Meet Bob the Hamster
Sorry, didn't mean to go all ballistic about this. There were some weird message board ham(p)ster issues somewhere many, many years ago that obviously left me emotionally scarred

I am sorry, but.. it is a hamster, hamster.. no 'p' there!
Ooh yes! You're right! Oops.
Ron Paul on Fema and Hurricane Irene
>> ^longde:
Ron Paul is a filthy fucking statist. Below are some of his relevant 2009 budget requests (still looking for his 2010 and 2011 earmark requests):
Subcommittee on Homeland Security:
• $8.8 million for FEMA for drainage at Cove Harbor in Aransas County
• $2.2 million for FEMA to reconfigure and stabilize Capano Causeway Pier
• $500,000 for FEMA for Aransas County drainage master plan
• $35 million for FEMA for drainage in Friendswood
• $10 million for FEMA for drainage project for Friendswood/Clear Creek
• $10 million for FEMA for drainage project for Friendswood/Clear Creek
• $5 million for FEMA to recycle household hazardous waste in Friendswood
You're a dumbass. RP has always voted against the appropriation. Earmarks are 1% of the budget, that any funds get back to his district after they're taken means it doesn't go to the general fund to be spent on some bullshit embassy or something. It's like taking a tax credit despite being against the income tax: it's not hypocritical, it's salvaging what you can should you fail to stop appropriation. Oh, and earmarks actually tell you what the spending is for, whereas the Fed issues trillions in new money and doesn't have to tell you where it went. Maybe you should hang around smarter message boards so you don't fall for every half-brained argument you see.

the benefits of the delusion of an afterlife
There's a lot of delusions people hold onto that have benefits. Like I'm deluded into thinking I'm smarter and superior to everyone, so I post on message boards all day.
Who does that benefit? Because it sure ain't us.

Real Life Blair Witch Project-real time footage of tornado
wow wow wow.
Message board is kind of a mess for how intense this very real video is.
and @solecist, I was up close during the Loma Prieta quake... things can get very serious out there at the drop of a hat (I really only mention that because this video reminded me of some of the night-time after shocks).

Sounds like a Vicious Cycle that should be stopped. Maybe not all jumping to conclusions like an internet message board is the way to go. Oh the ironing.
Are you tired of Windows, Mac and Linux / Unix?
Quote from reddit:
"Yeah - I moderate a message board where this guy used to continually post (until we banned him) - he's a little mixed up.
My favourite quote was him saying that God had told him to use only 640x480x16 mode.
So, uh, yeah."
Still upvoted...

If Health Care Passes There Will Be Civil War
Dearest Mabeline,
It has been three weeks since the Northern Aggressors passed the Socialist Health Care Takeover Act of 2010. I have organized a small band of like-minded rebels, and we have set ourselves to the task of taking back this great nation from the grip of the of the socialist devils who have stolen it's helm. Our first act will be the loud comdemnation of this heresy on every message board that we have accounts on. Later, we will probably go to Chili's.
I hope to see you soon,
Colonel Lionel T. Douchebag

Allowing members to post pictures in their comments? (Sift Talk Post)
This was discussed many ages ago and I'm still in agreement with the consensus back then: All the negatives outweigh the relatively minor fun factor that is the only positive.
Negatives:
1) It will slow page load.
2) It will make comment threads really annoying.
3) It makes video pages look like cheesy message board threads from the 1990s.
[edit]
I shudder at the realization there are kids on the Internet now that have no idea what message boards from the 1990s were. I'm getting old.

Nostradamus 2012 End Time
Nostrildamus is the whipping boy for all cataclysmic or otherwise newsworthy scenarios. Just check how many books have been written since WWII. He supposedly predicted Hitler, the bombing of Japan, Kennedy's assassination, Nixon's resignation, the fall of Phenom Pen, the Falklands conflict, the Challenger Shuttle disaster, Y2K, 9/11, George Bush, the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster, Obama, and now 2012.
And guess what? His prose will be used to "predict" all the cataclysms and newsworthy items of the future too. Why? Because it sells books and makes for entertainment fodder. No other reason than that.
Remember that Y2K TV movie? It was shite, yes, but it provided jobs for quite a few people in the TV industry. Same with this new Emmerich flick. Same with all disaster movies, political biopics, polemic documentaries, and "uncovered secrets" books that we have not yet seen. We're creative, you see, and we demand to be entertained.
Rather than register to the umpteen-thousand conspiracy message boards currently out there, I'd very much like to frequent a single, official 2012 message board, expressly for rational thinkers' postings of "We're still here, morons."
Because I'm exactly the kind of person who says "I told you so."
