Planes Collide And Explode At Haneda Airport

cloudballoon says...

and I can't shake off the feeling that the incident with the neck slashing of S. Korea's opposition leader is a copycat move from the Shinzo Abe one.

And decade like delayed Olympics, assassination of Shinzo Abe, etc.

RetroAhoy: X-COM

cloudballoon says...

X-COM & its sequels are THE strategy PC series I played & replayed the most ever, on both PC & Android on my tablet.

No other copycats I played like Jagged Alliance came close to my love of X-COM.

I always picked my team members that's high on Psych att/def. I prefer mind control the aliens to recon & go on suicide missions than using firepower.

How Mass Murders Should NOT Be Covered By The Media

wraith says...

As far as I understand the psychological reasoning behind this, it is the same as a well known effect in the area of suicides which in Germany we call Werther Effect after a novel be Wolfgang Goethe (published 1774), which caused a number of "copycat suicides".

It seems to me that a potential spree killer is desperately trying to be noticed by society either out of personal, religious or political reasons.

If you show such persons that they will get noticed, that they will get there 15 minutes of fame, it might push them a closer to the realization that committing mass murder is a way to be "noticed".

Back to Eden Documentary

shang says...

Good documentary but holy hell too much preaching...

But sad thing is the lessons on creating the garden are pure gold if you ignore the bible verses and such.

I've used wood chip cover and have also never had to water or fertilize the garden or rotate drops. If you copycat how nature works with covered ground then you can mimic nature in your garden and never have to water or fertilize it.

The proselytizing is a bit over the top, leave that out and this could have been award winning

Gay Server Who Claimed Tip Discrimination is a Fraud

bareboards2 says...

http://www.mediaite.com/online/gay-waitress-who-publicized-homophobic-note-is-habitual-liar-according-to-friends/

My best friend in 9th grade was a compulsive liar -- my mom tried to warn me but it wasn't until she told a lie that was easily proven false that I confronted her. Why would you lie to me, I asked. "I just wanted to say something interesting."

This woman seems to have that same pathological problem, and found a way to profit from it, too. When I first saw this story, I thought it was false -- something about it didn't ring true. Too copycat, with the whole Wounded Warrior veneer to boot.

I suspect she is perfectly okay with being exposed -- because if she wants to be "interesting", even at the expense of interpersonal relationships, man, has she ever reached her goal.

19-year-old hopes to revolutionize nuclear power

shang says...

he's copycatting the "Radioactive Boyscout" who built a reactor in his backyard in 1995
http://harpers.org/archive/1998/11/the-radioactive-boy-scout/

it leaked radiation and he was picked up and his back yard was dug up, garage and all, and put into barrells and taken to nuclear waste area. The EPA were all in "space suits" in his yard, and he had tricked the nuclear regulatory agency and several places into providing him with info by faking his age and making fake letterheads.

the wild thing is the boy scout actually made a breeder reactor, but it was leaking a lot of radiation the EPA was registering radioactive material all over the yard and into neighbor yards.
