It was a hyperbolic comparison, sure, but the fact remains that an animal like a beluga whale is almost certainly smart enough to realize that it's in a cage, and probably smart enough to be sad about it.

@Abel_Prisc: Seriously, I don't care how low the budget is, if it's a bad film, it's a bad film... if it's good, then also good. My issue is the CG looks fake, and there's a point where you should go, "You know, our budget can't stretch to this effect, let's do something more creative"... but no... they just fill it with CG that looks like CG.

So, no I won't watch it just because it's all low budget...

El Mariachi was that, was shot for $7K, and it was a blast to watch...

Hey, this film could be awesome, I just don't buy this 'hey, it was done by 1 man and a box of matches, WATCH IT!' malarky, it should stand on its own 2 feet. (You know... if film had feet)

I was heartbroken when I started up my car and mariachi music was playing. The sound of mariachi is the death rattle of radio. It was inevitable, but still, every time 103.1 or 107.1 -- every time a good indy radio station goes off the air, I die a little inside. Jonesy, Full Metal Jackie, Henry Rollins and Joe Escalante all on one radio station. I cry.

At least we still have Jim Ladd and Free Form Rock n' Roll on 95.5.

yup! its seriously one of the best low budget films, I think it ties with El Mariachi (listen to the commentary by Robert Rodriguez on the El Mariachi dvd, its basically a how-to of no money film making, its great!) I saw Dead Alive before I saw Bad Taste, so it holds a special place just above this film, but they are close! I still can't keep laughing about the cardboard Beatles cutouts and the skull flap! This movie has some great scenes in it! I think the only PJ film I am not excited about pre-lotr was The Frighteners.

I figured Joe Walsh for more love than it's received; thanks for the promote and the interest.
