Why Every New Macbook Needs a Different Goddamn Charger

dag says...

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

For me it's more annoying that there is only one USB port which doubles as the power. I know Apple is pushing to to get everyone to use wireless technology - but still annoying.

The new Broadwell Macbook Pro is much more attractive to me, and twice as fast as its predecessor. http://www.computerworld.com/article/2900330/holy-smoke-the-new-macbook-literally-is-twice-as-fast.html

Oh, and Sift of the week.

Why Every New Macbook Needs a Different Goddamn Charger

Ickster says...

I'm the only one on my dev team who is using a Windows laptop instead of a MacBook. Every time someone else needs to present, it's a scramble for a dongle, and then their WiFi drops and it takes five minutes to get reconnected.

Yeah, my ThinkPad looks like an industrial accident compared to those admittedly sexy MacBooks, but unlike those, my Windoze machine "just works (TM)."\

Bill Gates drinks water that used to be human poop

Esoog says...

A natural comparison...people want to idolize Steve Jobs for what he did with Apple...iphones...macbooks...imacs, etc. And thats fine I guess.

But Bill Gates is someone who should be idolized. What he is doing with his foundation is remarkable and world changing. Helping scientists, engineers, researchers to flourish and bring in technology like this is fantastic.

How fast will the Russian Hackers takedown the tourists?

SFOGuy says...

So, for all three platforms (Lenovo, Macbook Air, Android phone), it did indeed appear to need some or all of the following actions:
1) You had to not update the OS's
2) You had to go to "bad" websites, at least one connected to Sochi duping
3) You had to click on things and do deeply unwise stuff once you were on the site.

That makes me feel better.
A little.

Has already been proven as BS. They got random malware from infected websites, and were never in Sochi (Moscow instead - 1000 miles away) and blamed Russian hackers. You cant prove any better that you have no clue about what you are talking about and have a different agenda than objective news and reports.

I just read Alan Rusbridger's comment on this mess and the following was more than I can take at 8am:

And so one of the more bizarre moments in the Guardian's long history occurred – with two GCHQ security experts overseeing the destruction of hard drives in the Guardian's basement just to make sure there was nothing in the mangled bits of metal which could possibly be of any interest to passing Chinese agents. "We can call off the black helicopters," joked one as we swept up the remains of a MacBook Pro.

GCHQ thugs destroying Guardian property on Guardian premises -- I did not expect it to escalate this quickly. The fact that Rusbridger published it on the blog section of the Guardian indicates to me that some sort of gag order was placed on the Guardian and that he stepped up and did this at his own risk.

Makes you wonder what kinds of data Snowden liberated from the NSA: the recipe for soilent green?
