Study: ALL Men Watch Porn (TYT)

shagen454 says...

Pornography may be mainstream with easy access to alright 20 minute scenes ; but it is not absolutely accepted. I've lived in fairly open homes where girlfriends, girls who were in opposition to porn and in general could walk in and out freely so I had to be fairly careful with my own porn consumption.

Not only were there women around who had great disdain for porno but in the household were men who also hated the thought of porno. Now, mind you - KINK.COM's "huge fucking castle" was the next block down in a very very liberal part of town. On the same block was some orgy house where some of it's participants every now and then thought our front door was the entrance to their ultimate fantasies. I always knew which way to point them, "Oh, I think I know what you're looking for..."

Everyone knew I watched porn and I stuck up for other men's porn habits but I still had to be on edge all the damn time to get a wank. It just wasn't right! Sometimes your gf isn't in the mood, sometimes you're pissed at your gf and you're not in the mood, sometimes there just isn't enough time... I don't like the thought of my politics in porno so I say fuck - let it be; and let me watch it if I so choose. If a girlfriend doesn't like it - just encourage her to go watch some.

I swear that being anti-porn is the beginning of the progessive pendulum swing back to being tie-jerking conservatives and we just don't need any more of those.

I feel your pain. I just went through hell installing a new wireless router (which should have been easier than hell, but of course, wasn't), but I seem to have worked out all the kinks finally. It's the kind of shit that drives a man to drink. Not that I need much of a push in the first place.

In reply to this comment by Stormsinger:
Looks fine on dailymotion, so it must be a youtube issue. That's good news, in my view...after being virtually offline for the last three weeks, I was gonna have a major temper tantrum if this new cable connection was injecting such problems into my video streaming. LOL

Thanks for clearing it up.

In reply to this comment by kronosposeidon:
It's not the highest quality video, but I'm not detecting any stutter or other serious corruption issues. Maybe a YouTube issue? Hell I don't know; I'm not very tech-savvy. Here it is on Dailymotion, maybe it will play better for you:

In reply to this comment by Stormsinger:
Is all the stutter and video-corruption intentional, or just some bizarre side effect of my new connection?

Yeah, it's taken me forever to get that promoted. I'm going to make it my personal goal to get it sifted. The Easybeats are the first ever Aussie export rock band, achieving a British hit during the era of the Beatles, the Stones, the Kinks - some tough competition. After skyrocketing to celebrity status, they crashed spectacularly and burned.

Announcing the New VideoSift Embed Widget (Sift Talk Post)

Is for Sift blogs only? Tried it at www.krupo.ca and had no luck, so I went with more YT link. Hmm?

Yes, it's definitely for external sites (and primarily so). I've made some tweaks after finding a small bug that might have been causing the issue.

Please try again and if it doesn't work, provide the script tag that you're trying with as well as a link to the page at krupo.ca on which you're using it.

Thanks for trying it out and helping us work out the kinks!

Should We Bring back the Siftquisition? (redux) (User Poll by dag)

>> ^dag:
I make no apologies for the fact that the Sift is a social experiment.
What we're attempting to prove is that the more power given to a community's individual constituents- the more effective, fun and interesting the community will be.

You're acting like siftquisitions are some kind of wacky new idea you want to try out for the first time -- not something that's been done, was destructive and ultimately removed by the community.

I'm still waiting for any indication that there have been any kind of kinks or problems in the post-siftquisition videosift that warrant bringing back sanctioned lynch-mobs.... er, siftquisitions. Siftquistions. That's what I meant to say.

Fusion is energy's future

GeeSussFreeK says...

Interesting. My knowledge on fusion is limited to the basic function of it. I know little to nothing about reaction fusion technology. My brain finds it hard to fathom that harnessing the power of the sun couldn't have volatile reputations. More over, IF one fails, the cost of fixing it and how regularly it would fail are questions that I think are valid. A power station going offline for a year isn't the answer to a power crisis really.

For me, I have always liked the KISS principle to energy. Many small manageable solutions. Granted, I think fusion reactor technology is still smart to look to, but only for our really cool space ships and ray guns (like an ion cannon to clear an escape from Hoth). In other words, there are most likely easier and safer, more reliably ways to get our power...right?

(what I mean basically is this seems like one of those things that will get here when it gets here...but for a good solution now, it is not that. And even when it gets here, it's going to take awhile to get all the kinks out. Solar and hydrogen fuel cells seem like a real solution now that is already very mature and fairly plug and play with current technology.)

>> ^Psychologic:
>> ^GeeSussFreeK:
The problem to me with a fusion plant is the energy density. If a catastrophe were to happen, how much of a city would go with it...or how much of a country? I have always liked the idea of everything being its own power station.

The danger of fission is radioactivity. All a "meltdown" does, as far as actual damage, is destroy the reactor. However, it can release radioactive isotopes into the environment, which brings enormous health risks. Fission is self-sustaining, so if the containment fails, the reaction can continue. It should also be noted that fission reactors are far safer today than they were in the past.
Fusion does not have this problem. If the system fails then the reaction stops. It might damage the reactor, but even if the magnet exploded (which would only be a local event) there would be no danger to the surrounding area. As far as I know, the only radiation threat would involve tritium, which is only one fuel method for fusion, and even then there would be far less danger than from a fission reaction.

Thanks a lot for bringing that to my attention. There did seem to be some kind of a kink in our indexer. I did a bit of kicking and smoke started coming out of it, but I think it should be working again.

In reply to this comment by SlipperyPete:
Lucky,
Are videos being properly indexed at the moment? It seems that there's an larger than usual number of dupes these last couple of days, and running searches on terms used in titles & tags don't seem to be generating the results you'd expect.

For example, I did a search for "Travis Pastrana", and neither of these vids came up in the results:
http://www.videosift.com/video/Travis-Pastrana-jumps-269-feet-over-Long-Beach-Harbour
http://www.videosift.com/video/Travis-Pastrana-leaps-into-new-year-with-record-jump

Similarly, searches for terms used in both these dupes failed to generate any results (search term = reality show bus):

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Hacked Since Day 1

Throbbin says...

So that's what a wallhack looks like.

I always stick to the same 2 or 3 servers for COD4, all with strict Punkbuster and immediate IP ban for cheaters, so I never really saw what it looked like. It's so maddening! AAARRGGGHHH!

Great sift. Maybe I'll pick it up in a month when some of the kinks have been ironed out.

Hilarious Irish Rally Co-Driver

Mookal says...

^
In many rallies (including WRC) drivers are allowed to pre-run the stages with their co-driver and create their own pacenotes. Other times the organizers provide official pacenotes that all teams must use.

Each team has their own style, but pacenotes are a sequence of shorthand created to describe the course. Particularly, the distance to, and severity of corners along with other track anomalies such as jumps or cautions. This particular team (crazy as they are) used speed guidance as well, by means of proper gear selection.

In example:
100 K right 2 into 400 flat

Would be read on the course to mean 100 meters to a level 2 severity kink to the right which then opens to a 400 meter flat. Bend severity is generally rated 1-5/6 where 1 is tight and 5/6 is loose (this can be flipped, depending). Flat means floor it!
