Amazing Cosplay - Comic Con Russia 2015
No sh!t!!! I had to stop and go back to make sure it wasn't actually him. I wonder if he does Di Nero impressions?
Some seriously good cosplay here.
many impressively resembling characters! especially that Loki looked like Hiddleston's younger brother.

I've been here 30 years and in the good ole days, it would snow maybe every year and a half. Lately, it has snowed every year, sometimes twice or three times. What is scary is -- the MOUNTAINS still aren't getting much snow.
It isn't much snow, but I have a very steep driveway that is in the shade of 20 foot tall laurel hedges. If I don't shovel it off, I won't be able to drive out of my garage for a week or so. So the thinnest sheet is shovel worthy at my house.
We're in trouble, this world. I think our species will survive, because we are very adaptable. But it is going to be ugly ugly ugly.
We as a civilization always looked to Nero, fiddling as Rome burned, as the ultimate in self-absorption and mental illness. Now we have a planet full of Neros.
It is bad. And getting worse.
About time, isn't it? Is it just a thin sheet or are we talking shovel-worthy amounts?
Weather is completely bonkers this winter. Southern England is drowning, Germany has 12°C (53°F), Austria/northern Italy has 2m of snow, central/southern Italy is drowning.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS - Official Teaser Trailer
I'm not expecting anything good out of this one. I mean, I didn't care for Star Trek (2009) either, but at least that one had some of the elements of what Star Trek was about. This looks like a run of the mill comic-book action movie.
I remember when Star Trek was about exploration, philosophy, politics, and discovery. Now it's become something much more mundane, and that's kind of sad, not just on the part of Hollywood, but also on the part of the general public, who can't seem to appreciate the deeper things nowadays.
Also, just because it's a movie doesn't mean you need to focus on some villain on a quest for vengeance all the time. Anyone remember Star Trek VI? I actually consider that to be the best of the Star Trek movies, with its deconstruction of the collapse of communism and how it affected those who lived in that era. Sure it wasn't as tight as Star Trek II, but it had a much greater impact.
Besides, whenever they try to do an amazing, new villain to rival Khan, they always forget to make the villain compelling and interesting. Khan had this advantage because of his background in Space Seed, whereas villains like Shinzon and Nero are bland and undeveloped. (Well, at least effort was made with Shinzon, but they failed to make him a compelling, sympathetic villain. Nero wasn't supposed to upstage the origin story of the crew, but in that case, was he really needed?)
Anyway, I've been kind of ranting about this with friends lately, and I guess that's spilled over to VS now. But that's my position, and I stand by it.
Django Unchained -- Trailer #2
Anyone know if Franco Nero, the original Django, has a bigger role in this than getting his name spelled to him in a saloon?

Poor @shinyblurry, methinks you grasp the straws too much. Ask the majority of Americans who America's N°1 enemy was during the Bush years, and you'll get "Bin Laden" or eventually "Osama Bin Laden". Hardly any (if any) would properly name him as "Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden". It's no wonder a first century writer and political activist writing against the person in power would use the name his audience knew.
I can't believe I actually had to spell that out to you (oh wait, yes, I totally can).
I would say you're the one grasping at straws here; is it that you will just believe anything anyone says that agrees with your preconceived notions about the bible? It doesn't say the number of the nickname or title of the beast, it says his name. More importantly, the number 666 will be so identified with the antichrist that you could use it interchangeably with his name and everyone would know who you were referring to. This clearly wasn't the case with Nero. Further, he didn't fulfill the prophecies which would identify him as the antichrist.

The point being that his full name doesn't add up to 666. Not only that but Neros original name was Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus. So arbitrarily picking out Nero Caeser as his name because it adds up to 666 and saying this is who John is talking about doesn't cut the mustard. This wasn't who John was talking about, because the man of sin has not yet been revealed. It was prophecy for the future, not for Johns present.

Who was the best Star Trek Captain? (User Poll by gorgonheap)
Ok, to address the Chris Pine issue. Lets consider that that first of all they are both portraying the same character. Second, that all of the Star Trek time continuity was utterly decimated, leaving it more then likely that people who had a family history in starfleet (i.e. Tom Paris, Kathryn Janeway, Will Riker, Geordi Laforge, etc.) are now at least bastard children or have had their DNA completely obliterated by Nero. (Not to include all the other continuity problems that the crap spin off Enterprise introduced.) Third, he's only done one movie, all the others, including Luke have done multiple movies or a series. Until the sequel with Chris Pine comes out I don't really see him as having a command until it's been more then 24 hours. Fourth, He was appointed by the previous captain, and considering his incredibly brief Starfleet training I'd have a hard time believing any Admiral in thier right mind would continue to let him remain in command of what is now Starfeets only ship. Fifth, I still haven't forgiven J.J. Abrams for the ending of Lost or the hour of my life that I'll never get back after Cloverfield.
