Trudeau says Canadians are angry

newtboy says...

Canada and Mexico should not pause their tariffs, and should add 100% export taxes to Canadian energy (so America pays and Canada keeps the money). America cannot keep the lights on without it, we will pay anything to keep it coming, and the Canadians know it, just like Mexico knows we can’t keep food on the shelves without Mexican produce (soon exclusively since American farms can’t find workers to be able to produce produce).

The stupidest trade war in history is an apt name for this fiasco. Every penny doge could ever save has been squandered already with the losses this intentional commercial uncertainty has caused, and the negative effects are just beginning.

another head scratcher/gut churner/soul sighing show. it's way over time to get some patrols on the 'information highway'. the web of lies/undue social influence/bias reporting/echo chambers and general nastiness needs some lines of (lack of a better word) decency that nary be crossed.
it's been done before.
'fire in a crowed theater' put some measurement on of the definition of 'free speech'. there is a line where 'free speech' fails to be freedom & becomes the dungeons of despair.
it's a tough subject to gauge, but do trust caring* people can draw a 'line-in-the-sand' so young people don't kill themselves over cyber bulling. or hyper-partisan yodels don't attack random INNOCENT people. or where honesty and a love of variable facts becomes a touchstone.
it needs to happen.
this would be the (past) time to get all types together and hammer out some guidelines. Maybe, use existing laws. change the 230(#?) shield limits. AI monitoring. or have civil suits to sue, sue, and sue until the posting of anything that comes into a person's head, meets a reality check.
not against the exchange of ideas, challenges of the norms, or any free speech of merit (or even some of dubious value) -but just getting us out of the muck of the 'muddy minimum-maintenance roadway of disinformation'.
peace.

Ozzy Man Reviews: Destination Cucked! - Cybertruck Fails #2

newtboy says...

Maybe so about the parts ordering, I can’t find that, still wouldn’t sit well with me that my car could order it’s own parts in my name…and I would expect abuse, especially considering the company owner.

I don’t have one to read the warranty directly, but not covering any damages incurred off the pavement even on flat level dirt roads or driveways is not normal for a truck, especially a 4x4. Fords come with an off road package and do not exclude damages/failures that happen on maintained dirt roads or flat level grass (maybe excluding potholes)…and they don’t get stuck on either!

I feel I can safely say no other truck voids the warranty for “exposure to sunlight, wind, or water”, listed on the “warranty”.

https://www.reddit.com/r/RealTesla/comments/1d0ld6y/tesla_cybertruck_warranty_doesnt_include/

Tesla is well known for covering nothing off dry pavement including damage from puddles or mud (neither of which should damage a truck, and don’t damage Fords).

visionep said:

The parts thing only happens when vehicles and replacement parts are under warranty. @newtboy If you can find the source showing the warranty is voided driving a Cybertruck in the grass then I'll find the same language in the warranty docs for Fords.

This stuff is funny and Tesla doesn't deserve any leeway since their CEO has apparently gone"fact free" lately, but pushing easy to discredit "facts" seems like it distracts from the real issues with these vehicles and the company as a whole.

Shogun - Trailer

S2 is coming.

Considering its glowing reception so far, it would be a surprise if they don’t try to find a way to extend it. It’s a rare successful idea that isn’t repeated to death by Hollywood…this is already the second time around for this story (and it sounds like it’s much better than the first from what I’ve read).
It would be a shame to change countries…it’s a fictionalized but semi-historical drama, so the story can continue for centuries with barely any plot writing required, just dialog.

Vox: Is it time to worry about bird flu?

newtboy says...

I don’t know about bird flu, but I had the flu last week and it was much worse than Covid for us.

Bird flu is transferred to cattle and pets….and has been found in milk and meat. It is beyond time to worry, especially since our pandemic response team has been fired….again…just like it was before Covid (by the same person who learned nothing).
The FDA and CDC are run by a man with severe brain damage both from decades of heroin abuse and brain worms eating a significant portion of his brain (although to eat the rotting road kill and get brain worms, he had to have serious brain damage already)…he doesn’t believe in vaccinations and seems to believe the best thing is full epidemic and let whoever dies die.
With Medicare and Medicaid in limbo at best, hospitals are already struggling to stay open, just wait until they are chocked full of patients but few if any staff. Its coming.

Buy PPE now while you can. N95 masks are already gone from shelves here, so is hand sanitizer. Things will get weird, and there will be no public health warnings telling you it is happening. They have been banned outright.

Visit California: It's America's Future

newtboy says...

Yep. It’s awful. A total anarchic hell scape everywhere. Believe it all. Stay away. Nobody wants to live HERE.

Don’t come begging for a handout red states. You insist California is a failed economy, we should start taking more from the federal budget than we contribute just like you have for decades. (California pays around $400 BILLION in federal taxes and gets about $140 BILLION back every year, meaning we provide about $260 BILLION in “welfare” to other (red) states yearly)

134 vehicle pileup in Fort Worth, Texas

cloudballoon says...

I've always wondered... why nobody that got in the pileup honks and create a loud cascading effect to alert the incoming ones and slow down to minimize the carnage?

Is that a thing? Does it help? Is it realistic (understand people are in shock and/or physically hurt, so it's not as easy as what coming out of my mouth)? I'm not sure.

"F*ck Your Feelings!" - (Elon Musk H-1B Visa Music Video)

cloudballoon says...

Of course. My take was the lyrics could literally come out of Musk's mouth verbatim IRL and no sane person should be surprised he meant every word of it.

My dad liked to play “kill the kid” where if he caught me walking in the road he would drive at me at 15-20mph, I would jump on the hood, he would hit the breaks so I rolled off, then he would drive off. He said it was to see what the neighbors would do, but he did it at our ranch with no neighbors to see more than once, so…..
Call it a prank, inappropriate joking, fun between a dad and his weird kid, or serious child abuse, it sure beat how my brother treated me…but yes, it left multiple scars I can still see 45 years later…they’re not the only ones. Growing up in Texas in the 70s was dangerous.
Nobody ever said anything. I know some of the neighbors and my mother saw him do it. That’s way scarier and more scaring than the car coming at me.
(Side note- Just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t trying to get me!)

Carrying a bit of cynicism is a good thing in general, as long as it doesn't fall into paranoia. I'm all for siblings & peers pranking each other, but coming from parents... that's a bit much. It leaves scars.

Gaetz Ammendment

newtboy says...

The campaign publicly admitted Gaetz isn’t a good candidate for AG, but he is not meant to be a good AG he is meant as quote- “a big middle finger to the DOJ and FBI.”

And it turns out he brought the sex trafficked under age sex workers to Fox News to show them off in 2018-19 and he used his son’s name to hide his payments to them for sex on Venmo and other apps.

Don’t forget Cawthorn (hard core Republican) who quit congress because Gaetz wouldn’t stop trying to get him to come to his drug fueled sex parties with underage girls. This isn’t news to the house or Republicans, they knew it for years and years and years.

The next 4 years may destroy America….they will certainly harm it severely with this caliber of leadership.

Your evidence?
Russian bloggers on twitter?
Beyoncé, Lizzo, Megan, Eminem, the Harris campaign and official campaign financial records all say it’s 100% bullshit spread from Twitter accounts.
You bought and repeated another stupid lie without checking it out, because you don’t care if it’s true you just love to talk shit like a spoiled little girl.

The Harris campaign, as of Oct. 17, lists only one endorsement-related expenditure — for $75 — in its Federal Election Commission financial reports. It was made to the League of Conservation Voters, a pro-environment nonprofit, in June, when President Joe Biden was still running for reelection.

https://www.factcheck.org/2024/10/posts-make-unfounded-claim-about-beyonces-endorsement-of-harris/
Sorry, not sorry, liar, another stupid lie debunked as soon as you spout it.

Why is it that you continue to buy every stupid lie you’re sold and never are embarrassed or apologetic when your stupid insulting lies are proven to be lies? Must be because you have no morals or ethics left, and we’re never smart.

By comparison….
The felon’s campaign finance records showed he had to pay actors to pretend to be auto workers, union workers, blacks for Trump, etc…paid people to show up at his rallies and post a picture to prove it, etc…Elon had to pay millions for votes (and is being accused of hacking the election using Starlink to edit the data it transmitted, then crashing the satellite to erase the evidence…14 million missing votes, recounts started!)…every single relationship he’s ever had including familial has been transactional.
If you actually had a problem with that, you wouldn’t support the felon who only has paid spokespeople who make millions themselves…parking lot attorney Alina Habba?!? How many millions did she get paid?
Even Melania had to get paid $250000 to stoop to speaking for 15 minutes to support her husband.

THAT is a LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!

You also have conceded that you expect every metric of the economy to be worse under Trump than it has been under Biden, you can’t come up with a single measure you expect to improve in the next 4 years…and have telegraphed your nonsensical intent to blame Biden for Trump’s economy and accept no blame despite holding full control of all 3 branches of government. If only your people had been honest about that before the election things would be different.

Kamala paid Beyoncé $10 MILLION to publicly support her!!!

$5 MILLION for Megan Thee Stallion
$3 MILLION for Lizzo
$1.8 MILLION for Eminem

These fake relationships is what you guys wanted in the government? People paying people to act like they like each other.

A Billion $ campaign and she still LOST.

That is a LOSER!!!!!!!!!!

I thought you wouldn’t be able to pin yourself down on any way the next 4 years will be “better”…I was 100% correct.

You might note he and Musk have admitted their economic plan will lead to a depression by next summer, they just think they can rebuild better after they destroy the economy.

Shocker…all maga advisors have already come out to say “yes, project 2025 is real and is our actual agenda.”
Anyone with a brain knew it, sadly that’s only about 1/4 of America. Well…248 years of democracy is still a pretty good record. It would have been nice to see 250 though.

Any Latinos who voted for him are about to find out that even naturalized citizens aren’t safe from their plan…worried?….Puerto Ricans aren’t even safe (recall he wants to “trade” PR for Greenland, and has plans to return Alaska to Russia). It’s going to be interesting times, especially for non white males.
I wonder what his plans for Hawaii are. Are they going to be Chinese in 2 years?
