Guy rescues cat with head stuck in a can

00Scud00 says...

From personal experience I can assure you that even the simplest tasks can be made near impossible by adding at least one squirming and upset critter. If I hadn't learned to apply Ferrettone to my ferret's tummy, clipping his nails would have been an exercise in futility.

What the hell, was that can made from Wolverine's bones? Why did it take him so long to cut it and peel it open. Lady hands!

Cute Possum Invades Kitchen To Eat Bread

Stormsinger says...

Nah, the possums here are cute enough...huge gray rats with skull makeup on their faces (think KISS rats).

This guy's a bit cuter, but being an Aussie critter, we know he's armed with either deadly poison or six inch claws and wants to eat your face when you're not looking.

Blasting a mountain top to build world's 'biggest' telescope

newtboy says...

I think it normally depends on the mountain. As I see it, most people have an issue with destroying mountains for things like mining because 1) they disagree with the reasoning for it, 2)it's in places where people can see the damage, and more importantly 3) those 'mountains' are often much lower altitude and are decent habitats for critters with significant water runoff that's contaminated by 'mountain top removal'. When you're talking 9-10K feet up, beyond the tree line, there's far less habitat being destroyed (granted, something likely lives there that's now dead or displaced). That means it's not 0 damage done, but far less damage to what most people consider important. Very few people care about damaging the rock itself, mostly Shinto and Buddhists I would guess. Personally I find this a good trade off of damage vs possible gain, but of course I don't live there.
I'm wondering how this is better than the VLTA http://www.eso.org/public/teles-instr/vlt/
I expected there to be no more giant telescopes made now that they know how to combine smaller ones to simulate large ones. I wonder why they went this way on this project?

Wouldn't we normally be against blowing up mountain tops?

I can't deny that I too am OK with this as it furthers our understanding of the universe by building this. I just can't help but to feel hypocritical.

Watch some cute gerbils.

Moontwister says...

That's fabulous. We bought three wonderful female gerbils last November. They were about 8 weeks old. We only wanted two, but there were three in the cage at the pet shop and I told my husband that it would be cruel to leave one behind. They are delightful little critters. I grew up with pet rats, and domestic rats are somewhat more personable, well, a lot. But, we were given an unused Habitrail system that would have been too small for rats. So, Gerbils! (Sorry, in my experience (I worked in a pet store for a while) hamsters are solitary, territorial and tend to bite.) I was immediately impressed by how naturally friendly they are. In the gerbil manual we bought with them, it talked about taming them. These little girls were like, "Hey, who are you? Can I climb on you?"

Playing with Baby Wombats

Darn it, I was sure the longer one had the spider (or whatever the little black bug is that kills the snake).

When I saw the original on liveleak it was a few seconds longer and titled something like spider kills snake... and I couldn't find the original when I went looking

In the dubstep version you only get a very brief view of the little black critter scuttling off to exit stage left, but he's more obvious in the longer ones.

Machete Kills Again...in SPACE!

mindbrain says...

Tsk. They're jumping the gun a bit. Should have waited for part 4 to go to space like Critters, Hellraiser, and Leprechaun. Jason was fashionably late. You don't wanna be early to the space jam!

And how did they resist not having the announcer scream,
"INNNNNNN SPAAAAACE!?" Instead we get a very sensual read there at the end. Still, ya gotta give RR props for being prolific with a devil-may-care attitude.
