Tea Party is the American Taliban
"EDITOR’S NOTE: While they have way too much in common, the actual Taliban uses political violence to achieve its ends and the Tea Party doesn’t — and that’s an important distinction." --moveon.org
Julian Assange Hit Piece In New York Times
>> ^thumpa28:
Crap news about a crap person then. Hardly promotion worthy.
This is actually very much noteworthy. Even if you ignore the person they are reporting about it used to be pretty much common code that if you were to rip on other entities in the "news and journalism"-buisness, you'd do it in an editorial or sth titled oppinion piece- as a writer/editor you'd want to keep a door open in case of, you know, having to look for stories on the other side of the political spectrum.
This, in journalism circles equals to the NYT publicly stating to any other potential sources: "We will not accept your stories unless they are greenlighted or/and will potentially help backstab you if you come to us with yet unpublished information".
Good luck recovering from that, NYT

Seriously? I mean... really? were upvoting for a sound effect that has been in effect since the beginning of time itself.. and has been on the most basic and oldest of sound editors.. all recorded on some dudes awesome cell phone mic...
I wheep for you guys..
The reverb of your basic sound editor is cheap tinny crap. Good reverb is computationally expensive and hard to get right. We've been getting there in the past years, but still great to have the real stuff.
I agree with the mic though - 1080p video but shitty compressed mono sound in a video that's _about_ sound...*sigh*
Oh and I'm a bit confused about your last sentence...referencing urbandictionary, are you farting underwater or are you going to piss in my sink?
Things That Will Make You Feel Old
The images speed by too damn quickly, I hate that shit. When will video noobs learn that one of the fundamental things to remember in video editing is that even though the editor has seen the footage/text/pictures dozens of times the audience has not. So the editor noob is overfamiliar with the content and is then mainly concerned with the sequencing, rather than the pacing. Drives me nuts.

StudioADI Starship Troopers Animatronic Effects

Why not just use CGI? It's fast, more cost effective, and looks like pure-fucking-garbage. Win/Win!
Not really. CGI is not faster, it's a lot more expensive and the have you seen Prometheus? Modern CGI is reaching the stage of actually looking like it fits the scene and not completely out of place. Animatronics has limitations, and bad anmiatronics and suits can look just as bad as bad CGI. In the end, both require talented artists, directors and editors
Commodore 64 turns 30: What do today's kids make of it?
>> ^oritteropo:
Interesting. My first c64 wasn't a rev 1 ROM, so it didn't have this bug (did any PAL c64's?).
A bit of googling suggests that if you has pressed play on your datasette, and then stopped it, you could have recovered! If only we'd had the internet in 1982!!!

There was a bug in the C64 where if you typed and filled the very bottom line of the screen with text and then kept typing which overflowed to the next line, (which would make the screen text all flow up one line to make room) and THEN you backspaced back onto the last line, it would lock the machine up cold. I lost code to this bug enough times that it eventually became set in the brain at a very low level to avoid this.
To THIS day when working in the bottom line of a text editor, notepad, etc whatever, if I am typing and flowing into new lines in the bottom, my brain raises red flags if I am backspacing.
That was cool (bottom trivia question) !!!!

Yah dailymotion is pretty good, vimeo is good too but I think they check a little bit more than dailymotion.>> ^alien_concept:

I'm going to enjoy it on 2 levels, first sift and new Louis Theroux!! I've seen basically all of his work. Let me know if you need any help. I'm actually a video editor so I could mirror the image or something like that. I know people use some tricks to not get detected.>> ^alien_concept:
This may take a while! It's taking about 3 hours to upload to YT, and I've got a feeling the bastards may block it once it's done, which means I will have to upload it to another host site... rest assured I'll get it to you somehow. You're so going to enjoy it
Worst come to the worst you know it's there and you can download it at least to watch. Pretty sure if I upload it to Vimeo or Dailymotion it will be ok though

Meet the Pyro - Team Fortress 2
So many levels of pure awesome:
* Direction: Really nice, feature film quality
* Animation: Again, feature film quality there, beautifully done
* That it's done with a game engine: Just amazing
* That it's done with a fricken in engine movie editing suite...
* They're giving it away for free
That's just brilliant work on their part, and is only going to increase interest in Source powered games, which is good for them.
And good for Steam because that's how you get the editor.
Nice work Valve, nice work.
What Was That Black Goo? (Prometheus)
Yep, it did a good job of looking cool and keeping things moving along, but the editors and writers of this one should take a class or two on how to write a story.
Unreal Engine 4 - Development Walkthrough
Undoubtedly a massive technical achievement, especially the fact that it's running in the editor.
That said, it still has the same unreal engine look where everything looks like it's made of wet modelling clay. I dunno if that's a deliberate aesthetic or something buried deep in the renderer, but I'm kinda sick of it and I really wish they'd fix it.
