The New MAGA Commercial For Greg Abbot- Whose Choice

luxintenebris says...

so you laughed a long, long, long, long time.

don't know what 'fear porn' is but highly unlikely this qualifies. put it in the category of 'dark satire'.

did you laugh at the 10 yr rape victim? find it hilarious? total scream having political zealots casting doubt on her nightmare - right? or the IN A.G.'s slanderous comments? oh! what fun!

the situation portrayed in the video is a real thing. likely dozens of other scenarios that match. would you like to refute that?

YouTuber tracking down guy who stole his stuff

eric3579 says...

I'd guess that this particular guy would happily trade the legal ramifications, which he may still receive, instead of the shit i imagine he is getting now from every corner of his world. Seems to me there is ample evidence, without the victims desire to prosecute him, and I assume there may be plenty of pressure to do so. He went and stole from a highly prolific internet star hugely popular within the thief's sphere of peoples, i'd imagine. EVERYONE in his community (neighbors, friends, work, church, the social media world, etc.) know of this video and surly he will feel the wrath of his choices for a long long time. Wouldn't be surprised if he loses any job he might have. Maybe even need to move from being completely ostracized from his community. I could easily see it happening in an especially yee-haw area like Rutherford county, Tennessee. He will forever be infamous with this video following him for eternity. I don't wish that shit on anyone, but you know what they say about the bed you've made.

It’s sad that thieves caught red handed are allowed to get away with these blatantly false excuses and half apologies so often.

What Still Works - SNL

watching the republican party implode and large numbers of people leave the party is like sunshine. they've lost any level of credibility at this point and they are assuring democrats will remain in control for a long long time.

Republicans unanimously voted to approve of her insanity, making them officially now the Qpublican party.
Hope it was worth it, morons.

Truth - The Lincoln Project

luxintenebris jokingly says...

something to think about...buchanan is/was considered to be the worst POTUS in history and Lincoln the best. no terms between them.

if history repeats - then biden will be revered...

... and the other guy jeered...for a long long long time...future generations dropping the surname...changing to something more respectable...like snowden.

Auburn Gymnastics: Samantha Cerio Breaks Both Legs

artician says...

It's been a really long time since I've stomached a good gross-out video, so I thought, fuck it, let's go in hard on this one, what the hell?

Phew. This is going to live on the internet for a long, long time.

Do not watch.

Way more painful than that Kickboxing shin-break from way, way back (you know the one!)

I mean, all they said was that we will be honest and good journalist. I guess that is a bad thing now? If you think this is the first time corporate has made on air talent read a script, you have been hiding under a rock for a long, LONG time.

Matt Lauer Sexual Harassment; Trump's Unhinged Tweets

Payback says...

Although the oozing fetid abscess that is institutionalized sexual harassment has needed a good draining for a long, long time, anyone else suspect once they wash this all away with Righteous Indignation (tm) and slap a rainbow bandaid on it, it will just start to fill up again?

Bill Maher - Elizabeth Warren Interview

L0cky says...

That's the great thing about Trump; he's set the trend that skeletons don't matter. I think if Warren runs, she'll bag it easily.

The problem with the Democrat run last time was dismissing Trump's support and why it existed. Warren sounds like she could use that to her advantage next time around.

Personally I think she could be the best potus in a long, long time.

newtboy said:

If only she had joined Bernie as his running mate during the primary, things might be quite different today. Maybe next time.
The right going after her full bore is nothing new, but who knows what skeletons might be hiding.

Lest We Forget: The Big Lie Behind the Rise of Trump

shagen454 says...

I understand what you are saying I would say though that in the past, a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away- media in this country was a bit more "journalistic". Able to take multiple views and be the devil's advocate, if need be. Now everything is streamlined and slimmed down with an agenda set by their corporate sponsors and shareholders. It wasn't ALWAYS like this in the very specific way that it is now.

I think I abstracted my point, sure - Trump would be great for capitalism and business and I do understand why many asshats think "in the box" for that sort of utopian status quo bullshit. Unfortunately, we're no longer in the 50's & 60's... we have MANY issues that demand progressive answers.

Welp, my friends - soon we might just have to join a Snorkel Colony. Thanks Trump, alt-right-wingers & capitalism! I always wanted to go back to my roots in the ocean!

Of course he's right lol -- just like it's right saying that people who had more money than Charles Manson made him jealous enough to direct his cult to murder Sharon and friends, even though he was mad at the prior rich fucks at the same residence.

Great,It's so brilliant how Bob Knight describes why idiots do what a psychopath tells them about their own insecurities. Jesus. When was the media NOT a shithole?

Obamacare in Trump Country

worm says...

Social security isn't a hand out. It is a HORRIBLE investment program that has been warped and disfigured from it's original purpose. At least people HAVE been paying into it for a LONG time. I'm not exactly surprised that they want to reap SOME sort of benefit for it.

Tax breaks (that favor specific companies or markets) are government handouts. Speaking of solar, how did our government handout for Solyndra do? Must have been a Red state... no?

Medicare as well is something that has been taken out of people's checks (you know, people with actual jobs) for a long long time. Again, not surprising that people expect to get something for that...

In my experience, in general country folk are very independent folk and are generally self reliant. If you want to find locations in the USA where people thrive off of governmental handouts, pick up a map that shows all the blue counties/parishes/districts/etc.

newtboy said:

For a group that CLAIMS they don't want handouts, they sure do have their arms outstretched, palms up constantly. Of course, they say a tax break isn't a handout (unless it's a tax break for, say, installing solar), they say social security isn't a handout, Medicare isn't a handout ('keep your government hands out of my Medicare' was my favorite tea party slogan).
True, the ACA wasn't voluntary, but all those other programs they use (and usually use more than they contribute, and more than "blue" states) are voluntary, so that argument falls flat.

Native American Protesters Attacked with Dogs & Pepper Spray

bcglorf says...

I've heard this revisionist history BS so many times now I just can't stand it anymore. There was no magical 'gifting' of Palestinian land to invading European Jews. That's a completely baseless self justification for Middle Eastern anti-jewish hate mongering.

Jewish people were a significant percentage of the population in Palestine long before the Nazi's and their ilk started making Europe look unpleasant. They were Palestinians themselves, not invaders. Both Arab and Jewish Palestinians lived side by side in Palestine for a long, long time before the 1940s. Clearly, come the 1940's there was a large influx of Jewish people from Europe. Calling them 'invaders' versus refugees though seems an easy call given the holocaust and Nazi occupation of the whole of Europe. Still, you insist on calling them invaders. I don't have words for how disgusting that is.

So, in the mid 1940's we have a Palestine loaded with Jewish and Arab Palestinians, plus a good number of Jewish refugees. The tensions between those groups escalates into a full on civil war. Not an invasion, but a civil war between Jewish and Arab palestinians where the only group remotely fitting the 'invader' role are holocaust survivor refugees now in a country were there is AGAIN a war against them on the basis of being Jews. I'm not sure I think they are as callously the aggressor. What is more, upon the UN mandating a two state solution to the whole mess, the Jewish Palestinians immediately accepted. The Arab Palestinians though appealed to the Arab league, and many of the leaders within it that stood alongside the Nazi's pontificating solutions to 'the problem'. So now a fledgling independent Jewish state spent it's first day receiving a join declaration of war upon it by all it's neighbouring countries that each out numbered it grossly. I again can't but see the Israeli fighting as defensive. In fact, I must insist it was an existential fight that, should they have lost, would have us discussing the second and even worse holocaust of the European Jews that fled to Palestine.

But I know it's popular today among pseudo intellectual circles to just declare Israel an invasion and occupation by a foreign army of vastly militarily superior super jews. It's a fantasy though, and it's one that was scripted up by hateful racists to justify their hatred. None of that says anything about white-washing Israeli policies in the decades following. If you want to call them invaders from the start though you are speaking a truly horrific set of lies.

newtboy said:

To an extent, I agree, but if you're willing to bomb a school expecting mostly non combatant children to be the victims because someone made a model rocket there, you are the evil party in my eyes. Israel has no qualms about killing a hundred civilians to target a single combatant. That makes them the evil party to me.

Australia, or...maybe...Germany.
I get that it's a non starter today, but when Israel was being created, it would have made far more sense to give them part of Germany instead of the middle east, IMO. That said, yes, anywhere else would be preferable at this point, specifically somewhere they PAY for, not somewhere they simply take control over by force. As it stands, they have lost the moral high ground completely, and squandered much of the sympathy they were due after WW2 with their aggressive and completely non empathetic actions since.

Japanese Girl Is A Better Drummer Than You

criticalthud says...

in my own practice, for a long, long time i found myself practicing my strengths, and i never really got far. Spun my wheels a lot. It appealed to my ego, but that was it. I think we tend to do this a lot as a society.
After a Berklee Music workshop in which I learned that most 7th graders had better fundamentals than myself, I almost quit music. I was pretty down. but...I kept working on getting over myself, and began focusing on my weaknesses instead of my strengths..., which really made me feel considerably retarded, but I kept at it.
With drumming, the weakness is generally the left side. And it was with me. No left side = no independence. So i worked at that, a lot. and in my late 30's, my muscianship took a huge positive step forward.
I'd say, practice your weaknesses, play your strengths. you can do it.
the approach dictates what you get. imho.

Talent will get you so far.
So will hard work and practice.

Want to be great? you need both.

Talent is meaningless without the dedication to build on it. Likewise (sadly) you can practice til you bleed, but you'll never overcome your innate lack of ability (I know, I've tried).

This girl clearly has both. Now, she just needs to dial it back a notch on the fills and let her groove show. Remember, the musicians serve the song, not the other way round.

Rumsfeld held to account. Too many great quotes to pick one
