Bob, as much as this'll surprise you, I totally agree with what you're saying. The distribution of the stimulus money to couples making up to $150,000 is friggen ridiculous -- and I'm in that category. I will do what I did with the last two checks: give to local charities helping the homeless and communities of color (as much as I hate that term).

The worst part of this is that it sets up a liquidity trap. The Fed can't reduce buying crap debt (that BBB dogshit is at 4% should terrify anyone who understands how debt and the rating agencies work), nor can they allow rates to rise (thus totally screwing responsible savers). This is the cusp of a financial disaster that blew past 1929 on 9/17/19 and is now approaching the cataclysm of the South Seas Company collapsing. As far as I can see, this is a total melt-up in the markets because there's no stable returns and everyone is now in speculation mode.

Were it my call, I would scale the money along income (or non-income) lines: $10k for the lowest incomes, sliding scale from there. I'd also set up government-backed savings accounts that pay 10% for those people and only those people. I'd also pay off/down student debt along the same income scales.

I do not begrudge the wealthy for their wealth. But capitalism can't be a winner-take-all system. We live in a society, and society will always have winners and losers. The least we can do is ease the burden for those at the bottom by taking some from the top. I'm tired of the homeless camps and mentally-ill people wandering the streets of Seattle. They are the least of us and thus should be the ones who get the most help.

I saw a couple videos of his years ago and thought they were ok, but he seems to have the SNL problem of taking a mediocre joke and running it into the ground. For a while I thought he was poking fun at people that believed in whack-a-doo bullshit nonsense (as the videos I'd seen were mostly about spirity new-agey nonsense), but I'm no longer certain.

Gotta love how "communism" has come to simply mean "something I don't like." People have not done a good enough job complying with the voluntary recommendations that were made to protect everyone, so more draconian measures ended up being necessary to keep the hospitals from being even more overrun than they already are. You know, to reduce deaths. That's not communism, it's rational domestic policy. Funny how a lot of the people bitching about this "government interference with my freedoms" have a lot of overlap with those who are vocally "pro-life." They're literally fighting against policies meant to preserve life, on the basis of not wanting to be told what to do with their bodies, while also wanting to tell half of the population what they're allowed to do with their bodies. A couple things. Photo ID wouldn't do a thing if Chinese people look alike. An ID without photo would be just as viable. The woman in the original video was mostly directly contradicted by I believe the Indian woman, who mentioned that when boxes were opened and tabulated numbers didn't match the number of ballots(ie running ballots though multiple times, so she corroborates this part) then they would re-do the count to get the correct number. She never said she saw a mismatch observed but not corrected.

I'll point out a couple of significant differences in the way you characterise Joe's comment and what your Dear Leader said -
1. Biden made this statement in public and to their faces, and...
2. It was clearly said in a joking manner and meant to be in the spirit of camaraderie judging by the reaction he got from the troops.
Very different than the way Donnie snidely and backhandedly disrespected those who gave their lives many years ago and who still serve today. The fact that Mr. T could not be bothered to attend the memorial in France for these fallen heros because he was worried about mussing his ridiculous comb over (due to a misting rain) adds insult to injury.
So, technically, you are correct in ascribing Bidens quote, and probably not one of the smartest comments he has made, but you evidently can not understand, or don't want to admit, that the situations and context were totally different. Seems a little trollish to me, but that's just my take.
