Joker vs Joker (Jack Nicholson vs Heath Ledger)

Shepppard says...

Awww, come on now, We can't place one over the other.

Both jokers had their merits, Jack's version of the joker empasized the more pranksterish silly side of the joker, the entire point of having a clown commit crimes.

Whereas Heath ledgers version seems to be the darker, more twisted homicidal maniac joker (That truly is more.. well, true to form).

Personally, I do prefer the Heath ledger version already, because i'm more into the Darker version of the joker, but they both have their merits.

In comparison with his other works it seems to me that this is the first time heath ledger has changed his person completely which is extremely impressive. Apparently the man had trouble sleeping after reviewing and living the role so intensively. I find such dedication and realism lacking within most actors today, it really takes you back to the whole Stanislavski method of acting. Alas I digress, Heath Ledger's death is truly a tragedy, my heart goes out to his fans and family.

The only other person I think could have pulled this role off might have been Jim Carey, and I just wouldn't be able to take him seriously.

Especially as he's already played the Riddler in Batman Forever. Which reminds me of the Two-Face in that movie. Tommy Lee Jones! Whoa...

Anyways, seeing this...Heath Ledger...wow.

RIP.

I think it will be extremely difficult to find a better villain in any other movie for quite a while. The only other person I think could have pulled this role off might have been Jim Carey, and I just wouldn't be able to take him seriously. Heath Ledger really seems to have stepped up for this. It's too bad he couldn't be around to see the fans appreciation for this role.

Man..I'm incredibly excited about this movie now.

It'll be interesting to see what they're actually going to do with the joker..

to quote IGN:
""I see now what I have to become to stop men like him."

These are the words of Batman in the film's new trailer, and they are the key to the dynamic between the Dark Knight and his arch nemesis, the Joker. In fact, the original Batman film from Burton played up this theme as well (while also taking it far too literally and kind of screwing up both Batman and the Joker's origin stories in the process). The idea is that somehow neither character is fully complete without the other, that neither can exist if his foe is not in place, and that they need each other in order to live. What good, after all, is a Batman when there's no Joker around?

The Joker, though portrayed in the 1950s and '60s as a more harmless sort, is basically a homicidal maniac and a genius who has, depending on what comics continuity you're paying attention to, killed thousands of people (including women and children), a Robin, and crippled Batgirl.

Interestingly, Frank Miller's seminal The Dark Knight Returns has an aged Batman finally taking out the Joker for the better good, which raises the question of why the hero never did that earlier.

So one wonders how the Bat will deal with his enemy in this film, seeing as how villains are traditionally killed off in superhero movies. That, plus the death of actor Heath Ledger - who looks to be giving us the ultimate Joker portrayal in The Dark Knight - makes for an uncertain future for this cackling villain.

...

The point is you don't need to kill your bad guys every time out. Kill the Joker and Two-Face and you kind of render Batman useless. He's supposed to exist to fight guys like this, and besides, if you knock them out of the scene then you're suddenly resorting to second- and third-string villains in your next film."

i'm glad he's dead. fsck him in his cold, dead ear. and i own a few of my own guns, too. still, he's dead - good. i hope others as insane as him die as well, and soon. and i hope fire and feces are involved.

Ah, but we disagreed with that when some conservatives said the same thing about Heath Ledger.

^no what's bullshit is the amount of rain forest that has been cut down to provide soapboxes for this Charlton Heston suck-off. Many didn't give a damn about him until he died, then they wanted to jump on the same "mourning bandwagon" that Heath Ledger's death lead. And then comes the dickheads (like me) that always say "good riddance" or "I'm glad he's dead". Cue all of those that are looking for something to feel to grab a hold of their neighbor's member and beat each other off in some sick ritualistic lachrymal circle jerk and strike down those that accost their flavor of the week.

Many of you would prefer to insult an alive person behind their back than to crawl out of your superstition-proof armor and say what you'd like about the dead. Hell, even if it's got nothing to do with anything who cares? The more of this drivel I read, the more I really do dislike Charlton Heston and Ben Hur, specifically.

I'm absolutely fucking disgusted. Their excuse is that "Soldiers have been dying since March 2003" and "Everybody in this country knows that we're at war"? What the FUCK? The soldiers have been dying, thinking they were defending YOUR freedom, and all you have to say is "They've been dying" - like it doesn't fucking matter? They'd rather talk about someone that killed themselves ODing on drugs?
How do you fucking sleep at night? Then you cut half the frame to squeeze in a clip from a Ledger movie? And when it's all said and done, you break for a commercial by saying when you get back, you'll talk about his book and Heath Ledger some more?

Maybe you would care a little more about that war if it was people you knew that were dying in it. Maybe you would tell your government to stop the war if you were the ones fighting in it.

Fuck you, Fox news.
