on items.

I don't like the fact that you can't go off and explore everywhere, and the "secret areas" I found were simple with maybe one or two hidden objects stashed there. But then I played the "strip club" level. I realized that besides just putting strippers and boobs back into the game, that level is actually a fun little exploration level with more than one way and more than one area to find all the items.

I heard complaints that there is no mighty boot, but there is, it's just automatic now, it's used when it needs to be and I kinda like that. It's not overused and it feels powerful. Speaking of which, all the weapons so far feel pretty good and sound nice and beefy.

Dukes animations are pretty good (and his jump animation in the mirror is a cool throw-back to the old duke). I like when he gets thrown or falls down and gets back up, it looks good and makes me feel more like I'm playing as duke. The enemy animations are good. The non player characters are what is lacking in both detail and animation

I thought his one liners would get annoying fast, but they aren't too bad, some made me laugh a little. Some of the encounters are truly funny. Some are not.

I also heard some people say there aren't enough enemies at once, but I had many encounters with a lot of enemies so I don't know what they are talking about.

Overall I feel like i'm playing in a real world with enough attention to detail to not be too bland. I don't know how far into the game I am. I am taking my time and not just rushing through and I probably have a good 7, maybe 8 hours with it so far and I'm glad I bought it. I have no regrets and am having fun with it.

So there is my opinion of the game so far. I'm tired of people bashing games just because they think it's cool to do so. How about for once an actual in depth review of all the games attributes by someone who wasn't purposely looking to find as much negative that they could and exaggerate it.

And just as a side note, I actually played Diakatana from start to finish and once the patch was released and you got past the misquitos and frogs in the very beginning, the game was actually quite good (for it's time of course). Yet most people wouldn't know it because reviewers were trying their best to steer people away from it. I see duke getting bad reviews because its not the best game ever, so instead of a 7 out of ten (that's what I would give it so far, and I played a lot of games over the years), they try to make a point by giving it a 3 or something stupidly low.

They actually forgot my favourite "One Liner"
It came from the episode where they tested out the ancient battery, The build team (Then Tori, Scottie, and Kari) made a replica of the ark of the covenant, and hooked it up to a car battery.
Adam went in and touched it, got zapped, and Kari just stood there and said "Do you feel god?"
I seem to remember that was one of the very few times were Adam was shown being very pissed off. I think there is video somewhere of him in a Q and A were he mentions the producer that had put them up to that prank had been fired.

I actually remember the episode well, All of the build team actually tried it out hooked up to the car battery and each basically said "That's WAY too dangerous" and agreed not to use it on Adam.. however, for some reason, they decided last minute to use the battery, and Adam even said "You didn't hook this up to a car battery, did you?", to which they all reply "Oh..no.. I wish we had thought of that".

So he touched it, got zapped hard, and he did get REALLY pissed off. It's just that he swears, backs away, glares at them all, and Kari just smiles and says "Do you feel god?"

He then reemed them all the hell out, but for that brief moment it was hilarious.

Trump, "Obama May Be Greatest Scam In American History"

kceaton1 says...

Plutocracy anyone? Anyone?

Donald has been around for three weeks and went with the birther crap (to get his "base"; really pathetic); overnight he becomes the Tea Party front-runner and second place Republican (Tea Party members hiding behind a R). This should scare people as it OUTRIGHT shows that there is a huge amount of racism at play here.

It also shows us that the average intelligence is group oriented with very little concern for truth or even facts about Trump. Trump would be a crappy president for one character flaw that he has that is HUGE. He is insecure about himself. We're talking about someone that wears a hairpiece that makes Qaddafi look stylish...

Even when his business practices have failed he never once owned up to it and always found a scapegoat. All we can expect from him is a new Fox Reality show (not surprising with Fox's ties...), some new "one liners", his hairpiece coming off and flying through the air breaking Fabio's nose again, and the most self-absorbed/ego-driven president ever. He would eclipse Bush Jr. in a month (my wager).

P.S.- I noticed that he has a large tendency to flat out lie, but worse his Ego is the size of Jupiter and he creates lies to fulfill that ego. He literally believes that he'll jump in the chair and it will end... This is a nation-wide issue with a lot of people at fault and not helping. You have Republicans right now trying to shut-down the government so that Fox can spend four weeks talking it up (meanwhile Japan just had another quake at the 7.4 range); they did this to Clinton as well. They are completely useless and still people vote these morons in. We truly deserve our self-created fiasco. I hope it's good enough that we are NOT the number one power anymore, as Republicans hold onto that as though it's pre-ordained scripture. I don't think Trump realizes yet that the president, alone, has very little power--he seems to think that it grants you Godhood for four to eight years...

edit- My point about his ego showing up before they really even start the interview just watch the clip from about :44 to 1:05. He has a personality disorder, atleast! The Tea Party people need free funding for schooling as they need education BADLY... At 3:00 I thought he was going to go ahead and tell us how he belongs to MENSA and has been to MIT (on a tour, but those are just facts that can change, duh).

Zero Punctuation: Two Worlds II

kceaton1 says...

I agree with dismissing magic, it was a very interesting system to screw with for quite a few levels, but once you know two magic schools the "hard" factor that was in the game initially (like forcing you, as a mage, to find high ground and develop some useful tactical spells) became a complete slaughter. Then if I summon 8 guys to defend me I might as well sit down until their timer wears out (summoning needed to be powerful, but with a much longer casting time, longer shelf life, and a "slot" system depending on what you summon).

Don't get me started on Earth magic being completely overpowered and buggy to hell and beyond.

The item system, while at first seems neat, but even by level ten you realize that every RPG I've ever played extended and amplified their item systems over time. In Two Worlds you can metallurgically upgrade it then add crystals/stones to it to enhance it. This would have allowed for an amazing system, but again they spent minimal time and effort doing it--so it sucks.

The A.I. is a mixed bag. They do well at first, but have HUGE clipping and line-of-sight issues (archers and mages are happy to stand behind a rock and shoot at you: hitting the rock. Then many enemies get stuck in planer or clipping joint areas that have small gaps and IT HAPPENS A LOT! Most engines have dealt with this issue in some form (as it's been ten plus years to learn how to stop them; programmers still screw it up; yes, I know the engine is complicated, but give me the same game on Crytek's engine and I'll be much happier)...

The trade skills are alright have a little promise with them at least starting in the right direction, but as you level up they become useless except for ones you can do on the fly (mostly, metallurgy and fusion).

The rest of what Yahtzee said is correct. The game is buggy. The multiplayer is a let down (where the hell is open roaming or campaign playthrough?) The spell system is terribly broken in some areas (I'm looking at you Fire and Earth) and weak in others: Necromancy or as I call it Necropansies--you're forced to learn another magic or you'll die, unless you really love summoning and waiting the required 5 minutes per fight for a MINOR fight... But, again, the spell card system with maybe Magickas combo system together would make spell-casting an AWESOME experience.

Anyway, I would only suggest this game if you desperately need an RPG to play. If you've yet to play Torchlight play that instead. Otherwise, get Bulletstorm as the comic value and writing (Duke Nukem type one-liners and more) make it worth buying alone.; I hope Duke can live up to this--if it has full Physics I think it will. BTW, the Unreal Engine sucks, bad... There are a lot of games I've liked on it and it looks pretty, but the physics and map abilities leaves A LOT to be desired, BUT it is also a good engine in the manner that it's easy to develop for and very flexible in what it can do (Deathspank is an excellent example; same with Dungeon Defenders on the iPad). At this point though it is by far more a console engine than a PC one.

/My two cents and review for Two Worlds II, with a small peppering of Unreal Engine talk that has nothing to do with the review...

Chomsky on Egypt

quantumushroom says...

Way to post that pdf in every video about Chomsky, and hide when someone points out that its full of shit. Go back to posting inane, pun riddled one liners; your ad hominem attacks makes FOX news look classy and intelligent.

It takes less time to shoot a mugger than explain to him why his actions are morally wrong.

Facts are to liberals what DDT is to bugs. If you are over age 25 and still believing the likes of Chumpsky, you are one of those Lincoln referred to as "some of the people fooled all of the time."

BTW your "anti-capitalist" hero is worth 2 million dollars, which he hid in a trust to avoid taxation---taxation he demands for everyone else.
