Computer color is broken
You would be surprised at how many people get this wrong. I'm actually amazed this video even exists. I preach about this all the time to deaf ears.
Sign-Language Interpreter Steals The Show
great performance, but I have to ask - how many deaf people are watching a music contest show like Eurovision ?
Red Neck trucker says NO to this blonde trying to merge...
wow,this video is getting way more comments than expected.
some are saying the semi sped up.
i do not see any evidence of this.if this trucker shifted and hit the gas..you would know it,i am partially deaf and i would know it.
i do,however,see conditions further up that precipitate the lane slowing down,which of course will give the illusion the trucker is speeding up.
i am not that interested in the legalese as some of you are,considering that lawful right or wrong are meaningless when people can die.
i am far more concerned with safety.
maybe if the trucker was not on the phone he would have noticed captain retard inching in and could have responded appropriately i.e:downshift..let off the gas.(NOT jam the brakes,unless you want a scene from the A-team).
conclusion=fail
maybe if speedy gonzales didn't treat a 40 ton big rig as a normal 2 ton car that had the ability to defy the laws of physics and just assumed that he/she would be let in by mr nice rig master,maybe they would not have 5k worth of body work on their car.
conclusion=fail
this could have gone so much worse than it did,and for that i am glad.
it still bothers me how some drivers deal with semi big-rigs.they truly are clueless and endanger not only themselves but everybody on the highway around them by their impatient and selfish driving.
Fascinating autism test for "theory of the mind" in children
Apparently people without the right vocabulary fail this test too. Here's a Radiolab about a deaf community that developed its own sign language and how they fared on the test as the language developed. I found it pretty interesting when I first heard it.

Megyn Kelly on Fox: "Some things do require Big Brother"
The first link is about China. Do they use the same vaccination schedule as we do? Do they use the same vaccine? How good is their record-keeping? Were there 1000 randomly sampled people from all over China, or from one specific place in the province?
They furthermore only mention that that one province has the mandatory vaccinations. Do the others? Are there a lot of unvaccinated people coming through the area that could disrupt the herd immunity effect? Like, say, a few tens of unvaccinated people at Disney?
The second link is someone trying to sell a DVD. There is absolutely no information there, just claims that have been refuted to the end of the universe and back. And some fearmongery correlation/causation conflation. Did you know that the Internet was getting built up at the same time as the skyrocketing Autism rate? I bet the Internet causes autism.
Third link: It is entirely believable that RIGHT NOW the measles vaccine causes more complications than the measles does. Because there are only a couple hundred cases of the measles in the US per year. It is all but eradicated, because of the vaccine, which means that it kills very few people.
If you go back before the vaccine, though, around 500,000 people had the measles a year (and this is probably a low guess, per the link). Around 20% of those had to be hospitalized. About four times more people died from it than now have fatal complications due to the vaccine.
No vaccine: (Possibly much) more than 500,000 people sick. 100,000 people hospitalized. 1,000-10,000 brain damaged. A few hundred dead (not a super fatal disease). Thousands more get liver damage, hearing damage, eye damage, other complications.
Vaccine: Assuming we're at a 90% vaccination rate, around 3,500,000 kids vaccinated a year. ~100 dead, per your link. 1000 with dangerously high fever. Deafness/seizure/brain-damage: So rare that a link to the vaccine can not be established. Autism: Completely fabricated and discredited.
This has a good chart comparing the relative danger, for equal numbers infected/vaccinated. If we stopped vaccinating, it would not take long to get back to where dealing with the measles was a dangerous rite of passage for almost every kid.

Concealed Weapon in Florida? Okay unless black...
I got to see what eric wrote before he redacted it.
It was great. Kind. Accurate. Good hearted.
And yes, it would have fallen on deaf ears, my friend. You were right to redact.
I just want other folks to know that it wasn't mean-spirited or ugly, what you said.

I forgot who i was talking to.
The Daily Show - Anne Hathaway (Jan 21 2015)
@Stormsinger
@moonsammy
I think it was just the hilariously dry, tone-deaf delivery.
Need More Proof That The Music Industry Is Fake? Here You Go
Also, to be fair, when someone doesn't have a loop back of their voice, and there's tons of sound so they can't hear themselves directly, it's like a deaf person singing. Britney IS singing. This would not be accurately described as lip-sync as in the Milli Vanilli crap. This is definitely "overdubbing" with the second track being edited out. Also, as she knows her voice isn't actually being amplified, she's not really trying. This isn't an Autotuned performance either.
What really blew my mind was finding out Lil' John can actually sing. Sing REALLY well actually. He uses Autotune as an art device, bizzarely.
Whaaaaaaaat? You mean that Britney wasn't singing live while jumping around the stage under hot lights for an hour and a bit without being able to hear your voice at all?
Cenk Uygur debates Sam Harris
Sam Harris is sharp as ever. Cenk loses damn near every point. I can genuinely not see how anyone can think Cenk "won" this debate.
@enoch I must say that I'm disappointed if that's what you're walking away with from this clip. Cenk seems to misunderstand most of what Harris is trying to say, and when he explains further Cenk brushes it off and changes the subject in, to use the wording from the video, a scatter shot way. Grabbing parallels or examples from seemingly random and unrelated ways. It feels like Harris is fighting an uphill battle which is tiring him, so there's a lot of repetitions to try and hammer the points home. Sadly they seem to fall on deaf ears.
I don't see any arrogance in the video, granted I'm missing the last 30 minutes or so.
Last Week Tonight - Ferguson and Police Militarization
Still angry about that small sample size eh? still haven't looked up anecdotal either I see.

That's a very poor definition of thug, as that actually describes life in general.
traditions are ALWAYS challenged and eventually put down, convention is ALWAYS challenged and put down, Laws are always challenged and changed. Social responsibility is an ever changing term
30 years as a cop means nothing, it's just a pathetic appeal to authority fallacy, and you just being insecure...again, about a great many things, which prompts you to play your tired Internet Tough Guy routine. The 90s called, they want their early internet "debate" tactics back.
as a former cop (gee, wonder why you aren't anymore) you should know that you are answerable to the taxpayers...That means I'm your boss dipshit. not the other way around, your former coworkers would do well to remember that.
you push us? we push back.
funny, I don't see the thug term being applied to any white criminals. just the black ones.
Anarchist? are you deaf blind and dumb? (oops, my bad, of course you are)
choggie and blankfist are/were the resident anarchists. Both were banned and my comment history shows me arguing with them constantly. You don't like to read though do you..
You just aren't very good at this are you.
Wrong again, brainiac. Thug is a word that describes living the 'thug life', you know...disregard for tradition, convention, laws, social responsibility.
A thug is a criminal, someone who commits a shoplifting by force, a felony in most jurisdictions.
naturally, you being an anarchist... the cops are always wrong.
Last Week Tonight - Ferguson and Police Militarization
The apparent unnecessary death of an individual, regardless of whether he was innocent or had committed a crime at some point prior is obviously wrong. The story however, should be about the larger issue:
1) Lack of police trust, presumption of culpability rather than belief that it was an accident.
2) Racially non-representative nature of the police force in the city relative to the populace that it is tasked with protecting.
3) Tone deafness of the city leadership in response to what is a public outcry, instead focussing on the criminal riot element that choose to take advantage of it.
4) Overt militarisation of the police force and overt use of military hardware in the face of largely peaceful protests.
Like every other case like this, the most likely outcome is the individual story will get disputed but the larger issues will be ignored. In fact, if anything, the riot will give credibility to the camp that wants to militarise the police.
A Cool New Restaurant Staffed With Only Deaf Waiters
I think this is AWESOME.
It really gives hearing people the chance to see what the world is like for deaf people, instead of having the "fish bowl" experience. It's great... and I think a lot of narrow minded people can get a chance to have their perspective changed and, hopefully, enlightened.
Inspirational Crazy Talk - Matthew Silver Performance Art
@TheFreak: I see what you're saying and I don't ostracize you (as much as you'd LOVE IT), but isn't it the tendency of the intellect to take moments of existence and dramatically augment them? Like a daydream memory only in your head.
BEGIN DRAMATIC MUSIC
The simple form of filming and interviewing this man is as overly dramatic as the scoring, if it were not skipped over by our technocratic brains. I say "our" because were it not for my obsessive hindsight into the comments of others, I'd have ignored these details, as well.
Perhaps the music stands out as more farcical because WE have fallen into the dead zone of normalized behaviors, memetic response; ignoring the obvious fact that a living man in a time now gone, was recorded on camera for all of the world to see and hear and gawk at.
All forms of tampering with that moment in time, including the recording of it -- which he advocated against in the form of "live in the moment" and "LOVE NOW" -- are merely augmentations of the majesty of biological existence; human reality. To be removed of context or placed into whatever context an intellect perceives as worthy.
And then to "CREATE" as is now manifest in our minds as any range of dramatic or mundane; having now been sifted for us to discern or merely to enjoy in passing. We can choose to enjoy fleetingly or dwell on with intellectual criticism, as much as we can ignore it.
Were I deaf, I'd have no understanding, but I'd still see this wild man.
END DRAMATIC MUSIC
