Girl calls herself ugly and her Hairdresser cheers her up

smr says...

Anyone think that hairdresser inserted her own neuroses there? That poor innocent girl saw her hair sticking up everywhere and in every direction and made a comment on it. Then she was emotionally bowled over (double meaning here), which quickly upset amd confused her. I think we so often insert our own complex adult values in to the simple lives of children and ruin things. I love watching truly gifted young child educators talk to children about deep things, it's so open and honest. Versus this.

3 Men Help Elderly Couple Into Car in Touching Moment

StukaFox says...

How many people would stereotype these guys because of their pants and their hair and the color of their skin? How many people would look at them and use exactly the word you're thinking of? And how many of those people do you think would exhibit even the tiniest fraction of humanity, kindness and decency that these men showed?

I really hope this video changes someone's mind.

Hair Love

C-note says...

Beautiful video. Having a few younger sisters growing up I often braided and corn-rolled their hair to help out my mother. As I got older it was also a nice way to spend a few hours chatting up some of the girls in the neighborhood who knew I could braid and do hair.

Everything I have ever said was irreverent.
Most of it is relevant.
It's sad but telling that you don't know the difference.

The fact that there was never an investigation of Biden's son for Biden to stop is relevant.
The fact that the prosecutor was removed for not prosecuting corruption, not to stop him from investigating corruption is relevant.
The fact that Biden said that with full international, and bipartisan American support, publicly, is relevant.

Conversely, the fact that Trump did it secretly, bypassing the official channels and officials by using his private lawyer for secret foreign policy that only benefits him is relevant.
The fact he withheld funding for personal, not official reasons nor in the national interest is relevant.
The fact he repeatedly requested foreign help with a campaign ploy is relevant.
The fact his family has taken more foreign money than he delusionally claims Biden made (but somehow doesn't have) is relevant.

The fact that I'll tell you to your face you have your head up your ass so consistently that you don't have to dye your hair anymore is irreverent.

To paraphrase Biden

Biden said if you want the 1 billion then fire your guy, you got 6 hours.

All you said is irreverent.

Uma Thurman's Car Crash on set of "Kill Bill"

eric3579 says...

From NYT article https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/03/opinion/sunday/this-is-why-uma-thurman-is-angry.html?referer=https://t.co/3KI4YYryAt?amp=1

In the famous scene where she’s driving the blue convertible to kill Bill — the same one she put on Instagram on Thanksgiving — she was asked to do the driving herself.

But she had been led to believe by a teamster, she says, that the car, which had been reconfigured from a stick shift to an automatic, might not be working that well.

She says she insisted that she didn’t feel comfortable operating the car and would prefer a stunt person to do it. Producers say they do not recall her objecting.

“Quentin came in my trailer and didn’t like to hear no, like any director,” she says. “He was furious because I’d cost them a lot of time. But I was scared. He said: ‘I promise you the car is fine. It’s a straight piece of road.’” He persuaded her to do it, and instructed: “ ‘Hit 40 miles per hour or your hair won’t blow the right way and I’ll make you do it again.’ But that was a deathbox that I was in. The seat wasn’t screwed down properly. It was a sand road and it was not a straight road.” (Tarantino did not respond to requests for comment.)

Thurman then shows me the footage that she says has taken her 15 years to get. “Solving my own Nancy Drew mystery,” she says.

It’s from the point of view of a camera mounted to the back of the Karmann Ghia. It’s frightening to watch Thurman wrestle with the car, as it drifts off the road and smashes into a palm tree, her contorted torso heaving helplessly until crew members appear in the frame to pull her out of the wreckage. Tarantino leans in and Thurman flashes a relieved smile when she realizes that she can briefly stand.

Uma Thurman said she didn't want to drive this car. She said she had been warned that there were issues with it. She felt she had to do it anyway. It took her some 15 years to get footage of the crash. (Note: There is no audio.)
“The steering wheel was at my belly and my legs were jammed under me,” she says. “I felt this searing pain and thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m never going to walk again,’” she says. “When I came back from the hospital in a neck brace with my knees damaged and a large massive egg on my head and a concussion, I wanted to see the car and I was very upset. Quentin and I had an enormous fight, and I accused him of trying to kill me. And he was very angry at that, I guess understandably, because he didn’t feel he had tried to kill me.”

Even though their marriage was spiraling apart, Hawke immediately left the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky to fly to his wife’s side.

“I approached Quentin in very serious terms and told him that he had let Uma down as a director and as a friend,” he told me. He said he told Tarantino, “Hey, man, she is a great actress, not a stunt driver, and you know that.” Hawke added that the director “was very upset with himself and asked for my forgiveness.”

Two weeks after the crash, after trying to see the car and footage of the incident, she had her lawyer send a letter to Miramax, summarizing the event and reserving the right to sue.

Miramax offered to show her the footage if she signed a document “releasing them of any consequences of my future pain and suffering,” she says. She didn’t.

The Best Of Conan Guests

I love that last part for the added reason of how she complains (?) about Conan checking out her cleavage, then immediately flips back the one chunk of hair which was partially obstructing the view. Probably an unconscious action, but I found it funny.

@bobknight33

You support Trump, a guy who literally grins and gives a thumbs up for his photo op with a baby who's parents were likely murdered because of his own rhetoric. A guy who rambles on about absolute nonsense when he's not using a teleprompter. A guy who got recorded admitting he molests women. A guy who is so obsessed with his image that he takes drugs that make him impotent just so he can have a full head of hair. And the cast of characters supporting him is no better.

The difference between the left and the right now in America is on the left, the nuts are on the fringes, on the right, they're in Congress, in the White House, in the Senate. They're making policy.

Every house has a few nuts, most are smart enough not to put them in charge.
