This is ridiculous, it's clearly not a real golf ball. If you put a golf ball in a hydraulic press and apply tonnage it will pop like a grape before it gets this flat. Just smashing it real fast will not change the outcome. Cool effect in the vid. though.

Huh, this must be some sort of retinal blue-yellow channel adaptation. That's a cool effect. Nice demonstration.

That's the only plausible explanation, but the magnitude of the effect still seems large to me. A pleasant surprise I guess, and I agree that it's a very cool effect.

crotchflame, what you're seeing is the interference between the string and the shutter. The same reason you get jelly like movements when panning with a digital camcorder is the reason you're seeing the strings moving like this. The strings aren't actually forming the shapes you see in the same way as a building doesn't actually distort when a camcorder pans.

Even so, it's a very very cool effect and I really enjoyed watching it!

Captain kirk is a man's man, and making him all angst-ridden just doesn't seem right.

Still, it looks like it has some cool effects, and I'm usually down for anything that has lots of spaceships crashing into each other and planets blowing up.
