Florida Governor Rick Scott Gets Served

Mordhaus says...

I would say that, as Governor, if he is out mingling with the public it is in an official capacity. He has guards, lackeys, and others that could have ran in and got the coffee if he didn't want to be exposed to praise (or criticism).

It may also have been the only venue available, ever, to that lady to say something to him. She could have protested outside his offices or complained via email, but those things are easily ignored. Now if she had thrown something or attacked him, I would say it wasn't appropriate.

ChaosEngine said:

While I agree with almost everything she said, unless he was there in an "official" capacity, I don't think starbucks is an appropriate venue to harass him over it.

But if he's just trying to get an overpriced terrible coffee, then he has a right to do so without people shouting at him.

Putin Tells Everyone Exactly Who Created ISIS

coolhund says...

To think that the USA has for once not used proxies to deliver weapons, is, to put it mildly, insane. They had training camps since the beginning in Jordan. Same as the UK and France. There were huge old stockpiles of weapons in the Balkan for example. They somehow found their way to Syria into FSA hands, even though Saudis, Qataris, and Turkish mainly supported Al Nusra and IS. TOWs found their way to those extremists. Actually the USA sent those officially.

Of course Russia has its own interests there, but its not destabilization. That alone is reason enough to support them instead of the USA and their lackeys and boot lickers.

It has never been proven that Assad used chemical weapons. The investigators couldnt even find good indications for it. But that the extremists used chemical weapons in other cases was later confirmed. Funnily there wasnt such a huge fuss about it. Hmmm... wonder why.
The extremists also made it clear from the beginning that they dont want a successor from the current leader. They want power. They want a Sunni regime.

You then saying the ABM shield is only directed at Iran is ridiculous to say the least. MAD has its reason and saved us from otherwise certain global nuclear war quite a few times in the past. A shield like that can circumvent MAD, which is a wet dream of the neocons, always has been. Thats why the USA left the ABM treaty, NOT Russia.

Sad to see you didnt read the link (or ignored it) I linked you before. Instead you keep spewing out lies.

RedSky said:

Military support of Syrian rebels in the US has by all accounts been minimal, it's primarily been non-arms tactical equipment. Arms support has come largely from the Gulf states / Iran. The idea that the US fomented the Syrian civil war is also largely groundless. If you want to talk about the private military sector, let's not forget that Russia is a major arms exporter.

Meanwhile Russia has armed and provided direct bombing to support Assad directly, a guy who uses chemical weapons and barrel bombs on his people to intimidate them. His priorities are to protect his only Mediterranean port in the Middle East and to use his war footing to prop up his own domestic support the same way he did in Ukraine.

If he wanted to end the conflict he would have pressured Assad to step down in favor and have the successor negotiate a settlement and eventual elections with the rebels. Instead he's poured fuel on the fire. The longer these conflicts last, the more radicalized the opposition becomes. Now that he's let it play out and fanned the flames, he can blame the US for creating the mess.

Last Week Tonight With John Oliver: Online Harassment

GenjiKilpatrick says...

Meh, that's debatable.

The women involved in the original scandal didn't claim to feel harassed.

She didn't even see the infamous picture.

In fact, she herself thought it was a obscene prank perpetrated by some conservatives who disapproved of her support for Weiner. (hehe)

Furthermore, the leakers weren't "whistleblowers" doing some ground-breaking investigative reporting on corrupt politicians.

They were right-wing lackeys who monitored Weiners communicates with the specific intent to dig up dirt.

From Wikipedia--

According to the New York Times, evidence later revealed that..

So..

Seems like Breitbart henchmen were hunting for some character-assassination dirt..

And Weiner accidentally handed it to them on a silver platter. (Hah)

There were supposedly 5 other women he sexted, and those scenarios may possibly constitute sexual harassment..

But, as far as the original scandal & dick-pic seen 'round the nation go..

A hilarious mistake lead to shaming and the end of a career.

Which sucks because Anthony Weiner was a fierce politician who was fighting the good fight.

So yeah, bad example for Oliver to pick.

SDGundamX said:

..whistleblowers couldn't be charged with a crime for revealing evidence of sexual harassment to the press..

Great talk. Covers a lot of very important key areas.

It is utterly ridiculous that so many people just do not care about this, and to be honest this is what concerns AND scares me about the future of humanity. To understand and to give a flying f*ck about these topics you must be knowledgeable and fairly smart (and also realize that your government AND others are NOT your friend--if you ever give someone power they MUST be held accountable and have a regulatory process--though these people "can" be your friend, but only when they truly are used by the people and not the government, lackeys, elected officials, and other idiots that make cronyism look like a mild and easily dealt with issue compared to this stuff...). This is an education system and social system problem (at least in the U.S.; we simply just DO NOT care about these topics very much even though we will regret it), and it is hard to fix since in many cases the "fix" must go through the same government that has a stranglehold on their populace and wishes it to remain this way...

People simply do not understand why we talk about this (or they "fall asleep" because it's "too boring", etc...), along with this they also don't care about science and other issues that require your brain to actually do work. So all issues that deal with complex areas of technology and/or science are now up for "dibs" by the highest bidders AND also governments. Both are scary, for many reasons...especially when you have a populace that really and truly does not understand that they are being used in so many different areas of their lives (which is true even now, and it will only become far, far worse).

So, I'm always happy to see these talks, but they will not truly succeed in any of their efforts until they make the "masses" aware of the issues and concerned of the issues.

I also appreciated his quote about the economic viability of slavery, used as a metaphor for the the moral use of torture and whether torture should ever be used to get, anything--I fully agree with this sentiment. Both, are always wrong.

Good talk. Though it is sad there are so very little ways to respond to the threats that some of these issues can represent, that they showed and talked about.

enoch (Member Profile)

radx says...

A fascinating episode in the struggle between unions and the establishment is currently taking place over here. A change in the regulations of union membership within a company allowed the union of railroad engineers to grow a pair and actually represent their members in a meaningful way.

Keep in mind, unions over here were not busted, but subverted instead. "Domesticated", you might say. Now here's a small union in posession of tremendous leverage: if the trains stop rolling, half the country grinds to a halt.

Many corporate lackeys in government got scared and a new law was proposed to curtail the power of smaller unions. A law that is deemed quite unconstitutional, by the way.

And that's when the umbrella organisation of this small union pitched in with a statement that can be summed up unequivocally as "it's on, bitches". It's just rhetoric so far, but the small union already made good on their threats last month, so I'm somewhat hopeful that we'll finally get to see some meaningful pushback against the war on unions.

ARRESTED FOR ANTI-OBAMA POSTS

chingalera says...

Your perfect-world news-report fantasy works fine in theory, does it?..'peer reviewed' till the cattle are housed in mandatory temporary-to-permanent dirt-floor & barbed-wire accommodations CE??....Maybe your own verbal ticks will develop into a similar, "well, very specifically" when you are NOT being arrested lawfully and tossed into an asylum where a company doctor can render you insane, deprogram you, and use you as an 'example' of what one can or can't say on Facebook?

Forest-for-the-trees lackeys are a dime-a-dozen at a peer-reviewed fantasy camp on the outskirts of (insert city or town near you in the future you've helped to create).

You are already on planet police-state, keep up the fine work and pour-through those tomes of toilet paper and perhaps hone your own 'axe' (a fucking metaphor for reason or wisdom, the kind that cuts both ways....HELLO?!)

How bout an interview?

ChaosEngine said:

Sorry, but regardless of whether this story turns out to be accurate or not, @Yogi's stance is completely valid.

One of the major problems in the world now is people who believe things without questioning them. News reports should have to provide evidence, cite sources, etc. If you make a scientific claim in an advertisement, I want to see a peer reviewed study that backs it up.

Abby Martin denounces Russian actions in Ukraine

chingalera says...

Clear, but I considered it unnecessary. Until the majority of alternative media starts speaking clearly as to the source of the disinformation disease that has created the world we live in, no news is real news.

Until the veil is lifted to expose the criminality of world governments and the families and complicit lackeys responsible for the amalgamation of power into a single world governing body all the endless banter over particular recent political and economic events without reaching farther back historically, for me negates all reasonable context for what's happening now.

It's the powers behind the puppets and pawns who need to have their shit scrutinized and reported upon, until they have nowhere to hide.

Follow the goddamn money, the entire collection of the world's ill's reside in monopolistic control by assholes, of the worldwide financial system.

Banks, insurance companies, lawyers, doctors, all work well when there is a healthy atmosphere of fear and dread, THIS is the only real power geopolitical manipulators have.

The world's fear they have and continue to instill. They do it by manipulating economies, enforcing laws with soldiers, and through complex and not-so-complex, continual distraction and disinformation.

Like Herbert said, "Fear is the mind-killer."

Ain't implying shit off anyone's nuts-Stating succinctly that the guys' a douche-hammer placed in position to be used as another media whore to disseminate filler and mush into gullible heads to fill in the spaces where thinking normally occurs in healthy minds.

Could it be, that anything which would deter from the attempt by media whores grooming this nobody's rise to journalistic stardom takes priority over say, some shitty copyrighted crap movie or has-been celebrity owned by Viacom?? Probably.

I'm implying that this guy's a major douchebag who has absolutely nothing to say of note or report to anyone but lackeys who feed on worthless news.

It Doesn't Get Better

I was in honors and AP classes with all the legit bullies at my high school. At least 2 of them played football, got scholarships and now work in biotech. So these bullies work for bullying corporations, they drive awesome cars, have families and fuck more women than ever.

Sadly, it's the bully's lackeys that take on the weight of this perceived punishment. You were just too blind to know who was pulling the strings in the first place.

Cycle continues, as it always has, as it always will.

Meet The Store Owner Who Shot Five Gang Members

chingalera says...

Glad to see fewer and fewer 'NRA bad (cue chimpanzee sounds)' comments here as well VoodooV. I would also point-out that the 'new west, cops and robbers' scenario is much more frightening a prospect considering that it's the intentional breeding grounds for absurd levels of criminal activity that is the systemic result of the insanity of a once prosperous country's hijacking by political/totalitarian criminals since the 60's 'hippies' sold-out and became corporate lackeys and lawyers of and for, the criminally insane.

"NRA soundbite of "buy a gun! pew pew pew! bad guys dead, live happily ever after!" would be one interpretation of the NRA's message, another would be, "Hey dumbass? Arm yourselves against being one of the first to go when the government fails you and the future you thought you had disappears overnight."

@Sundamx-He won, he's alive and the bad guys are dead. Five people dead IS a win if those 5 people still walked the planet the broken, unrepentant, criminal thugs that they were destined to remain.

You're ill-informed if you think that 'no amount of training will stop a bullet' besides, that sounds like a sound bite from an idiot and all-to-vocal fringe of semi-conscious do-nothings.

Not so much dumb luck in this scenario when you crunch the outcome and consider the body count.

VoodooV said:

Good on him. I'm glad this didn't get portrayed as just some guy thinking he was playing cops and robbers in the old west

he knew he was in danger, he armed himself and not only that he actually trained vigorously, something I don't think most people do. He did what he needed to do...and he doesn't glorify it. In the end, he pays a price and lives in fear anyway even though he succeeded.

you're exactly right @SDGundamX, it doesn't fit into the NRA soundbite of "buy a gun! pew pew pew! bad guys dead, live happily ever after!"

Japanese Dolphin Hunt Condemned By World

chingalera says...

Again SD, I concur and appreciate your input and correct observation of my offhanded statements and I still hold Japan as a nation, responsible for their own cultural dysfunction.

The UN can suck a cock, and I appreciate sincerely your admonition of my obvious limitations. I must say here as well to newtboy, that you mistakenly assume rage when quite the contrary energized the fits you appropriately identified. If I am mad at all, it is only because of my diversion of staring into the mirror of souls at length, only to see all of mankind as equals.

The United Nations is a complete and utter piece of shit SD and it saddens to see the world as a lackey to their ruse. Perhaps give more of a fuck about the world you inhabit to evoke that illusory institution and racism in the same sentence?

I also consider paper currencies and television as tools of control, slavery, and as many vile things in the hands of children as you can imagine.

Just so we're clear, I don't want you to leave the Sift, nor do I want you to tone down your anti-establishment commenting. I only went to @dag because you violated Sift commenting guidelines (see http://videosift.com/faq#comments specifically the part about "blatantly racist comments"). Dag agreed and you got a warning.

No one is banning you, no one is saying you don't belong here, no one is even saying "play nice" in the comment threads.

We're saying the Sift is not a forum for racist commentary. It's already been explained to you why your original comment was racist (i.e. ascribing negative traits to an entire group of people based on their ethnicity*).

No, I don't think that you, personally, are a racist.

But your comment was, whether you believe it or not. Deal with it and move on.

*Just so you're aware, the UN makes no distinction between "race" and "ethnicity" when discussing racism and racial discrimination. That is why I'm not engaging you in your attempts to justify your comments on the basis that you don't believe in races or the allegations that by calling out racism, I am somehow endorsing the notion of "races".

Bill Nye the Science Guy Dispels Poverty Myths

Lawdeedaw says...

The problem isn't that there are warlords. The problem is that they are replaceable. Kill one, ten more weeds pop up. In fact, with the size of the world and population, all that you are asking is getting rid of weeds, say, in the State of Florida. Not a big task in a small garden, but... (I am speaking of the replacement rate, which is much higher than the current number of war lords and their lackeys.)

poolcleaner said:

I think these so-called unstoppable warlords that siphon off our aid is an even bigger myth. The United States of America defeated the British Empire, invaded Nazi Europe, dropped a nuclear fucking bomb on Axis Japan, sacrificed thousands of lives in Vietnam, stood head to head against the USSR during the Cuban Missile Crisis, landed on the moon, funded Nicaraguan revolutionaries using money from arms sales to Iran, assassinated Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, lied about weapons of mass destruction and invaded Iraq, fight the Taliban in Afghanistan, and yet we can't deal with warlords and civil wars in Africa where (at least with Rwandan civil war) weaponry is in the form of crate after crate of machetes made in China?

If all of those things are possible for the biggest super power in the world, how is it not possible to stop these warlords from siphoning our aid?

Lies.

We don't care so nothing of real consequence happens. All of those above events have one thing in common: our own goddamn self interest.

Everything sucks. May god have mercy on everyone's soul.

The Heist that Changed History

...and those programmed to be left-leaning are as distracted by bread and circuses as the worst of the clueless right-The real power comes for the left if gears change and the focus becomes financial institutions and political lackeys who fool you into thinking your power is in a vote or a cause-They hook you with bleeding-heart pet-causes and the distraction continues-

There is no stopping the insanity of a world controlled by a hi-jacked economy and you are powerless unless this becomes the focus of all activism. The FBI is untouchable today, as well as the surveillance infrastructure. All these pieces of the puzzle become powerless when you stop paying attention to the farcical slave-economy and the coming world police state.

The real success of programming shagen, comes from each generation becoming thicker, stupider, and programmed to be slaves for shit-tickets to buy more 'stuff' with.

All you need is food and love babies, and they have almost cornered the market on edibles that are not toxic for body, mind, and soul.

The shit they are capable of today makes Cointelpro look like a kindergarten spelling test.

Wholly disagree with the idea that the exposure of Coinitelpro caused the government to "reign-in" a GODDAMN thing. They simply do what all failing or exposed nefarious empires do when their shit starts to stink to everyone....They go into hiding or became instantly more sophisticated then provided a suitable distraction with money and television bullshitting.

Hardly much more sophisticated, the fucking president a year later used his own intelligence resources to break-into the Watergate hotel-A lot of sleepy motherfuckers on this sight should wake the fuck up and stop smelling their own farts long enough to realize that the 'left' and 'right' are the same fucking illusion.

Humans are easily-programmable units and universities are a perfect place to begin a new era of bullshit.

The program has never changed, and these fucks hold all cards except the mind and soul cards.
