This is a great story of parental acceptance, I guess I just don't understand what's wrong with staying a girl but identifying yourself as a girl who likes boy things.

Granted, that may be harder to accept, but shouldn't that truly be the overall message of acceptance? Accept who you are, love yourself, and if society doesn't like it, fuck society?

I guess explaining that to a 5 year old would be tricky, though.

I worked with a guy who wintered there years ago. Told me a story about how one of the bulldozers drove off the "road" (the hard pack ice) and sank about a metre into the snow. No-one could figure out what to do. It was too heavy to tow and they didn't have a crane that could lift it (would put too much pressure on the ice and then the crane would be stuck too. So they left it for a while, until everyone got sick of looking at it, and they just blew up the ice underneath it and let it sink.

I have no idea if that's true or not.

But it's a great story

This looks great. Great cast, great story, and it's highly possible this is adaptable.

The original film was superb. I doubt the series will be a disappointment.

Damn it, why can't Americans enjoy a great story without infantilizing it by adding magic and dragons?
As I understand it, the 47 Ronin is not a 'legend', it's a historical fact which needed no embellishment to be a GREAT story for a movie. It's like 300, but much worse. I had hoped the success of Lincoln might have taught Hollywood that at least attempting historical accuracy can be applauded if your subject is worthy, but it seems this lesson was lost.
And Keanu is apparently going to be Oishi, the leader of the ronin? Why not Ken Watanabe? I'm disappointed this is the treatment this great story gets from us, and I've been awaiting a good English telling of this story for decades.

Great story. Still one of my favorite movies of all time.

That's actually a really sweet scene. It shows how she cares for her brother and understood her husbands relationship with him...but also her desire for power and control. Is it just me, or does everyone else wish Game of Thrones was 2 hours long, and 20 episodes a season? I feel like I'm watching just the highlights of a great story, and it's just frustrating. I know I could read the books but I still can't help thinking they could do this show better.
