Foreigner Surprising Indians with Hindi (Smiles Galore)

noims says...

No matter where I go I always learn a few short phrases out of respect, and it pretty much always brings a smile.

The first and most important is 'thank you' and, while 'yes', 'no', 'excuse me', and 'hello' are good, the second phrase I always learn is how to ask for the bill (or the 'check', as I learned before going to the states). Pretty much anywhere you go you'll probably eat out, there's no response needed (beyond 'thank you'), and it doesn't hurt that it sometimes means the bill comes with a complementary drink.

Hi guys! What'd I miss? (Scifi Talk Post)

Irreversible: Rape scene (disturbing)

EuweChess says...

Hello, I'm ashamed to admit it but I have had jerk off many times with the rape scene, with that said, I once thought that maybe even the film's director is trying to put the blame on the woman's side, since from a wicked interpretation it's her fault to have changed the more quiet and polite guy for the sexually aggressive and still wanting to have him being down like the other guy and since she did not get that treatment she left the party and insisted to go without company even though her ex-boyfriend volunteered to accompany her, I'm not trying to justify that violence, rape is bad, no matter the background of the victim, men should not rape under any given circumstance

The pain must have been unbearable

YouTube's Rules Don't Apply to Everyone

ChaosEngine says...

Youtube are consistently inconsistent. As much as I admire some youtubers and think making short films would be a great way to make a living, I am so glad my income is not dependent on the increasingly arbitrary whims of google.

For example, Brady Haran of Numberphile made a video about "derangements", a concept in combinatorial mathematics. Fairly dry stuff unless you're a math geek. YouTube flagged the video and even when he submitted it for "manual review" it was still deemed inappropriate for advertisers.....

although the problem has apparently since been resolved. Nothing to do with Brady also having an immensely popular podcast where he complained about it, I'm sure. (For the record, Hello Internet is awesome!)
