Supreme Court Ethics: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

newtboy says...

Still waiting, you will never be an adult.

Of course you would, because you see nothing wrong with bribing justices, but you only think that because it’s ONLY far right activist judges that changed their tune after confirmation caught taking tens of millions in bribes from people with cases before them, but when Sotomayor reported a book advance on the wrong years taxes you screamed bloody murder and acted like SHE had been selling decisions to foreign powers.

That’s absolutely hilarious, seeing as the biggest bribe taker Thomas has CLAIMED for decades to love having dinner with commoners in Walmart parking lots, and you bought that lie 100% while in reality his vacations were multi million dollar family trips to private ultra luxury islands and multi million dollar ultra luxury “retreats” also worth millions per person, he despises peons like you, but is happy to lie to you knowing you’ll buy any bullshit lie he tells you because his tie is red and he’s a team player (but you don’t realize it’s team Thomas). Clearly he knew you and most others don’t expect justices to abuse their position to cozy up to billionaire benefactors and offer special treatment in return.

The liberal justices still have friends from before being impaneled, not the conservatives.

You are fine with justice for the highest bidder, not equal Justice for all. Very unAmerican of you, traitor.

bobknight33 said:

I would expect any SCOTUS only to have " richer" friends.
Dont think any SCOTUS / POTUS/ Congress member would entertain a dinner trip with @newtboy or other commoner.

"Hunter Biden Spent $872K on Hookers" - Facing 9 Indictment

newtboy says...

The video itself, and reality debunk it.
The title is a pure lie.
He did not even allegedly spend anywhere near $872k on hookers.
Clear enough?

You clearly want to conflate correcting any baseless lie you tell about Hunter and Joe with claiming Hunter is an absolutely innocent target, but that’s simply false. Hunter did many criminal things, that’s clear, none of which would normally be elevated to prosecution and certainly wouldn’t warrant jail, that’s also clear. He’s no roll model, but he doesn’t claim to be one. His crimes are similar to those of Trump except in scale, Trump has been found guilty of up to $250 million in tax evasion in NY alone while spending hundreds of millions on “hookers” if all women you pay for sex are hookers (hookers and luxury hotels, rental property, real estate, gifts for girlfriends and wives, lawyers, luxury vehicles, clothing, food, etc)

Considering your rapist, publicly pedophilic, proudly incestuous, “best friend of Epstein”, state secret stealing and selling, convicted fraud, tax cheating, Sudafed addicted cult leader, I don’t think you really want to get into who’s a degenerate and to what extent.

I think it’s clear that Hunter didn’t handle his brother’s death well and went on a multi year binge, with all the related bad decisions that come with that. I think its also exceedingly clear he never did anything that intentionally hurt others or put them in untenable positions, he only hurt himself (and by extension his family).
I think it’s also clear that Hunter didn’t have the ability to peddle any influence, especially when his father wasn’t in office or even a candidate during the time in question, but it’s also abundantly clear the persecution is purely politically motivated as an attempt to paint the father with an exaggeration of the son’s crimes.

What is important to recognize is Hunter is not running for any public office, especially not the highest on earth, he’s a private citizen. Trump wants to be dictator for life then leave the country to his little boys….he needs to now that his fraudulent financial empire is crumbling to dust. Trump made hundreds of millions defrauding others, intentionally hurting others, swindling others, etc.

Please take an English refresher course. It’s painful.

bobknight33 said:

All know you a TOOL.

Debunk this

What evidence do you have that debunks this?

Please enlighten your fellow Sifters?

The IRS is after his ass.

Don't think Hunter is a sex, drug degenerate?

What evidence do you have that will disprove the IRS case?

Put up or shut up.

"Hunter Biden Spent $872K on Hookers" - Facing 9 Indictment

newtboy says...

Hunter Hunter Hunter. He lives rent free in your head, Bob.
You do know he’s not running for office, right? You do know he’s never held public office, right? You do know he’s a different person from his father, right? It appears not.

ALLEGEDLY spent on drugs and escorts…. and gifts for girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing, food, sundries, and other items of a personal nature, in short, everything but his taxes….but the right just baselessly says that it was all spent on hookers because the truth is poison to MAGA.

Remember, Trump famously and repeatedly paid 6 figures for single sexual encounters, since you’re john shaming. Trump had to pay far more for far less, and many many times. Trump has never had sex with someone he didn’t pay in one way or another, including his multiple wives.

Why can’t @bobknight33 ever be even close to honest? Bob? *debunked on its face…the claim is utter nonsense.

Judiciary Committee Hearing on Supreme Court Ethics Reform

newtboy says...

No, you fuckwit. You are always releasing the paper tigers you love to fight. Heroically battling windmills. 😂

They should only be allowed to accept minor gifts they report like a normal under $100 meal, not $1 million vacations that are specifically barred by law, not sale of properties at extreme profits that’s intentionally hidden from financial reports which require their report by clear unambiguous law.
It’s not one bit about “hanging out”, it’s about selling access to justices to people with cases before the Supreme Court in secret, about buying opportunity to present your argument to justices away from the court with no rules or opposition and prejudice them towards your position, and to pay them to accept those positions.

(Side note, it’s not illegal but this also 100% destroys the fake “Everyman” persona Thomas has lied about for decades….saying he prefers Walmart parking lots to expensive beaches and old RVs over luxury travel, but spending all his vacations on private luxury beaches, exclusive luxury resorts and retreats, and globetrotting on private planes. Every word you’ve ever heard from this man is a lie. Every. Single. Word. Ever.)

News flash, these billionaires had no interest in being friends with the justices before hey were on the highest court…they aren’t old friends, they’re new benefactors found after they became powerful justices mislabeled as “friends”. Guaranteed, if Thomas is removed, he will never hear from Crow again….not once.

News flash, Justices are only rich because they illegally take bribes in the million dollar range for the sale of their decisions in court. They were not rich before becoming justices. Do you think American justice should be for sale to the highest bidder…should Soros be in control of everything because, as you believe, he bribes everyone everywhere. (Hint- you would clearly call for prison nonstop if you could prove he bribed anyone).

No, you don’t think, you just defend every righty crime no matter what it is and make up lefty crimes out of thin air.

You fuckwit. He hid EVERYTHING. Tens to hundreds of millions unreported, every penny of which he absolutely knew must be reported by law, he reported most before finding out Scalia had gotten away with not reporting tens of millions and over 70 million dollar international hunting trips, one of which he died on….today it was revealed Crow secretly, totally unreported, paid for Thomas’s ward/child’s tuition at hyper expensive (Tuition at the exclusive Hidden Lake Academy cost more than $6,000 a month) private schools….on top of million dollar vacations for the entire family, businesses created for his wife and huge salary for his wife unreported, property sold by Thomas above market value then handed back for free with major improvements, the list of bribes discovered from this one billionaire grows daily….hint, he’s not the only one.

Yes, dumbshit. If as a judge you sell your decisions about the law in America for a cash bribe, that’s secret personal enrichment. I know, two 3 syllable words together is way above your comprehension level.

Edit: Maybe that’s the problem. Let’s try this….
He big steal lots of times…lots big steals two. Big lies to. Him sell law four cash bribe. Your thinks say that ok fine, he MAGA hero, so he can no bad. That dumb.

Big surprise….because conservatives were caught taking them over and over and over and over and over you now have absolutely no problem with bribery at the highest levels….but you’ll lose your shit and start screaming “hypocrisy! Criminals! Lock them up!” if any non MAGgot gets caught accepting a sandwich.

bobknight33 said:

So people at supreme court should only be allowed to hang with poor people?

Judiciary Committee Hearing on Supreme Court Ethics Reform

newtboy says...

You must be fucking kidding.
You think this makes your party look sane? Or fair? Or even 1% honest?
I guess he expects no one to remember all the threats righty politicians make against the court, the left, and each other…usually involving a “second amendment solution”, not a threat of basic ethics rules.

Then you think listing some working lecture trips some justices took that were publicly reimbursed by law schools that never had cases before the court and which they reported equates to tens of millions in hyper luxury international trips for the entire family by people with cases before the court that were hidden and not reported as specifically and unambiguously required by law helps make the right seem LESS criminal. 😂

Clarence Thomas delegitimized himself by selling access to himself in secret, selling his decisions in secret, by not recusing himself from cases involving his “friends” (that he only met after becoming a justice), not recusing himself from cases involving his wife, her political movement/business, and pretending that he, the top legal authority in the country, didn’t know it was illegal despite it being incredibly clear in the law…laws he is 100% aware of and followed until corrupt Scalia told him he could get away with it by just not reporting it anymore (like Scalia did with million dollar hunting retreats over 70 times).

It makes you all look criminally unethical and moronic.
Why would anyone want no rules for the highest court unless they are complicit in the bribery schemes?
Self regulation has clearly completely failed, it’s never once worked in human history, but it’s Graham’s/the right’s only plan. Keep bribery legal at the highest levels. 🤦‍♂️

bobknight33 said:

Graham whining that it’s not fair to catch major criminals selling the rule of law to the highest bidder, we need to focus on minor ethics lapses and Democratic threats to enforce ethics rules instead and let them continue to self regulate…it’s going so well.

newtboy says...

And now that you’ve had time to wipe the shit from your eyes and ears have you had the opportunity to realize I was 100% correct again, and/or comprehend this bought and paid for Republican fraud on the Supreme Court needs to go?
Of course not. Anything goes for MAGA, rules, laws, honesty, and ethics are for liberals.
This guy is your BEST…and is just another lying thief that sells their government power to the highest bidder then accuses others of their own crimes. Like all unpatriotic Maggots are.

In his vanity movie, paid for by the same multi billionaire, he actually said “I prefer the RV parks, I prefer the Walmart parking lot to the beaches and things like that. There’s something normal to me about it. I come from regular stock and I prefer that.” Then hopped on a private jet for a 10 day stay on private Indonesian islands valued at well over $500000. You are the kind of dishonest moron that, knowing he takes ultra luxury vacations only billionaires can afford multiple times per year, would still believe his lie that he vacations in RVs in Walmart parking lots because he’s a regular guy. 🤦‍♂️

Taking bribes should be a death penalty offense at that level of government, they’re committing treason.

Bonus- another MAGA Trump “judge”, Carl Nickles, has been overturned. He decided to protect insurrectionists in his court by denying the DOJ the right to charge insurrectionists with obstruction of justice. A 3 judge panel overturned that ruling, reinstating hundreds of cases for obstruction of justice. WINNING!

Second bonus- Turns out Crow also completely funded Ginny Thomas’s Tea Party political action group that lobbied the courts constantly and paid her $120 k per year to run it, also unreported. The equivalent of Soros paying Sotamayor and her family millions a year to rule in his favor then claiming no crime, it was all simply birthday gifts, nothing burger. So much for the sad obvious lie that it wasn’t politically motivated. 😂

Ruh-roe! Seems Jack Smith filed a motion to dissolve attorney client privilege for Trump’s lawyers based on the crime/fraud exception.
Since his lawyers swore under oath there were no more classified documents in Trump’s possession before literally thousands of classified documents were found being hidden in multiple places with multiple warrants, swore a thorough search had been done when they knew it had not, they ARE all complicit in the crimes, so no privilege exists. They will be forced to testify and will lose their law licenses and may still see prison.
D’oh!

Also, Trump’s incompetent fraud architect of the capitol, who is not an architect and has zero experience in conserving historic buildings or restoration, was finally fired for massive abuse of power, extreme incompetence, ethics violations, and extreme misconduct including but not limited to his office leasing 3 luxury cars for his family and repeatedly impersonating a Capitol police officer. Every Trump appointee is a criminal fraud with no experience in the job they were installed in. The shallow state.

As a side note, DeSantis was caught hiding his order to ban firearms from his own events and insisting the venues ban firearms without his public involvement or statements so he could pretend it wasn’t on his order and not under his control, but it was. Another case of “do as I say, not as I do” from righties.

Bonus- The Trump Building is about to go into default, Trump’s biggest asset, and is severely underwater and losing more tenants while expenses rise. He can’t get ANY new loans because he’s cash poor and is about to lose $250 million in just one of many court cases, and is about to lose this one time $400 million building.

Second bonus- the Smartmatic 2.7 billion lawsuit against Fox progressed again, with the judge ruling Fox did slander/libel Smartmatic with malice, having knowledge that what they reported was false.

I’m slow…so I just had the realization that Trump’s escape route into a life of luxury in Russia has also fallen apart. Putin is hardly in a position to offer that anymore. The walls really are closing in, and Trump’s friends didn’t build these walls so they’re sturdy.
I love it when a plan comes together.

The $5BN Mega Resort in the Desert

newtboy says...

I hope this monument to opulence fails miserably and the developers lose their shirts.
There’s no way they won’t damage or destroy that reef.
The first big storm is going to destroy much of the sand island.
But, 10% are special protection zones! Won’t matter, they can’t survive if huge amounts of the non protected reef are destroyed.

Not to mention sea level rise will put it underwater quickly, it’s barely above current sea level in the plans.

Look at Mexico, dozens of comparatively tiny resorts not even on the reefs, but on land, and that reef is not 10% what it was in the mid 80’s. Building ON the reef is guaranteed to destroy it, as is tourism.

I hate when companies are allowed to build on natural wonders to exploit the beauty, they invariably destroy that beauty within decades. That entire reef/coastline should be off limits to construction so the two desert properties have an attraction. When the reefs die from sun tan lotion poisoning, bleaching, sand displacement, accidents with supply ships, the first major fuel spill, etc, that place will be a $5 billion waste, abandoned to the desert.

Remember the “islands of the world” project in Dubai? This sounds even less thought out than they were, more ecologically disastrous, needing more infrastructure to be built, requiring ships to bring fuel as there’s no nearby port to run pipelines from (guaranteeing oil spills). All for what? So billionaires can get off their yachts for a while in luxury?

Wiki-Significant changes in the maritime environment [of Dubai]. As a result of the dredging and redepositing of sand for the construction of the islands, the typically crystalline waters of the Persian Gulf at Dubai have become severely clouded with silt. Construction activity is damaging the marine habitat, burying coral reefs, oyster beds and subterranean fields of sea grass, threatening local marine species as well as other species dependent on them for food. Oyster beds have been covered in as much as two inches of sediment, while above the water, beaches are eroding with the disruption of natural currents.

That was a $12 billion project to exploit the pristine coast and beautiful waters that no longer exist, the islands themselves are sinking and eroding, most were evacuated or never used at all, the water is now mud colored, the reefs are gone. An unmitigated disaster. This sounds extremely similar.

Oppose this and similar projects.

You go to luxury stores or non-luxury stores, supermarkets, and the shelves are half there. And nobody's ever seen it. We didn't even have to discuss supply chain during my administration. Because it was a perfect moving machine. It was beautiful. We created the greatest economy in the history of the world. We created an economy that was better than any economy in history."

Anonymous message to Vladimir Putin

BSR says...

https://www.rawstory.com/putin-yacht-call-sign-hacked/

Vladimir Putin's yacht, Graceful, appears to have a different call sign on a few yacht tracking websites.

As Russian oligarch yachts are being tracked around the world, Putin's luxury boat typically has the call sign UBGV8, according to FleetMon.

But on another website, MarineTraffic, Bloomberg reporter Ryan Gallagher and Good Pillow CEO William LeGate noticed that someone changed the call sign to FCKPTN and its current maritime position is "Hell."

Gallagher tweeted that it was an offshoot group from the hackers Anonymous known as The Anon Leaks,

They "told me they did it by manipulating the maritime 'Automatic Identification System,' which is used to track ship locations," he tweeted. "They said they wanted to put the yacht in the scope of sanction packages as well as 'put a little smile on some faces for a short period in these dark times.'"

Why I’m ALL-IN On Tesla Stock

vil says...

A dollar has value if you can buy shit for a dollar.

Gold likewise has no exchange value if you cant exchange it for goods and services. Its rare and chemically stable and good for memorial coins, has many technical uses and looks cute, but otherwise it hardly matters what symbol for money you choose. There is 200 years of experience with fiat money and gold and silver standards and fiat money has been better, not just usually better or better in some scenario, universally better.

Symbolic money is practical and facilitates quicker turn around prevents deflation makes speculative runs on currency harder and smoothes the economic bumps in the road in general.

GDP is just a metric. Not a bad one but not the actual goal.

USofA is teh most developed. Should have used growing. Deflation in an economy that is growing kills growth.

Restarting countries not only get to ignore their debts, they immediatelly start borrowing again.

The only countries that dont borrow are countries no-one will lend to and countries so rich in some silly resource they can float high in the international currency system without borrowing. Borrowing is good for bussiness.

What is outrageous idiotic bullshit? Believing pegging the value of your paper note to some hoarded luxury makes it a better representation of the mean value of goods and services bought and sold? I could do without gold except for the jacks on my audio cables (just kidding). It does not matter what I exchange for food and gas, if it gets me food and gas, its good money.

Money is what you can pay taxes with. Do they take gold?

If you insist your dollar has the value of some weight of gold how does that influence the willingness of someone else to sell you shit? Unless they specifically intend to buy gold at a fixed price they dont care. They are going to use your dolar to buy some other shit from someone else. So if you take the actual currency out of the equation, when you decide on buying and selling shit you are intuitively comparing that decision with all the other decisions about buying and sellin that you know of. The currency is just a good way to count the measure of usefullness of a product or service and compare among many. Pebbles, bottletops, dollars, gold, pearls, all just a number.

A dollar could be backed by gold or it could not, this has zero impact on the transactions made. What matters is how many transactions are made, at what value, and how much money is available to the entire marketplace in a given period of time. Transactions quickly pass the ability of a gold standard to keep up. If you want a gold standard you have to slow transactions down because you dont have the money for them.

This is why markets need some regulation, otherwise someone might sell the universe twice and then default on one. But a gold standard, at least the type of gold standard I believe was talked about in this thread as a miracle cure, would be too limiting.

Have had LEDs quit within that time frame also. Most vexing is having to replace one LED w/another while the fluorescents in the neighboring sockets are still burning. Quite honestly, in another house, the fluorescents (save a couple) have been running since they were put in >5+ yrs ago.

Also, remember the hub-bub of folks demanding incandescent over those new swirly ice-cream blubs (ire and desire trumps pragmatism). Hearing this, and 'those' people, knew the new bulb types were definitely going to be better.

Having high ceilings, lousy knees and a fear of heights - changing blubs every few years is a luxury.

I know you're joking, but you aren't wrong.

As a Canadian I am pretty sick of hearing some of the very snide attitudes up here about look at us and how we afford public healthcare at similar taxation to the US. How dumb are you guys to be spending so much money on evil killing machines. snicker snicker

The thing of it is though, we spend as good as nothing on military spending by comparison, and yeah, by saving that money we get to cheap out on taxes and still afford the public health program we have. However, we 100% are earning that luxury on the backs of US taxpayers funding a military that protects BOTH our country and theirs.

We are getting a free ride and mocking the driver for spending so much on their car that we absolutely rely upon because our car is missing two wheels and the engine needs to be rebuilt and we're too cheap to be bothered.
