Congrats! I must have missed the post.. I don't read the Sifttalk as often as I should =(

Hubby was mentioning that we need a 'Crime' channel after I posted an arsonist video.

I have though of 'Oceans' or something water related.. 'Watersports' sounds too kinky though (geez, the Internet took my innocense.. the things I have seen, not willingly, lol =) )

I wish we could have an 'idiots' channels, but I think that's the 'wtf' and 'eia' combined. Medical, as mentioned, would be needed, also the 'green' channel..

I'd love to have a 'baking' channel, but I don't think you'd want to create it =) 'Coffee', or 'Drink' would be good, suggested to me.. I think I am going to create 'Europe (or European)' or '90's' channel.. or not, I really have hard time deciding.

I would also LOVE to have a 'hunks' channel but I don't think it is going to happen. 'Celebrities' or 'Gossip' is also out there =)

How about a 'Fire' channel, seeing so many flammable things.. =)

@Obsidian, no offense taken. After all, the sift is all about having healthy discussions about any possible topic (and, oh, yeah, also about posting vid’s ;-)). I deliberately posted this in response to the porn sift talk we still seem to be having somewhere else, to see how much comment a vid with naked hunks would raise. And, I’m not sure that I got what I expected, but I definitely didn’t expect this to happen while I was asleep (I’m at GMT+1) and have to admit that it’s... quite interesting.

@RadHazG, well said!!! Finally, some input that makes sense. Can we bend the rules a little so that s/he can become a member just on the basis of adding some sense to a heated discussion without her/him having posted any vid’s ;-)?

Sorry, you weren't being civil. You made a comment to someone who felt uncomfortable with you doing so, then when you saw it upset people, instead of apologizing you did this. There is nothing else to discuss here. You made an offhanded sexual remark towards a woman on the internet and now you're upset because you see your words actually effect others. I will protect my girl at all costs. I will admit I overreacted. Like I said I'm really protective of my girl. I apologize for flying off the handle but this shit happens ALL THE TIME on other websites. Someone hits on my girl just because she's female. I reacted to this in the same way I reacted to more extreme forms of sexual comments. It's hard to say whether it was considered sexual harassment, but it's unwelcome sexual attention. What else could you have possibly meant by your comment other then "If you don't like hunks, I'm pale and scrawny, let's talk." I didn't like it, she didn't like it, that's what matters. I shouldn't have been rude about it, but I have other things going on in my life that affect my mood where I'm short tempered. Do me a favor and don't talk to my girl in a sexual manner unless you know her and know she is comfortable with that kind of humor. It'd be best to follow that rule for any member of the opposite sex you meet but I'm not going to tell you how to live your life. I WILL tell you what's crossing the line in my and my girl's life though.

8. Stone Boy - Dag Wintem, better known as Stone Boy. Well Dag had this idea. Perhaps his ability to turn to stone might do some greater good in the universe. Thus he contacted the Legion of Superheroes to see if they could use him. So what else could Dag do? Was he super strong? Nope. Did he control rock in any way? Uh-huh. All he could do was turn to stone. Once in stone form Dag couldn't move or talk. All he did was just turn into an unmovable hunk of stone. Anyhow, the Legion didn't feel they had any use for Dag, but then the Legion lacked imagination. Dag joined the ranks of the Legion of Substitute Heroes, a group of Legion rejecties who formed their own superhero group to fight evil when the Legion was otherwise tied up on another mission. Led by Polar Boy and Night Girl, the Subs found lots of good uses for Stone Boy. For instance, hoisting Stone Boy above their enemies heads and dropping him was about as effective as dropping a piano on a bad guy. Also, they could often use Stone Boy as a hard object to throw villains into. Stone Boy made a great battling ram as well. I mean, with a bit of determination, imagination and know how, Stone Boy had his uses. However, that doesn't stop him from being kinda lame. Stone boy (Or Dag as he's more affectionately known) now runs a large video voting site called videosift.

You can bet the cute little kid was made up, lit and photographed by professionals and even then got retouched in the production stage.

I agree that you never hear about sterotypes of male beauty despite every ad on tv either features the hunk or the wimpy loser to laugh at. Studies continually highlight the rise in male anorexia and image disorders, year after year, because business smells money to be made in male cosmetics. Advertisers will do or say anything to sell the product and keep their contract.

My opinion might not carry much weight among veteran Sifters™ but I personally wouldn't categorize this as snuff. My best friend who was over in Iraq (though he wasn't a marine) for a year stopped by yesterday and we had a long talk (over a smoke) about his fond & not-so-fond experiences over there, among many other things concerning life. It basically parallels much of what MarineGunrock has already said. He went on many foot patrols, set up check points in the middle of no where, and has had many close calls; among everything else that such an experience entails (which I'm sure would easily fill a book)...He has hunks of surprisingly heavy, gnarled & twisted as if it were soft taffy; razor-sharp shrapnel (as if shaved to an edge) as a memento to prove it. Scary stuff & an eye-opener for sure.

I believe videos like this should be able to exist to enrich understanding & show the reality as mentioned, maybe for those who don't have a friend, or relative, or online acquaintance who's actually experienced it or is willing to wax poetic about it. There are many documentaries out there but the news in general is horribly inadequate for showing reality. Plus you don't actually see the deceased as it's being shown from the distant, detached perspective of a surveillance camera.
