Programmers Unite! - The Sift Talk Where Code Monkeys Meet (Science Talk Post)
>> ^gwiz665:I'm taking a class on Flash and php now, but for the record I hate flash like the plague. Hopefully I'll get over this once it does what I tell it to do, but for now: raaaahhr!
Are you using ming? It has bindings for both PHP and Python, and I've been running rings around my GF, who uses FlashCS3. Writing code to generate frames is much faster, than playing with SWF objects/frames manually.

She USED to be a lesbian, now look at her.
I'm with dag on this one. Besides... I like to think there is some all powerful code monkey running this server.
But on a serious note:
I knew some one who was part of a Coven (yes I know its crazy), then one day she was saved after being dumped into a vat of water behind the podium of a southern baptist church.
Religious people are raving lunatics. I pray to the video game god, at least it rewards me with gold, player versus player, and unimaginable fun.

I went to the website of the guy who did this, and he's doing the JoCo thing of a song a week... but, not as well. Almost every song is some simple bit (usually the name of the song) repeated ad nauseum.
So, I don't think there's a threat that he'll become huge or anything, plus each song is but seconds long.
Still, some of them are catchy.
JoCo song of the week?
Jonathan Coulton Now very famous amongst the geek circle, for songs such as Code Monkey, 1st of May, and Still Alive from the end credits of Portal. He did a thing a week for some time, where he released a song every week. You can download a large number of them for free from his site, and then buy some if you like as well. He's does a fine song does he.
Don't hire your family to do your voiceovers
Who writes this shit???? Oh yeah....code monkey, nose-picker cheeto-eatin', no life-havin', pasty sun-starved mothrfckrs do.......AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!
Election08 Channel's fate (Election Talk Post)
Perhaps it is time for some channel house-cleaning....anyone who abandons their channel as the code monkey(s) have it now, is able to then create another channel-in the old days, you announced the end, made calls for a caretaker, and if no one took it after 7 days(creationists)which has not happened to my recollection, it is permanently gonseville......cept' for Tay Tv- do we have a precedent???
I still like the wildwestshow, but when I saw a way I took it, like in the real world-As it is now, it is kinna loose and flimsy...
That makes 3 channels so far from choggie.....oh where is that karaidl???
Portal's "Still Alive" Done in Mario Paint
"Still Alive" written by Jonathan Coulton (visit http://www.jonathancoulton.com/store/downloads and listen to more of his music! and maybe buy some!) I recommend "Mandelbrot Set" and his oddly creepy cover of "Don't Talk to Strangers".
Also, the second-most popular Jonathan Coulton song on the Internet is Code Monkey, so watch that Sifted video too.

Yeah. I totally agree. Though I've known composers who don't play instruments well, and I know he has friends/significant others who usually back him on records.
In reply to this comment by JAPR:
I'm not sure why he doesn't get a band to play with him when he tours, but then again there's something charming about him playing the songs solo acoustic. You have to think that the other music you hear in the recorded versions is stuff he wrote, so he really is a decent guitarist, but you can't really play any sort of lead line while singing without a chord progression to back you up. He does have an absolutely great voice though, that's for sure.

The streaming was jumpy for me, in a way youtube is not. That is, it's midnight here, and I can watch even that HD youtube flash without pause now. But I can't watch this video without it just stopping dead for a sec or so every now and then.
I don't think I've ever seen Jonathan Coulton sing without other instruments backing him before. I hadn't noticed...well, the nice way to put it is I hadn't noticed how much better his singing is than his guitar.

<edit> ups, called dead accidentally. Thank Siftbot I dont have any power.
And a lightbulb goes on! (Sift Talk Post)
I'm not what you would call a code monkey. Probably more like a code Neanderthal. I think I might have accidentily typed a line of C++ on a computer one day. But that's not important right now.
Forgive my ignorance but it seems to me that making the option available on a persons profile settings wouldn't burn out the processors. But like I say I don't know jack so I'm probably just making up crap.
Well maybe someday when VS becomes a Fortune 500 company. In the mean time any code wizards that could throw in suggestions. I think this would vastly improve the site and give the user a deeper experience and further engross them in their addiction to the site.
