Are you lost in the world like me?
And the systems have failed are you free?
All the things are lost can you see?
Are you lost in the world like me?
Like me

Look hard the city is gone
Black days and a dying sun
Dream a dream of dark lit air
Just for a minute you’ll find me there
So look harder and you’ll find
Forty ways it leaves us blind
I need a better place to burn beside the lines

Come on and let me try
Are you lost in the world like me?
And the systems have failed are you free?
All the things are lost can you see?
Are you lost in the world like me?
Like me

So (???) in the city it’s dawn
Dropping knives and a dying sun
Salted love in the dark lit air
Just for a minute I’ll find you there
So look harder and you’ll find
The forty ways it leaves us blind
I need a better way to burn beside the lines

Come on and let me try

Are you lost in the world like me?
And the systems have failed are you free?
All the things are lost can you see?
Are you lost in the world like me?
Like me

Are you lost in the world like me?
And the systems have failed are you free?
All the things are lost can you see?
Are you lost in the world like me?

Man sings "Cat's In The Cradle" in tribute to dying Father

ChaosEngine says...

I get that it's the first song he played, but it's still kind of an odd song to sing to your dying father.

Reminds me of a story I heard where a bride sang Pearl Jam's "Betterman" to her new husband at their wedding because it was his favorite song....

listen to the lyrics , people!

I'm working on a translation by ear, don't want to cheat and Google the lyric.
so far I can tell the refrain repeated 3x:

No te preocupes si no te aprueban - don't worry if they don't approve of you
Cuando te critiquen tú solo di Soy Yo - when they criticize you just say I am Me

Checked that out a little while ago(the translation). I was not impressed. More enjoyable in a language i don't understand.

(edit) although now that i look again seems it may be a generated translation that isn't properly done.

The Cramps - Garbageman

poolcleaner says...

Off the album Songs the Lord Taught Us, if you're interested in the Cramps. One of my favorite bands. They're obsessed with old rock n roll (southern American rock) and so they sound like the bands they're in love with and not the punk scene (CBGB's in New York) they came out of. Knowing that, the lyrics might make a whole lot more sense to you and not just be weird shit.

"One half hillbilly and one half punk.
The hottest thing from the north to come out of the south."

The Accidental Origin of the Hit Song ‘American Woman’

MilkmanDan says...

That was awesome.

The origin of a riff being "accidental" doesn't seem unusual -- people come up with riffs that get turned into earworm songs while just jamming / screwing around all the time.

But having the combination of sudden inspiration and accidental creation of the riff immediately followed by impromptu creation of the lyrics is really really cool.

Awesome sift, thanks!

death-politicians in my eyes-rare 70's detroit punk

WeedandWeirdness says...

I had totally forgotten about these guys @enoch! A buddy of mine was a DJ at an independent radio station when I was in High School and would make me some of the best mix tapes ever, and this song was on one of them. Holy hell, brought back a lot of memories of flipping through milk crates full of vinyl.

The lyrics are amazing, and it seems very fitting for the times we are currently living, so I need to *promote this one for sure!!
