I watched this just last weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. I had never heard of it before, but I would put it in league with "Donnie Darko" as far as the "makes you think" factor goes.

Did anybody else cry at the end?

I don't know why, but it really got to me.

The enjoyment of film is all about expectations. I can see how dissapointed you'd be if you went into this film expecting a meaningful, coherent follow up to Donnie Darko. Here's how I'd sell this film: It's confusing and doesn't really add up to anything meaningful in the end, but it succeeds at being a trippy, bizarre and frequently funny film you can stream on Netflix some night when you are in the mood for weirdness, psychedelic visuals and SNL fetishism.

How can anyone not "get it"? I mean, it's right there on the marquee when they walk (ride?) past the theater - "The Last Temptation of Christ". Can't get much more obvious than that.
