Music is hard to do on the sift, it almost always gets between 10 to 20 votes, very rarely anything above that.

The best way I found is to post something totally eclectic or totally nostalgic, good video content always helps expecially of the drug kind.

All those video posts I have, about 60% are music videos.

I'm against the "most votes given" category, because anyone could go through the entire Sift catalog and vote like a madman (or madwoman). Don't think that someone wouldn't do that either. I'm also against highest or lowest comment up vote and down vote categories, because comment voting is done anonymously and I think a lot of people would like it to remain that way.

- Most eclectic sifter (one who's posted the greatest variety of videos)

I realize that some of these may be hard to do, but I throw them out there any way for the plebiscite to approve or reject.

Someone else said he was far-left, it wasn't me. While his positions may be eclectic you'd really have to do some contorting to make the case that he's a liberal. It's key to remember how the liberal worldview is uniquely situated to power; Chomsky is hardly an apologist for power.

The issue you bring up has been discussed in private and in public. Why do we as a community vote up daily show clips ad nauseum, and yet fail to recognize some truly artful works? It's the nature of a large and growing community - those vids which appeal to the largest audience will invariably hit the top 15, and those which are perhaps more esoteric do not. The best we can do is keep saving and promoting those things which we believe are truly great. To be honest, I didn't think the 'I AM' vid was all that great (actually, I thought it sucked balls), even though it's underlying message was interesting.

Please keep contributing eclectic vids and insightful comments. They are noticed and appreciated.

lot's of people don't get these guys, I can't understand why. it's like they got a little bit of every style of music ever and weaved it into something new. check out Fred Deakin's The Triptych (4 hour mix cd) if you get the chance. super eclectic.
