It's obvious you're niether a medical professional nor have ever had acupuncture. So keep trying to make sense by agreeing that it works but not to your satisfaction... how would YOU know?

This sounds pretty plausible to me, rather than the rantings of some random idiot.

It's not based on smoke and mirrors, and spirits and "humours"... but results.. and results are results. Everyone's body is different, and we dont even fully know how it all works yet. I'm not going to get acupuncture but i'm not going to rule it out because you're being a spaz.

There's another video somewhere that shows them put a cube of Aerogel in a white hot furnace. He takes it out with a pair of tongs and then picks it up, still glowing bright red. It is such a good insulator and such a bad conductor of heat that it doesn't even feel warm.

It's too bad they don't make more of it so we could all play with it. It is expensive. I can't wait until the patent expires.

You can dope diamonds and make them semi-conductors.

You are also right, this would make a fantastic substrate if they could grow Si. on them in the mean time.

Um, except all modern electronics are based on semi-conductors.. which diamonds are not. Can you dope diamond wafers with III-V? Can you grow Si on diamond? Otherwise the heat dissipation is useless. Plus the whole point is growing one 12" diameter silicon slug...

The only possible application would be to take s fully processed silicon wafer and then thin the back of the wafer to insanely thin, then CVD the synthetic diamond to act as the substrate then package it in something that takes heat out better.

I'm no expert, but to me that didn't sound like a very well played violin. But after another few generations we might have a perfectly playing robot violinist. We could make a robot orchestra. Would people want to see this after the novelty has worn off? Or will they have a supercomputer conductor robot who will play with different and innovative conducting styles.

I had the same thoughts as jasonyc, and watching it again I still do. I think he was standing dangerously close to the tracks -- his toes were pretty much on the rail. He only looked to the right and stepped back when the truck came into his peripheral vision.


I don't believe he stepped back because the truck entered his vision. I think what happened is when the conductor slammed on the brakes that sound made him turn.

While the truck may have pushed him out of the way of the train, I'm fairly certain he would not have been near the tracks if the truck hadn't been there, essentially shielding his view (and masking any sound) of the oncoming train.

Where was the conductor's horn?

I wonder what recourse & action is being done in response to this accident.
