Bill O'Reilly is Stupid

VoodooV says...

this is the sour grapes portion of the election folks. we're going to hear more crackpot theories like this and other "theories" on how Obama stole the election

people like BillO (not BillO himself because he's just playing a role like Colbert) are going to continue to grump and whine as the nation moves more and more blue.

Unless the parties fundamentally change, the nation is going to keep going to the left more and more because they want equality for gays, they want equality for women (Republicans lost this election as soon as this became an issue again..WTF reps?) People are sick of beating war drums and they want health care reform.

Red stronghold states will eventually be whittled away until even Texas and the Bible belt go blue. the population of the cities (which tend to lean left) will outstrip the right leaning rural areas.

2016 will be the election to watch. Will Republicans not learn anything and continue driving hard right or will they actually figure out how to take the party back from the nutbags and kick the tea party and the christian fundamentalists to the curb

She has a rash on her pussy!

Jeep Grand Cherokee Moose Test - The Full Story

MilkmanDan says...

>> ^jimnms:

...Jeep removed weight not added. They worded it strange, but read it again, it says "Jeep-Chrysler loaded the car with 470 kilos (1 036 lbs), 132 kilos (291 lbs) under the official maximum payload." The previous tests were performed at the maximum official payload the car can carry.
It looks like Jeep could fix it with a suspension upgrade. The Jeep compared to the other two vehicles rolls farther into the turn and bounces where the other two roll into the turn without the bounce.

I was quite confident that you were wrong ...and then I actually read the documentation from the link in the description. It does seem that the initial tests were performed with the vehicle at maximum payload and then they (Jeep engineers or the testing company? both?) removed weight (100kg) for followup tests. So, thanks for setting me straight! In particular, it makes me more impressed with the other vehicles that apparently can handle the increased stress on the tires even at full payload.

That being said, some of this just doesn't seem to add up to me. It seems that after they subtracted weight, they blew the tire in a great majority of the tests (7 in 10?). That kind of failure rate, at or even below the "maximum payload" suggests that the official load ratings are screwed up. The information from the testing team says that there was some discrepancy between Jeep's listed curb weight and the actual curb weight of their test vehicle, and other weird stuff. Suffice it to say that I'm much more confused about their test procedure, the actual sequence of events, and why they were hoping to improve the results from the first (?) test by removing weight.

Interesting comments thread here all around.

see if you can eradicate Fear and Greed, too, while we are aiming for the sky. Misguided to think picking the lowest fruit to DDoS/etc (internet distribution) will ever do anything to curb mentally ill people who live in "reality" and actually make this stuff.
Far better to go after the corporations that rape us all, and keep people poor so that they have no resources to prevent or report child abuse.
But, yea.

Man Changes Bike Tire in Less Than a Minute

messenger says...

The rules for this should have required at least a token check of the inner surface of the tire. Unless you know you got snakebit (puncture caused by hitting a curb with underinflated tires), changing a flat without inspecting the inner surface is a waste of time and tubes.

There should also be a patch kit time trial. I can do it in under 10 mins in real conditions, and I'm sure others can do it in under 5.>> ^Tojja:

- 30 seconds spent identifying/removing source of puncture (glass/wire/thorn) saves many minutes of rework when you get another puncture a minute later from the bastard wire strand you didnt look hard enough for

Guy Thrown From Moving Car & Walks Away - (No.2)

Looks like his head hit the curb. Walking away means he lived, but it doesn't mean he'll be okay. I had a buddy get hit in the head with a softball that bounced off his glove. He got up, said he was fine, and went on...then his brain swelled from the bruising on both sides. It took years to recover, but some of the damage is permanent.
Yes, walking away is wonderful. It means you lived. But it doesn't mean you're alright. Wear your fucking seatbelt.

Sorry to hear about your friend, hope he's coping ok.

Jeez what's that do to the confidence of the pilot if the computer is calling him a retard right before touchdown. I had an ex-girlfriend like that, but she called me that when I was parallel parking, same thing. Retard! Retard! you hit the curb again.>> ^CrushBug:
