Nuclear energy is the only way we can do it, we can run the planet forever and do things cleanly and more densely to leave more of our planet for wildlife.

The trouble is almost everything we hold as common wisdom about it is completely wrong, using breeder reactors have enough uranium to run the planet forever leaving almost no waste and removing the possibility of big accidents which actually aren't as harmful as commonly believed anyway.

We have thorium too, and many designs of each that can do the job. In fact we have a wealth of of options, but also a decades old and highly effective PR campaign from the fossil fuel industry to convince us otherwise.

I'd assume that the waste is worth more than the cost of the stuff that makes it come out so the consumer would 100% be willing to pay the added cost.

The companies make less because of no waste so they would logically resist this.

PLUS you can "bake" with the remnants and have some kick ass edibles! No waste whatsoever. WooHoo

So here's my *rough* mockup of something that I think could work...

Mini-thumbnails would be displayed for all currently active promotes (upto the sensible limit of 10). Clicking on the mini-thumbnails would make the area above swap to that video's larger thumb and details, and as you can see there is a 'tab' to highlight which mini-thumb you currently have selected.

Maybe the 'tab' could automatically cycle through the promoted videos until the user interacts with it?

The mini-thumb bar could not appear at all if only 1 video is currently promoted.

Maybe the other 9 unselected mini-thumbs could be darker to help highlight the selected one? (bit of javascript magic maybe, I dunno?)

Maybe hovering over a mini-thumb will instantly make it selected and the larger top part change to it, so you could scroll through them by simply hovering your mouse over them?

Maybe hovering over a mini-thumb, could bring up a small mouse-tip that has the title of the video...

Anyway, just ideas, and another possible implementation to discuss. The key to this one is that promoted videos are all visible... no wasted power points. And also, a fixed amount of real estate dedicated to promoted videos.

No waste left behind, except when there is -- consider the eons old refuse we're currently burning as fossil fuel. The reason so little seems to be wasted in the natural world is that something has evolved to use almost all of the available waste streams.

The video conflates two different ideas: the design life for a manufactured product, and consideration of how to handle that product at the end of its life. It's hard to imagine an iphone so perfect that it wouldn't be irresponsible not to plan for its demise at the time of manufacture.>> ^mxxcon:

This is why I love that I can remote on with my current job. No wasting time telling the client what to do and have them fumble about, I just take over and do it myself. Bliss.

Breeder reactors can transmute non-fissile Uranium to fissile Uranium. So that means you can burn up almost all the Uranium. This includes all the so called nuclear waste. This can also be burnt in a similar process, leaving you with virtually no waste.
