US Switching to the Metric System?
It's a non issue. Any engineer worth his/her salt can do conversions. And really, to work in a global environment, you absolutely have to know the metric system. It is taught in most schools from the elementary level.

Inside The Sun - A Closer Look At Our Star
>> ^Pooterius:
Sounds rather quaint describing the sun using units like "Fahrenheit" and "cords". I guess they were talking about 19th century astronomers, so it makes sense.
I rather think it is because the producers of the program come from a country where they have not yet gone over to the metric system. 19th century astronomers used the CGS system, not Fahrenheit and cords.

Cheerio and fish your chips, it's a bleeding good show of a jolly time! Wait, what the devil is this? Chaps and buckinghams, the Colonists have taken over the metric system! Just look at the one daft fellow by the name of KP, or some rubbish like that! That's one Yankee who needs to be sent to Australia with the other prisoners!

exhibit A: The woman says "18 K's an hour", referring to the metric system as applied to distances traveled over time, a system in use by many people in many countries, with the notable exception of America. We use miles per hour, and I'll be dead in my grave before that changes.
exhibit B: The woman, though she speaks only momentarily, clearly has an Australian accent.
America, so easily badmouthed these days...
