There are many here and many gone to whom I sorely regret not extending the regards I have, and had, for them.

Not, by any means, are you least among them.

I hope and trust you are well, happy, and prosperous, Adrian.

I wish you the happiest and the most fulfilling of birthdays, and all days.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISTRESS!

Yours in fondest of regards,

I really don't have a problem with it, provided all parties are consenting.

It's funny, Stephen Fry was talking about this on a QI rerun I watched last night.

If you're a man and you have a wife and family, and you lie to your wife, have a mistress and maybe even some kids with her that's perfectly legal. But if you're honest and say to both women "you're both lovely, I'd like to marry you both", if they agree, you go to jail!

The key is genuine consent:
All parties must be fully aware and capable of making the decision. Therefore, all are adults, there's no coercion, all are free to back out at any time, etc.

But yeah, if that's all good, go nuts.

Just to stir the pot, would you all agree that polygamous marriages between consenting adults should be legal?

(Btw, my own opinion is that as long as it involves consenting adults, have at it. Whatever it is.)

World's Dumbest Cop

Lawdeedaw says...

Are some laws not unjust in and of themselves? Not that I disagree with you at all newtboy, in fact I don't. But I do not agree that we should follow all laws to their original intents. (And yes, when you say law enforcement should always follow the law, which you have, you create a culture where others believe it, even if you understand the nuance.)

Now here is the crux. I kind of do see Gorilia's point to some degree but not in the same madness. If a cop goes home and gets his dick sucked by his wife (or girlfriend or mistress)--on lunch--he could be fired. On lunch...on his fucking time off that is required to be given to him by law... This also applies to other things. An officer was making muscles for a kid in a courtroom (in a non-disruptive manner) and the judge dismissed him from working the courthouse ever again. Just for making a kid smile...

The list goes on and on about stupid protocols that law enforcement has to face that are utterly stressful and ridiculous...

Um...accepting bribes is a federal felony....even if you don't stay bought.
Taking the bribe is not 'doing his job correctly'....it's a crime, even if he doesn't follow through afterwards.
WTF? Bill didn't offer any reciprocity for the BJ, did he?!? First I've heard that. What legislation was she promoting, or who got the presidential pardon?
I'm all for cops getting BJs daily before they start their shift, not a bad idea at all...but certainly not from those they stop, absolutely not with the promise they'll 'look the other way' about the crime...even if they follow through with the original charge regardless of the fact that they were just bought and paid for. EDIT: Also, not on the clock/the public's dime, not while in uniform, and not posted publicly.

Sam Harris: Can Psychedelics Help You Expand Your Mind?

enoch says...

these are the instances where harris always shines in my opinion.everyone should experience psychedelics at least once in their life, and as harris pointed out, there are caveats but it is so worth it.

the dissolving of the ego can be frightening for some but it can bring you to a truth, about yourself and others, that is quite hard to accomplish without assistance.

i find it interesting that this video is going to be sifted while trances video on the healing nature of psychedelics has been downvoted.

ah sift...you are a fickle mistress.

Idiots Topple a 20 Million Year Old Rock Formation

chingalera says...

Right? Fine, banned from National parks for life, and their public self-immolation seems a harsh enough mistress? ...I'd add a judgement of a mandatory probation of five years wearing a shirt in public as community service which reads, "Utah Rock-Tipper Guy."

The same people who would sit at their computers and pontificate after working the system's chores at the system's game....and who are about as involved with real-time politics as it takes to cast a vote after reading blogs and bitching...the same recycle dutifully and with much sniffing of their own fart-gas with windows sealed tightly in their Prius'.....Would place public lands chicaneries right up there with serial killing.

It's getting very close to critical mass ignoramus-ism, idiocratic hell.

Debilitating fine? That is a bit excessive. Regular fine should suffice.

Lord Tywin reveals his knowledge of Arya's ruse - S2E7

radx says...

@MilkmanDan

A) "Lord Tywin might rule House Lannister, but Lady Joanna ruled Tywin."

Just paraphrasing, of course, but Joanna was not just Tywin's wife. It is said, she was the only one to ever make him smile and his trusted advisor and companion. Kevan took her spot as Tywin's trusted advisor, but her death left a void, never to be filled again.

So Tyrion didn't just "kill" his wife, his birth marked the end of Tywin's only connection to a life beyond his cold, calculating self.

B) Tywin had plans for his twins, yet the tourney at Harrenhal put an end to that, sort of, leaving him with the Imp as his heir and only bargaining chip for alliances through marriage. Nothing to condemn Tyrion for, but I would assume it turned Tywin even more bitter than he already was.

Most importantly though, I think Tyrion's marriage to Tysha broke the camel's back. In the eyes of Tywin, Lord Tytos, his father, brought shame upon House Lannister by parading his lowborn mistress around Casterly Rock, wearing the garments and jewelry of Tytos' deceased wife, Tywin's mother. To see his own son with a lowborn girl, just like the father he had despised to much... it's a wonder he didn't put Tyrion into an oubliette below the Rock.

I'd say Tywin knows very well that Tyrion is much more like him than Cersei and Jaime could ever be. Tywin's sister Genna had the right of it when she proclaimed Tyrion to truly be his father's son. And as much as he follows Tywin's lead, Kevan must have told him as much as well.

But between Tyrion's marriage to a lowborn girl, his whoring, his loose tongue and fondness of japes and quips, there's too much about him that rubs Tywin the wrong way.
