Brutal Legend = Tenacious D + God of War?

poolcleaner says...

Tim Schafer + Rock n' Roll = win. Everything he's ever worked on has been amazing. Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Psychonauts...

Plus! The main character is voiced over by Jack Black; as well as Lemmy, Rob Halford and fucking Dio having rolls in the game. Hopefully It doesn't get cut with the Activision Blizzard merger... None of Schafers projects should ever get cut -- ever!

In my opinion it seems that they are building up to this anyway....
Remember that secret meeting the house of representatives had on March 13, 2007 that Dennis Kucinich refused to attend because of his opposition to the content?
It's been leaked that the meeting referred to impending martial law, handling opposition to the government in the event of an uprising, safehavens for congress people in such event, what will happen to Americans that may oppose the "rule of law" from the Federal govt and the "unavoidable" merger between countries of the North American continent.

Wow, I would like to think that what the esteemed Constitutional_Patriot has said in that comment is not possible, but I know better.

Its not the fact that this could happen its the fact that there is even talk about this possibly happening.

This is indeed scary.

Refusing to attend THAT? Inconceivable! He should have attended with a hidden recorder.

Thought you might want some cheese history

Easy Cheese was originally marketed by Nabisco in 1966 under the name Snack Mate. After the merger of Kraft and Nabisco in 1988, the product was renamed Easy Cheese. It is sold in the United States, where it is usually served on crackers. Ritz Crackers in particular, another Kraft Foods product, are heavily cross-promoted with Easy Cheese. However, the Nabisco brand remained until 2001.

It is available in several flavors, including American cheese, mild and sharp cheddar, Swiss, nacho, and bacon & cheddar. The bacon & cheddar flavor used to contain tiny chunks of bacon, which easily clogged the can's nozzle. Kraft Foods has since reworked the recipe to omit the bacon particles in favor of bacon flavoring. In 2007, Kraft began producing a cream cheese variety of Easy Cheese.

“There are just five or six companies in America that dominate the media landscape—giant multinational conglomerates. So there may be a lot of different voices but they’re coming from the same ventriloquist.”
--Jonathan Adelstein, FCC Commissioner

As a companion piece, see this Real News segment on the FCC's media consolidation. The public has responded almost unanimously against further mergers, yet the FCC steamroller keeps on going. Rest assured that the media companies do make a profit by increasing their size, but not by economies of scale as they claim. The key word here is "monopoly".

AT&T's version of "Internet freedom" - Censorship

Henry Rollins Rant - Freedom & the Internet Are Under Attack

joedirt says...

MINK, you are so...

Yeah, cable service is so great and cheap because of business model and free market. There is a reason why telecommunications are (were) protected and available, and why Ma Bell was broken up (to be put back together again by corporafascist Bushie folks)

Number One, you already paid for the internet and bandwidth. You've been paying for fiber for years. All those extra telecom taxes, tariffs and fees. In addition part of the mergers and settlements over the years were contingent upon laying fiber or making more available.

You paid for it, AT&T owns it and now wants to turn the internet into a turnpike with toll roads and toll bridges and toll tunnels everywhere they can get away with it.

They don't like ATTsucksdonkeys.com, well guess what, their registration fee just went up (like car insurance for certain races, etc.) Oh, and their email gets lost and/or delayed in the tubes.

They regulate phone and cable, and look how brillantly that worked out. We now have tier 3 service compared to modern countries. We have crappier everything in terms of bandwidth for consumers (though, still cheaper than Canada).

Charity Mascot is Policed for Intefering with News Broadcast

S_DOG34 says...

This video, like many others of its kind, is edited to produce a certain point of view and we should bear that in mind. Still, the ones getting the most upset and causing the most trouble were the camera crew. It's not as though they can stop foot traffic wherever they please in order to get some meaningless news shot.

Also, I would love to hear what exactly the cops were going to charge this guy with. Standing on the sidewalk is not a crime that I know of and neither is obstructing a news crew. Even if the guy was being a total dickhead (which I'm not at all convinced he was) that's not a crime either.

This is basically the equivolent of somebody not letting another person into their lane when driving and then having the guy trying to get in call the cops and make the person in the lane to begin with make room for the merger. Sorry...that's not how life works.

TayTV Situation (Sift Talk Post)

@MINK:
"These arguments, mostly between men, are the internet equivalent of the intro to 2001: A Space Odyssey."

"And it's always us guys waving our cocks at each other, strangely the girls don't seem to take part so much..."

Excuse me???? I think I also speak for Swampgirl and Mlx here when I say that the women of the sift have just as much invested in this site as the men... we may not do any 'cock waving' as you call it, but we are just as involved dammit.

Anyway: I agree with silvercord 100% on this statement:
"Fedquip's Collective is in a different class than anyone else here on the Sift. He has drawing power no one else can muster. He's reached the top 15 in a matter of weeks. And you know what? That isn't his fault. He was given that position here on the Sift. It's obviously created a tremendous resentment. In a nutshell, TayTV and VS were a merger. Because of the nature of that relationship the TayTV Collective needs to be in a class by itself. No "Top 15." No "Top User" list. No "Rating."

I think we all need to recognize that Fed is not a regular user and should be treated as such if he stays on. Personally, I like swampgirl's proposal and would urge you all to have a looksee:

TayTV Situation (Sift Talk Post)

silvercord says...

Good Morning,

FWIW, there are really two separate topics being discussed here. First is Fedquip's Collective and meteoric rise to the top 15. Second is Fedquip's self-linking.

1. Joedirt is correct. Fedquip's Collective is in a different class than anyone else here on the Sift. No "Rating." Frankly any of those comparisons with regular Sifters just isn't fair and stirs up problems. The rest of us don't (ostensibly) search videos for a living and we certainly can't bring 40,000 hits here. While that's good for the Sift, the current policy of having Fedquip be compared to the rest of us doesn't foster good relations.

2. Fequip self-linked. Fedquip broke the rule. And newbies who do that get tossed. But Fedquip is hardly a newbie and has been a prolific and, at least to me, a courteous contributor to the Sift. It seems to me, at this point, the right thing to do would be to ask Fedquip to get rid of the self-links and get them hosted by someone else. Any further abuse can result in whatever penalty Brian and James deem fair. As Joedirt indicated, there are several among us who haven't had our hands entirely clean of the self-link rule.

Bottom Line: Fedquip brings a lot of people to the Sift. That's good for Brian and James. If that helps keep the Sift around, it's good for all of us. Soooo . . . Keep Fedquip. Put his Collective in a class by itself. His vids will still go through the same process but votes and member rating will not be compared with other members. They won't even register. Have him dump his self-links and let it serve as fair warning. I don't think I'd like to lose him at this point without giving another option a try.

That's my .02.

Leo Laporte Gets Pwned By Search Engine

winkler1 says...

Totally agree about G4 comments... Leo is doing a Canadian version of Call for Help - someone is BitTorrenting it, tracker is here. BTW guys, Amber MacArthur is really cute. From the FAQ-

Is this the Canadian Call for Help?
Yes.

**Is it legal to download these?
Maybe, maybe not. I am not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV. You should look into the laws in your own country if in doubt. Although they are all aware of its existence, this site is in no way officially connected with G4techTV Canada, Rogers Communications, G4 US, Comcast Communications, Leo Laporte, or anyone else connected with the show.

What happened to Call for Help? Why is it in Canada now?
G4techTV Canada now produces the show at their station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They bought the rights to it after it was canceled in the aftermath of the G4 & TechTV "merger" in the US, and were able to get Leo back as host. Leo flies to Toronto once per month and spends a week taping a month's worth of shows with his new co-hosts, Andy Walker and Amber MacArthur.

What's the difference between G4techTV Canada and G4 in the US?
G4techTV Canada is operated independently from its US counterpart and have little to do with each other. They share a name only to avoid confusion when watching the US-sourced programming. The Canadian station persists in their desire for tech-related programming rather than game-related programming. If Call for Help proves successful for them, and indications are apparently good, they may begin to produce other new tech shows. For more information regarding the difference between the two stations, click here to read it from Leo himself.

what would be the advantage to adding them? you have to ask yourself: what's in it for VS (specifically you) ... like joe said, see if you can get a few greenbacks in your pocket for the merger.
