Also- The Republican gubernatorial candidate in Missouri named Leon McLanahan admitted that he was a member of the KKK not long ago. McLanahan has described himself as a pro-white traditional Christian values candidate.
The RNC knew his past and his racist views when they made him their candidate.

But sure buddy, the MAGA party isn’t a racist cult. Just because Don embraced the most famous racist alive, ex Grand Dragon of the KKK David Duke, and never denounced him and voluntarily paid millions for intentionally redlining in his NY properties doesn’t mean he embraces racists and racism….oh wait.

As a bonus, the GOP reportedly has barely $9 million to run the entire 2024 election campaign season. Yes, Trump’s PACs have more, but they aren’t using a dime for campaigning, and won’t ever use a penny for anyone who isn’t named or related to Donald J Trump. They’re installing his daughter in law as the lead of the national party to ensure exactly that happens…and that’s why no one is donating to them. 😂

And…DOD and Rolling Stone reports both corroborated the stories about the pill mill at the Trump Whitehouse which has been described by multiple high ranking Trump officials as “awash in speed”, handing out Xanax, modafinil (speed given to pilots for extended combat missions), provagil, ambien, and many other controlled substances handed out by the bottle with no diagnosis or prescription, and shared freely among Trump’s whitehouse staff. The insanity, while still unforgivable, is becoming more understandable.

Jesus Christ….Habba just introduced evidence that Trump claimed for valuation purposes that Trump tower is 72 stories, it’s 63.
Then she introduced evidence that Trump claimed Las Vegas Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas is 64 stories, its 56, the floors jump from 8 to floor 16 in one floor.
This is evidence his own lawyers supplied PROVING major intentional fraud. True, he’s already convicted of these and hundreds of other financial frauds, but it’s still just plain stupid to rub it in the trial judges face before he determines the punishment. WTF!?!
Trump is trying for a not guilty by insanity defense, Haba is going for an ineffectual council defense. 😂

Comer’s fraudulent impeachment inquiry uncovered his own land swap/shell company dealings with his own brother that are eerily similar to those he says are proof of Biden influence peddling, with the main difference being Biden loaned his brother $200k and got back $200k but in Comer’s convoluted back and forth land swapping with his brother tens of thousands of dollars just appear in the accounts with no way to account for it and they also never paid taxes on it while Biden’s brother can account for where every penny came from and has and neither Biden made a dime from it.

Bonus- 😂 Trump Media (Toth Senchal) has lost near $60 million in “value”, making it now worth $5-$25 million. Digital World Acquisition’s mission statement says they are looking for a company to invest in worth $500 million - $2 billion…which when they said it is what they assumed Trump media would be worth when shareholders bought in. Wow, is it a good thing for the investors that both companies colluded illegally to create this deal using falsified values, because they would have paid Trump $2 billion for his company that less than a year later is worth $5 million ACCORDING TO TRUMP HIMSELF.
Sounds like the buyout is off, Trump’s company doesn’t come close to meeting the requirements.
What an amazing businessman, took a guaranteed $2 billion payout and turned it into a shrinking $5 million joke because he just couldn’t help but break any financial/business law he sees.

India Lands On The Moon’s South Pole

BSR says...

Take that Russia

MOSCOW, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Russia's first moon mission in 47 years failed when its Luna-25 space craft spun out of control and crashed into the moon after a problem preparing for pre-landing orbit, underscoring the post-Soviet decline of a once mighty space programme.

Russia's state space corporation, Roskosmos, said it had lost contact with the craft at 11:57 GMT on Saturday after a problem as the craft was shunted into pre-landing orbit. A soft landing had been planned for Monday.

Watch Elon Musk's Rocket Explode After Launch

Harzzach says...

The damage was so massive that they have to rebuild entire portions of the Texas Launch Site. It's quite possible that the immediate failure of several engines on one side was caused by debris from the launch pad.

How build launch durable pads, especially when using powerful engines, isnt something we have to learn first by making mistakes. This is basic engineering 101 at NASA.

While i still cant get enough from vertically landing rocket stages and i deeply respect the work of Space-X engineers ... this ongoing, absolute reckless launch safety strategy (or should i say the lack of) does not bode well for manned missions.

The launch pad and surrounding area was a mess with debris and a car was damaged some distance away from the launch pad.

NATO Declares Nord Pipeline Ruptures Sabotage

newtboy says...

Sure sounds like you got suckered again, mr gullible. Tricked into spreading more blatantly false Russian propaganda, again….unless you weren’t tricked and spread it intentionally, which is just as believable as you being as gullible as you act.

Yep, another totally moronic conspiracy theory spawned by Russia and spread by idiot righties totally 100% debunked…as expected….now what? Retraction? Never. Correction? Never. Just moving on to the next idiotic lies you can spout pretending you weren’t caught in the last 37 you tried? Sic simper.

Literally everything this liar Seymour Hersh claimed has been PROVEN conclusively to not only be false, but actually impossible. For instance, the plane he claimed dropped the sonobouy to trigger the non existent American charges is mothballed and hasn’t flown under its own power for a decade, can’t fly missions when it can’t fly…the mine sweepers and other military vessels were not in the area when he needs them to be for his theory to make any sense, proven public knowledge from ship trackers, and his sources are anonymous, unvetted, supposition, and just ridiculous….and mirror exactly the Kremlin’s ridiculous position/claims from the day after the pipeline was destroyed while surrounded by the Russian navy.
Makes sense you bought it, it is stupid and anti America. Right up your treasonous moronic alley.
Sucker, they sold you another anti American lie and you paid double for it. One more in an endless stream of anonymous sourced Russian propaganda pieces you choose to believe over verifiable facts….anything to make America the bad guy and Russia the innocent victim.

“ Seymour Hersh’s story would have been a lot harder to pull apart, had he decided to be more sparing with the details instead of going into depth with meaningless details that make little sense. A simpler story could have been believable, but this piece of Tom Clancy fan fiction is subpar. “

The Army Needs To Explain

cloudballoon says...

Just curious (as an uninformed Canadian), what war the US Army (not the Navy, not the USAF, the Army) can really claimed it won in a century? Just leave after wrecking a country into ruins is not winning by definition (Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc.), looking for a clear "Mission Accomplished"?

Like, I'd call the USAF dropping of the H Bomb won WWII, it got Japan to surrender, treaty signed, etc. That's Mission Accomplished to me.

Judge Locks Up Parkland Shooter for Life, Throws Away Key

newtboy says...

Oh no!!!

If you haven’t noticed, I’m not Bob. I decide my positions on my own, and while I’m socially liberal, that doesn’t mean I agree with the “liberal” positions at all times. I’m not insulted at my position being called “conservative”….I’m not tribalistic that way.

EG-I’m pro gun….but very pro regulation.

I’m actually a fiscal conservative, but unlike the right I know that doesn’t really mean the government should only pay for the military and nothing more. I agree with any spending that saves billions or trillions overall, even when it means some people get a free ride.
I think police are a good idea, although I believe they need serious reforms because they have lost their mission completely.
I think public roads are a good thing, as are public water and power systems.
I think national health care is a no brainer that works well in almost every country and saves trillions per year.
I think a safety net is a good idea...give people something to lose so they don’t turn to crime because they have nothing to lose.

Edit: I’ve said most of my adult life that I would be a Republican if only they would. Today’s Con has no resemblance to the Republican party I thought I grew up with (my entire family was hard core R).
Fiscal sanity, gone. Caring about the environment, gone. Supporting facts and science, gone. Supporting small government, gone (except with lip service). Strong and enforced gun regulations to protect gun ownership rights, gone. Strict supporters of law and order, not anymore. Government out of private life, so incredibly gone. Separation of church and state, gone. Fans of democracy, gone. Honesty, not even a memory.
I’m only a “blue liberal” by default. I might be libertarian if they weren’t crazed anti government extremists and almost MAGA.
Dems are the only ones left that really believe in democratic government.

I agree that 40 years+ without parole is cruel, but certainly not unusual or excessive. I never understand why excessively long prison sentences are considered less than the death penalty…I’m claustrophobic, to me it would be 40+ years of panic. I would give myself the death penalty fairly quickly because I’m not brave enough to face that. Swallow my tongue or bite it off, either works just fine and can’t be stopped. I’m really shocked that’s not the norm, but I’ve (clearly) never had to face it.

bcglorf said:

Careful @newtboy, you're sounding a bit like a conservative on this one from the Canadian POV.

A terrorist that shot 12 people in a mosque, killing 6 was sentenced under new Conservative law that allowed sentences like murder to be applied consecutively. More details in the link below, but our liberal dominated Supreme Court ruled the 40 years without a parole chance was "cruel and unusual".

So our gov. will be giving them a chance at parole in 2039.

RetroAhoy: X-COM

cloudballoon says...

X-COM & its sequels are THE strategy PC series I played & replayed the most ever, on both PC & Android on my tablet.

No other copycats I played like Jagged Alliance came close to my love of X-COM.

I always picked my team members that's high on Psych att/def. I prefer mind control the aliens to recon & go on suicide missions than using firepower.

Guy in VR Chat Talks About Their PTSD

newtboy says...

Agreed, that’s why I said “if you intentionally murdered…”.

I would even go farther and say IMO the near the same applies if you knowingly kill non-combatant women and children even if it’s while defending yourself and they aren’t your intended target… you should still feel bad about it and feel obligated to make it your lifetime mission to ensure their sacrifice benefits their families/village/country not just you.

Collateral damage is a fact of war, but IMO intentional collateral damage is a war crime. That would include intentional gross negligence, not making any effort to avoid it, randomly firing at civilians, indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, etc. even if they’re being used as human shields.

Not saying that’s the case here, but it often is.

spawnflagger said:

Can't judge without knowing more details, but I'll give him benefit of the doubt and assume the women and children were unintended casualties or bystanders, perhaps from long range attack or grenades thrown blindly. "military precision" is a dumb phrase because there have been so many civilian casualties (estimates > 500k in Iraq)

Biden Approval WTF

bobknight33 says...

Nice guy, yes
Moral, yes

Weak leader, yes

He failed to get out hostages. I believe 52+ week
He did tried and mission failed. Mission mishap - 6 dead
Finally on his last day, last hours negotiated agreement that included 8 billion bucks of held money.
This issue had a looming cloud over his presidency.

Like Joe Biden>
Failed to control inflation
Failed to do much about gas prices.

newtboy said:

Yes…brilliant in fact…and moral to the extreme, and ethical beyond reproach, and a genuinely nice, thoughtful person too. None of those traits are positives to you though.
And let’s not forget, besides sea testing new nuclear submarines he was also “assisting in the design and development of nuclear propulsion plants for naval vessels.”…but only reached LT, not Captain.

Explain, specifically how was he poor as president?
Because he didn’t go to war in Iran (nor would he break the law and collude with them and sell them weapons like Reagan)?
Because he advocated for renewable energy that would have made us energy independent in the 80’s and oil free before 2000?
Exactly what?

Oh Bob. Always a laugh with you. The unintended self deprecation always brightens my day.

Trump Wanted Armed Groups At His Jan 6 Rally

newtboy says...

Um….it’s not a show, nor is it a trial. Derp.

It is about investigating, then handing over evidence for prosecuting, not persecuting those politically opposed to democracy that took actions to end it because they tried to cover up the certified, verified results of the election they lost in a historic landslide to Sleepy Joe. The prosecution comes afterwards, then the persecution.

It’s absolutely about covering up the truth about the 2020 election….it’s about investigating and eventually prosecuting those who tried to do that.

I think it’s funny that investigating Jan 6 is portrayed by the right as going after Trump, but you guys are so dumb you don’t realize that’s admitting Trump was leading the treasonous coup attempt. If investigating the Jan 6 attack is going after Trump, the two must be connected.

Right, CNN reported it, so it must be untrue. So stupidly ignorant, bob. CNN gets it right 197 times for every time your biased sources tell the truth. Not only that, the 2.5% they get wrong they report and offer retractions….without having to be sued for billions to get them to not lie. Not a single right wing propaganda outlet can say the same. Such sad infantile stupidity you show at every opportunity.

I guess you forgot, Trump actually admitted most of her testimony publicly, all the important parts, saying he wanted to go personally lead the attack but his secret service wouldn’t let him. Does the specifics of this tantrum of the dozens we’ve seen him have publicly make any difference? He’s not being charged with attacking them, he’s being charged (eventually) with leading a violent coup to overthrow the government, something you and everyone else knows quite well that he did. Leadership matters!

The Federalist?! Aaaaahahaha!! Truth..nope. News…nope. Try again traitorous loser. The Federalist is poorly written fantasy fiction compared to CNN, which isn’t the only source for this information by far but I knew a CNN report would trigger your stupidity. Mission accomplished.
You, on the other hand, have what to discredit her story? One anonymous claim from someone saying an unnamed someone else might say it didn’t happen? From the far right, racist, factless, conspiracy theory rag…The Federalist!? LMFAHS!! OMFG, you ijit! Bwaaaahahahahaha. Why not just quote Mike Pillow?

What part does the federalist deny anyway (I’m not going to read it). Do they just deny he grabbed the wheel? I would certainly believe his excuse, that he’s too fat and out of shape to grab the wheel, but also that he TRIED to, lunged for it but failed, yes, I believe that, does that change anything? Does that even contradict her testimony? No.
Do they deny he was outraged that they wouldn’t take him to personally lead the attack (and lynching of Pence)? He admitted that on national tv, so it’s too late to deny. D’oh!

More tears, they’re so yummy! Keep ‘em coming!

Just a reminder, Republicans didn’t want a non political investigation, they utterly refused, then they refused to be involved in the bipartisan investigation. The only investigation they were interested in was of Clinton, even in 2021. Now they whine they aren’t involved in the investigation (Trump now complains they should have been a party to it because he wants people inside who can warn his people of subpoenas and warrants so they can flee and destroy evidence).
No crying about it now, you chose to not be represented well on the panel.

Beto interrupts dog and pony show

newtboy says...

I heard “I can’t believe you’re a sick son of a bitch that would come to our political PR event to make a political stance on a political issue! “

Aren’t these the people who have made a mission out of standing up in school, town, and county board meetings and scream ranting at them, often in large numbers, often making threats, until the meetings are ended? Now the same snowflakes are outraged someone does the same to them in an effort to make a better suggestion to protect children than the Republican suggestion, which today is arm every adult and lock all the fire exits, because having armed guards worked out so well in Florida.

Edit: it now sounds like Uvaldi police waited quite some time (1:15) before entering the school, with videos of parents pleading with them to do something and dozens of armed police on scene, during which time the murderer shot down 19 children and two teachers. So much for armed security being the solution…that only works if they act, which is rare.
