The video showed up when I pre-viewed it before clicking submit. But after submit nothing appeared. If I view my personal Un-Sifted list is appears there and is viewable, but it's not viewable from the main page.

I don't know what happened - I swear I clicked down-vote - and then my browser crashed, when I reloaded, it had voted up.
--Trust me - not a voluntary up-vote.

@Mordhaus @newtboy
It's possible @C-note does not know about the channel assignment rules of the sift (https://videosift.com/faq#channels). It's also possible he does not have the ability to see the definitions of each channel. From what i can tell the channel definitions are not available for those using vs6. The old sift style still makes them available so this may be an/the issue. Also you will notice if you attempt to click on any of the channel links siftbot has put in the above comment, they do not work. I think @lucky760 may need to address this issue one way or another.

(edit) also for the record i see channel assignments improperly used by many if not most sifters due to the fact they may know how some channels are defined but obviously not all of them.

The Diversity of Local Independent News

"Hi, I’m(A) ____________, and I’m (B) _________________…"

okay

"(B) Our greatest responsibility is to serve our Northwest communities. We are extremely proud of the quality, balanced journalism that KOMO News produces."

okay.

"(A) But we’re concerned about the troubling trend of irresponsible, one sided news stories plaguing our country. The sharing of biased and false news has become all too common on social media."

I mean, with reports of social media "shadow banning" conservative accounts (and other one sided controlling of content), it troubles me too.

"(B) More alarming, some media outlets publish these same fake stories … stories that just aren’t true, without checking facts first."

True statement. Remember this: https://youtu.be/WhHAPsXhbR8

"(A) Unfortunately, some members of the media use their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control “exactly what people think” … This is extremely dangerous to a democracy."

aka opinion as fact. also bad.

"(B) At KOMO it’s our responsibility to pursue and report the truth. We understand Truth is neither politically “left nor right.” Our commitment to factual reporting is the foundation of our credibility, now more than ever."

so, they pledge to do their job. okay.

"(A) But we are human and sometimes our reporting might fall short. If you believe our coverage is unfair please reach out to us by going to KOMOnews.com and clicking on CONTENT CONCERNS. We value your comments. We will respond back to you."

when they screw up, we have a way to tell them. how is this bad?

"(B) We work very hard to seek the truth and strive to be fair, balanced and factual. … We consider it our honor, our privilege to responsibly deliver the news every day."

again, they pledge to do their job.

"(A) Thank you for watching and we appreciate your feedback."

I don't see the big deal.

How Dark Patterns Trick You Online

MilkmanDan says...

Hmm. 5.5 minutes of good info, making us think about tricky ways that online stuff gets us to click or pay attention to stuff that isn't good for us (the audience) but can benefit the creator/host.

And then there is a brief cut to black that doesn't obviously mark an endpoint, continued background music that doesn't mark the change, followed by a paid sponsorship shill for "hey, if you're worried about this shit, TOTES BUY THIS VPN DUDES" plus icons for "obviously you want some merch or to donate to my patreon!".

Dance on spinning floor - Yoann Bourgeois / CCN2

bremnet says...

Just when a fella' gets tired of remakes of remakes on the big screen and tv, and thinks the well of fresh ideas in arts and performance are all used up or just aren't inspiring any more, something like this comes along. Even at more than 5 minutes in length, it holds you until the very end, which is something in these days of instant gratification and click click click click . All this, and an initially unexpected choice of music that wound up really complimenting the dancers. Nicely done.
