Al Franken shows us how it's done.

Jamie Leigh Jones is accusing 7 KBR of drugging and "gang-raping" her. As the video says she's been trying 4 years to get her day in court. Now I know that a corporation is not a moral entity however it is filled with people, as well as the people in the justice department who've had this pass by their desks. How could human beings be so callous and just plain evil to deny a hearing about this. I'd like a list of all the people that are in charge and are blocking this hearing so they could be made public.

Selfishness is much more complex than you may or may not realize

No, it really isn't.

Selfishness is the likes of Madoff, Abramoff, and credit card swindlers who jack up APRs for no other reason than to squeeze what they can out of a person.

Selfishness is KBR, Haliburton, and Xe.

Selfishness is what screwed this country and threatens the world.

Your paean to selfishness is not very well thought out, and not very funny, either.

The opposite of selfishness isn't megalomaniacal philanthropy, it's simple fairness.

Hillary's Eloquent Response to Republican on Woman's Rights

Well said L0cky, dag, and raverman.

I get a kick out of Winston's use of the word 'freedom' - as if it is limiting someones freedoms by socializing medicine. Here in Canada, I can choose my own family doctor, choose which hospital I go to, etc.

I am always wondering why the very people (conservatives) who despise government are always running in elections to run it. It's like me trying to get a job on the board of Monsanto or KBR - it doesn't make sense.

But, I guess, if Winston isn't looking out for the insurance company's interests, who is going to?

EDIT - Winston's citing of 'freedom' reminds me of this guy.

Limbaugh: I hope Obama 'fails'

Kevlar says...

You go, Rush! God forbid we reconsider any shred of privatization; I mean, if we did what'll happen to our ol' Mom & Pops like KBR who won't be able to put food on the table for the kids? Will they have to electrocute them to death in faulty showers in Iraq on an empty stomach?

Army cadets take trash-talking to new heights

Yeah, it would be a whole lot funnier if they weren't using a taxpayer-purchased helicopter that's worth more than my life. Then again, this is just a drop in the bucket next to KBR.

Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama on Meet The Press

Thanks NetRunner, I'll take that into consideration.

Cute, Blankfist - a self-referencing reference. Good thing you're not in the Matrix.

You know why I've never liked Libertarians? Because they are the anarchists of conservatism.

They are the people who finally woke up and saw what a sham the Republican party was, but were still too spineless to denounce it outright.

So they simply claimed that it wasn't conservative enough for them.

Not one real leftist was for the invasion of Afghanistan or Iraq.

Not one of us was for the torture of "enemy combatants."

Not one of us was for unwarranted domestic surveillance.

Not one of us was for giving the military industrial complex (e.g. Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater, and all of those other leaches) power over our politics, foreign and domestic.

You call the Bush administration "leftist" simply because you cannot bear to face the fact that you sided with the devil.

If Bush is “left” what am I? A commie?

Oh the irony, Lansing is the capital of Michigan, run by what? Oh that's right, a DEMOCRATIC canadian wench for a governor who has tried (and mainly succeeded) in running the state into the ground.

Sure, Bill, and she was also responsible for Enron, Worldcom, Tyco, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brother...oh, wait, she wasn't.

And those banks that gave out all of those bad loans, they're all owned and run by a bunch of liberal Democrats, too, I guess.

Oh! And the Democrat in Lansing is responsible for sending our troops to Iraq at the cost of half a trillion dollars (and counting), and she's in cahoots with other liberals like KBR and Haliburton and Blackwater who have a history of overcharging for their services, too.

Yeah, it's all her fault.

Actually, I find it far more horrible that they're there because of a lie and the men behind that lie shall never be brought to justice. That lie has cost over 100,000 deaths. Meanwhile, Bush is having such a good time, he feels completely comfortable dancing on television.

The name of the fellow that needs to go to prison is George W. Bush.

The one sergeant is dead, but I think the remainder got shocked yet survived. AFAIK, electrocution ≠ death by electricity.

It's not my intention, however, to downplay this egregious state of affairs. My deployment was to a safe part of the Gulf and our base was as comfy as they come, but after five months even we started to get a little stir-crazy and began snapping at each other. When I imagine going to war and then having to worry about getting shocked (to death, no less) in my own shower -- the mind boggles.

Isn't KBR also responsible for having supplied troops with almost septic like water, spoiled food and a list of other misery inducing problems? But that's okay cause I'm sure some VP got a big bonus for cutting 'unnecessary' quality control and saving the company a couple million.

This is how Bush supports the troops

NetRunner says...

To build on what dft said, the title "This is how the Bush-controlled Pentagon, using the funds Congress approved for them, manages the contracts with the Military-Industrial Complex to support the troops" just doesn't have the same ring.

The way I see it, the shit may roll downhill, but responsibility rolls uphill.

The Congress plays a role, but their two hundred billion cents on this topic was to overfund the Pentagon, and said "use this money to buy body armor and MRAPS for the troops".

I don't think they'd have minded if the Pentagon reallocated these guys a few million to put them up in off-base housing, like the father in the vid suggested. Certainly better than paying Blackwater and KBR billions for the bang-up job they're doing.

I'm sorry you've lived in places worse than this, especially if it was within the United States. I don't think that makes this excusable.
