Rapping, deconstructed: The best rhymers of all time

shagen454 says...

Glad to see appreciation for MF Doom. The Sift has 0 appreciation for hip-hop, I have no idea of why, a little bit of racism, hatred for mainstream, too many dorks, too many burning man types? I don't know.

I mean you look at the hits for some of these artists and it's beyond hundreds of millions of hits if not a billion in some cases. Innovators like MF Doom, Dr. Octagon & Big L never got anywhere close to that sort of popularity.

The new Aesop Rock that came out this month is fucking awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZVlSqjjkic as well as the new Death Grips; open your minds.

Bill O'Reilly enters The No Chill Zone

Asmo says...

I was thinking much the same thing. I think he's hamming it up a bit to suit the show, but that was some pretty deep honest introspection there, along with an almighty well of angst.

I'm starting to get why people vote for Trump. To throw a radical in to the equation, for better or worse. It's a gamble, and it's likely going to turn out bad if he wins the presidency, but it's not like the establishment is going to magically reform itself...

And though it's his show and he's trying to run it, I though Colbert was actually ruining it a little bit. It became apparently pretty early in that Bill was talking from the heart for a change (rather than shooting from the hip), it might be worthwhile listening.

I dunno... as much as I dislike Bill O'Reilly, that showed a pretty encouraging amount of self-awareness and savvy comprehension of some of the root issues that are tearing the Republican party apart.

Or like having a stiff hip; not two prothesis. I wonder how long the battery pack for the actuators lasts? And I wonder if they have a regenerative cycle to charge the batteries and recover some of the energy from the motions each step?

From my perspective, I noticed his gate was odd but it was subtle enough that I put it down to him being slightly awkward or eager or something.

San Antonio ISD Officer Bodyslams 12 Year Old Girl

Mordhaus says...

He has extensive training, far more than your average officer, and the solution to a 12 year old 'resisting' is to hip slam her into the ground face first?

Maybe he should have just went Robocop on her, "Come quietly or there will be...trouble." Then he could have shot her when she didn't face plant herself.

Maybe a little excessive but the kid should have complied.

San Antonio ISD Officer Bodyslams 12 Year Old Girl

Mordhaus says...

Yeah, I hear you. The worst thing in this case is that sometimes you can chalk it up to the cop possibly being under trained in how to handle someone who is struggling, but here we have a military instructor/trainer for non-lethal force using a brutal slam on a 12 year old girl.

I mean, this guy has years of experience in how to do things right and has trained countless others during that time, but he couldn't find an easier way to take down a child? If anyone did that move, that wasn't a cop, they would be in jail so fast their head would spin and if it was their child it would be taken away from them. To use your example, if I saw a guy hip toss a 12 year old girl onto their face, I would have to do something to that guy. We refrain from doing it because they are police and can hurt us, or the legal system will, but a day is coming when the excrement is going to hit the impeller and someone is going to end up killing the cop or being killed over something like this.

This x100. I am scared I'm going to witness this someday and all the irritation and anger from seeing the innumerable examples of it online is going to come spilling out.

Yokay... I was just thinking about your call for upvotes and why I'm not going to upvote this. Which is fine, our tastes differ! I'm sure you haven't upvoted all my nerdy nerd hip hop music videos either.

Err...peanut galleries weren't meant for just blacks. They were the cheap seats, and peanuts were the least expensive snacks...

Yes, there WERE segregated theatres, but the term wasn't necessarily racial. It was more.. elitist? against the poor.

And Hip Hip Hooray is credited with being dated back to 19th century Britain.. and there's no actual factual proof that it was used during the German hep hep riots.

I just.. can we stop looking for places to find social justice? please? this is just getting silly. There's NOTHING to be offended about, get a better idea for a show and stop skimping on the research that proves your damn idea wrong.
