Arizona House Expels Republican Member

luxintenebris jokingly says...

just to give some perspective...on how today's GOP is...compared to how it was...

RE: Senate Robert Packwood's expulsion

"At one point, the Ethics Committee had to get full Senate approval to seek a court order to enforce a subpoena for a voluminous diary kept by Packwood during his time in the Senate...Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who is now the Senate majority leader, delivered a speech on the Senate floor in 1993, arguing for enforcement of the subpoena.

"Are we up to the job?," McConnell asked rhetorically, though it was an open question at the time. "Can we through the instrument of the Ethics Committee impartially and thoroughly investigate incidences of misconduct by our colleagues and will we give the committee the authority it needs to get the job done right?"

https://www.npr.org/2017/11/27/566096392/when-bob-packwood-was-nearly-expelled-from-the-senate-for-sexual-misconduct

but it seems worse today.

after seeing the evidence against NJ Sen. Bob Menendez, it seems that the U S Senate, in general, on being held to the highest standards - those standards aren't being held. or even attempted anymore.

Any wonder the Capitol, Congress, or SCOTUS is viewed contemptuously - not just for the obvious slandering politics - but for the glaring ethics violations?

Would have added the Presidency, but that's gone UP in recent years. 91 counts versus nil (which could be part of his campaign).

anyway...found M.C.'s speech smirk-inducing.

Arrest In Break-In At Democrat Hobbs' Campaign Headquarters

newtboy says...

Now, how about you address Ashley Babbitt, the dead traitorous cunt that destroys at least one position you hold sacred….either she and the MAGA insurrectionists were not innocent peaceful marchers calmly protesting like a normal day but were anti democracy violently murderous terrorists attacking police that showed god level restraint by only shooting her, or police shoot innocent non threatening people for no legitimate reason.

Which one do you want to finally admit is correct…because I think we both know they both are. It’s pretty chicken shit cowardly of you to continue to avoid the glaring reality by just not answering, and very telling about you that you simply cannot ever admit you are w-w-w-w-wrong.

God you are gullible.

Let's talk about altering the Supreme Court....

newtboy says...

That’s called politicizing the court, packing it with obviously hyper partisan activist (drunkard rapist) judges, then bringing otherwise completely invalid lawsuits so they can improperly rule in your favor based on political affiliation, not the law. Their cases had no chance in a fair or balanced court because they have no merit. That is a bastardization of how the law works, and a recipe for the end of the union.
(And your idea that the right doesn’t bring obviously losing cases to court is hilariously ignorant, for just one glaring example, look at the 62 election cases laughed out of court, tried as political theater, never having a snowball’s chance in hell of winning without complicit, partisan judges ruling solely based on who appointed them.)

WRT “the abortion issue” (and the nation destroying ploy to end run the courts rulings),remember, states claiming they can overrule federal law (specifically contradicted in the constitution btw) is EXACTLY what caused the civil war. It’s astonishing trying to overrule federal law with a state law isn’t a felony, it’s definitely unconstitutional.

Previous rulings have been overturned, but never before just ignored with the OK from the highest court. They just ruled themselves out of power, because if their ruling can be circumvented so easily or just ignored by states outright, they might as well close shop and go home….ending the USA.

Newsom is proving that by enacting the same measures against guns in California. If you think that will stop at ghost guns and assault rifles, or that other states won’t follow suit, you’re dumber than I give you credit for.

bobknight33 said:

The fact that cases are now before the court is because some conservatives feel there is a chance to have their cases win.

Why bring these case before the supreme court if you know you would have a high likely to loose. All the cost time and effort.

WRT to the abortion issue .If overturned it just means that the decision goes back to the states.

Overturning a previous opinions has occurred and will occur in the future .

Trump Can't Even Mouth The Pledge Of Allegiance

wtfcaniuse says...

Trump sings the national anthem,

Oh say can you see la la la gleaming...
Who's broad.. I knew a broad that would..
ramming ramparts la la la

The Rockets red GLARE! The Bombs bursting in air!
We have the best bombs, beautiful bombs, nobody knows more about bombs than me

La la la Flag was still there. It's the land of the free thanks to me!

Trump Plays Like A Child During National Anthem

newtboy says...

Not a big deal, just another glaring example of his unending hypocrisy when you recall the outrage he stoked over Kaepernick's infinitely more respectful protest. Since turnabout is fair play, he should be blackballed from any political job for life.

Why are they making a big deal of this?

It's the exact same as, "Donald Trump was awake during _______ ceremony."

Anatomy of a Scene -- A Quiet Place

mentality says...

I didn't really like the movie. Certain parts of it was well done, but there are some glaring issues that ruined my suspension of disbelief.

For example, early in the movie we got a shot of John's character's workshop, and there's this whiteboard with the most basic information about the monsters written on it in large bold letters. Your character has masterfully survived for over a year under constant threat from these monsters, and you have to write down that the creatures are blind? Who is this even for other than the audience? It's such a lazy way of conveying information and disrepectful of your viewer's intelligence.

Also, the ending was pretty ridiculous.

*spoiler warning*

The fact that these monsters are susceptible to small firearms (even if they have ARMOR as the whiteboard reminds us) makes the premise that they overran all the world's militaries in a few months pretty unbelievable.

Not that I saw, but I didn't watch it all.
The glaring issue to me was, when asked 'You found out in 2015 about this data breach, when did you notify your customers?'
he answered with 'When we found out, we removed the apps and asked the thieving companies to delete the data, and took their word that they did...which was a mistake.', never addressing the question because they still haven't notified all the customers whose data was taken by this one breach and never would have if it hadn't been discovered by investigators and made public, and make no mistake it's far from the only breach.
To me, it's outrageous that he's pretending that keeping your data private is a goal, it's not. They exist by selling your data. Nothing's free, and things that claim to be free usually cost far more than you would voluntarily pay.

Were there stupid questions liked that asked? Those clips i'd love to see. Politicians not having a clue is always pretty funny and sad at the same time.

"Batman Ninja" trailer (English language)

newtboy says...

Says you. ;-)
I've always been entertained by kaiju movies (until sci-fi channel got involved), in large part because of the terrible dialog and dubbing, but also the dead pan seriousness. When they have tried to be silly, like Godzilla Jr, it always fell flat for me.
As for kung fu, I feel that the bad dialogue adds a needed comedy element often otherwise missing. I thought Kung Pow was hilarious and inventive because of intentionally terrible dubbing.

I do agree, this bastardization has some glaring issues...that doesn't mean it can't still be fun.

jmd said:

But that is because the movie is so bad to begin with. I hate dubs with a passion because most often the voice does not match the actor like originally intended by the director. Also in the case of japan animations, voice acting is a highly competitive career market over there which means there are many top tier actors to choose from. Liscensed dubs on the other hand deal with a lot of frequently contracted actors in a market that isn't bursting with talent.

Also the plot of this animation seems pretty ridiculous. I would have let the batman and joker pass but when everyone else in the batman universe, even the god damn butler, showes up I was like

Keanu Reeves Tactical 3 gun shooting

newtboy says...

Compared to the myriad of 'guns 'n babes'-'guns and lace'-'guns and bikinis' companies, they seemed like school marms to me with one glaring exception, the lingerie angle, that was out of place and odd.

Now... all that said: I think you're almost certainly right about THIS company. Their instagram is pretty damning in that respect.
