I LOVE that you remember the things that I remember.

I recently shared this video with some people in their 20s and their blank stares and "wtf is this" responses made me so sad. (I also shared with them the "Fish Heads" music video from the 80s.)

In addition to this bit and so many others, the Mad Dog Hoek episode is one I remember frequently. I wonder if you remember that as well.

Both this song and fish heads have been burned into my brain from my years of listening to Dr Demento as a kid. This one was by far my favorite song from his show.

Just goes to show you how resourceful we are. And when removed from the knowledge of what parts are being used, we decidedly enjoy the foods created with these "spare" ingredients. Bone marrow? EXTREMELY good for you. Chicken skin? Not only tasty, but a moderate amount has the fats your body needs. What's this guy's deal? He's just teaching these kids to be discriminatory food snobs.

My girlfriend eats fish eyes and fish heads. When the zombie apocalypse comes, I'm bunking with her.

I think you could say that it IS dead, all higher brain functions are gone and this is just reflex action. What's happening with the fish head IS interesting, it's fascinating what can keep going for a long time after 'death'. I used to fish for trout in a friend's pool (they'd put trout in there during the cold months, let the grow and then fish for them before next summer)... after killing one we took the heart out and put it in a glass of water. It kept beating for a very long time, at least 15 minutes or so if I remember correctly. And if it stopped, you'd prod it and it'd start up again. Fascinating. So I'm not adverse to being intrigued by such things.

BUT, there was dignity in the killing of the fish, and just awe at how the heart kept going.

This sort of sick laughing at the head of an animal moving after death is disgusting and speaks to a lack of respect for living things which I hate. I think that if I heard 'awwww' or 'oooh', or 'wow' or the like I'd be much more inclined to upvote.

YES we kill things and eat them, but it can be done without being like this.

Hahaha city folk are amusing. What if they ate the other half and are just being bemused by a reflex action of a tragically ugly fish? Cutting a chickens head of sometimes results in it running around until it dies. It is dark, but amusing. It isn't what you behead a chicken for, but it is something that happens, and doesn't make it any less funny.

Hmm, a decapitated fish head which has been stabbed in the head through the eye, and they are playing with it? Seems harsh and disrespectful to me.

Korean women are are built like that without much variation to the lard-ass end of the spectrum...small titties, low-slung hips and sturdy stems, hour-glass in the middle....uhhhh, eat well, know how to make fish heads taste good, can sew, giggle a lot....we could go to a hundred on this list without even stopping to think! I'm not a fan of veggies. When my girlfriend makes it and forces me to eat it I just end up stuffing most of it in my mouth and chewing real fast to get it out of the way. Then I only have things to look forward to. Being that she's filipina we eat a ton of rice too...rice with everything. I refuse to eat fish heads though.

It's really telling that the captive in the first story thought he was going to be executed. If the poor guy got his news of the West from the New York Slimes I wouldn't blame him.
Regardless of how much the ACLU whines to the contrary, Gitmo detainees are not prisoners of war nor enemy combatants fighting under any nation's flag, so American and International rights don't apply to them.
