The Shocking Move to Criminalize Nonviolent Protest

DOOM 4-gameplay-singleplayer-co-op and multiplayer-E3 2015

xxovercastxx says...

My favorite memory of Doom wasn't being swarmed by enemies, but creeping through bases, hearing demons in the distance but not knowing where they were. I hope we get some of that atmosphere in the new Doom.

It seems fitting that id would return to save the genre from Call of Duty after all these years. It's also a little surprising to see such a strong return to form now that everyone but Kevin Cloud has left the company.

El Niño Erosion Leaves Pacifica Apartments On The Brink

SDGundamX says...

Ah, Pacifica. I used to work in the area and would head there on my lunch break. Grab a sandwich from the deli at Safeway and sit on the beach watching the waves roll in while I ate. Water is cold as fuck though. I made the mistake of paddling out without a wetsuit one summer during a heatwave and got hypothermia even though the air temp was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

They've always had problems with erosion there, so this is kinda unsurprising to me. There's really nothing they can do. In the video you can see PCH (Highway 1, the Pacific Coast Highway) and I wonder how many years it'll be before the erosion is creeping up to that point. I know that just south of Pacifica they've had to close PCH a couple of times to shore up the road because it was in danger of collapsing, and during rain storms it sometimes gets closed due to landslides from the hills next to it.

pundits refuse to call oregon militia terrorists

So...the feds holding property they've held at least since 1907 as a wildlife refuge, or surroundings they've purchased since then, and leasing it to people like these at ridiculously low prices is 'creeping into our lives' and 'overgrowth of government'?
Um...yeah...how does that work?
These people committed arson on federal land DURING A WILDFIRE and were found guilty, and are sentenced under federal MINIMUM guidelines, not given the max, and these Bundy people are finding that an overreach of government...how?
The cognitive dissonance in their last statement would be hilarious if it wasn't an actual mindset so many people AGREE with when talking about white groups, but scoff at as self serving drivel when applied to black groups.
THESE people think the law is rigged against them? What should the Black Lives Matter people think when it's PROVEN the law is rigged against them, and it's their LIFE at stake, not their right to do whatever they want on other people's property, including arson, without consequence.
And can you imagine the terrified outrage on Fox if a group of armed BLM (Black Lives Matter) people took over a BLM (Bureau of Land Management) office, like these nutjobs did? Now consider the ridicule if they did it to 'protest' the mandatory sentencing of a convicted arsonist....who's black.

Oh...interesting to find out this as well....
-Many of the tactics and talking points being used were popularized in the 1970s by the white supremacist group Posse Comitatus. This group promoted the “Christian Patriot” movement, advocated the formation of “Citizens Militias,” helped forge an idiosyncratic reading of the Constitution, said the county sheriff was the highest elected official that should be obeyed, and opposed federal environmental restrictions.

thanks man.
that rabbit hole goes much further.with the mention of dee and kelly who are responsible for the enochian (or angelic) alphabet, and also enochian magicks.which leads to crowley and the thoth tarot deck.

there can be some correlation between lovecrafts "old ones" and angels.we are not talking the cherub, fairy godmother type angels of childrens stories, but angels who are messengers of god, where gabriel is mentioned as being the size of a solar system an to gaze upon his actual countenance would render the observer mad.

none of that warm and fuzzy from fairy tales but horrors.

i loved studying those esoteric books but they always creeped me out, probably why i love lovecraft.

There is no brutality against police in the United States. We ended that back in the 60's.
There. Now I've solved all the problems for the police, these subhuman creeps better stop whining. There are no valid arguments.

Star Citizen Bishop Speech to the Senate citizencon

shagen454 says...

This game is so painful. I really hope the SC team stops listening to the hate, I hope they can maintain their teams, maintain focus, creativity, I hope they have enough money to last another 5 years of development, I hope this game turns out great. I really hope this turns out to be better than Elite a game that I found unfortunately boring. Will revisit once Occulus comes out, smoke a fat one and go on a cosmic voyage.

SC was/is one centered around PC gaming and dreams - I spent $40.00 on this game, which isn't much in my opinion in order to help a dream, a dream that I also want to delve into. My hope is not diminished yet and I do not care about delving into the rumors, anger and frustration. It is just a motherfucking video game. One that we all hope will be unbelievably good...

Realistically, these guys have probably promised too much, hopefully all the different modules add up to something cohesive - even if they have to detract from open world shit. I don't mind if they scale back to focus on story & content as long as the crafts feel solid. The alpha the control of the ships suck ass. Hopefully, both the controls and FPS mode are tight. If they can't pull off a huge scale, open-world game... no worries, I think working it to something more linear if the game mechanics are fun. Open-world games have been shit mostly anyways, Witcher 3 is a masterpiece though.

Derek Smart is an OCD creep he can go fuck himself and his games are shit! I mean kudos to him for having a lot of talent to do it himself and get shit released even if the content sucks.

Ask a Mortician - Is Embalming Dangerous?

gorillaman says...

Well as David Mitchell says, I believe on death the body should revert to the state. To have its organs harvested, be turned into animal feed, whatever's most practical.

When I see a funeral procession go by I can't help feeling that I've witnessed some creepingly bizarre, atavistic rite. And the resources these superstitious, corpse-fondling indulgences consume! It's enormously and criminally wasteful.

The Flirting Fallacy

PlayhousePals says...

Egads @TheFreak @kceaton1 @ant ... all of these comments Makes me feel the need to 'splain the situation! Not that I should have to ... but here goes:

I am friendly and open to almost everyone I meet [there have been very few exceptions] in my life ... up to a point. I prefer my solitude. However, in a rather large living environment where one must leave the property to smoke nicotine [don't judge me], human interaction with fellow pariahs is unavoidable. Several of us tend to hang out by the lake around the same times during the day and a few of us have become good friends. Over the years people come and go so he started hanging around [99% are women in this bunch by the way] on a regular basis shortly after moving here a couple of months ago. I'm generally not in a hurry to get to know someone new and will often avoid the gang altogether in favor of quiet time under a shady tree.

I was cordial with him at first, but I also trust my instincts which picked up a slight player/creep vibe that quickly overrode the initial physical attraction there could have been. He started bringing a chair out to sit by me if I didn't go where everyone was congregated. Chagrined, I try to zone him out by playing games on my phone [hint hint] and don't initiate any conversation. He has a asked a mutual friend to find out if I like him [what is this ... grade school??]. He has also made inappropriate comments when others aren't present.

So, ah ... I don't think it's me ... m'kay
