RITTENHOUSE, Law, Verdict

newtboy says...

Not with the judge throwing the case like he did, acting as the defense…but is there any doubt he’s going to be under threat of death the rest of his life? He’s going to have to spend his life surrounded by white supremacist guards looking over his shoulder.
People are going to be chasing him with rifles the rest of his life…he better not reach for anything, ever, or they might fear for their lives and shoot him in the head, in self defense of course.
Edit:He is now the public face of racist murderers literally getting away with murder, I’m sure you’re celebrating.
I’d murder that racist cunt if I saw him….his racist parents too. Give it a week before his house burns.
He might expect some federal charges may be coming.

As to doubt, how many times this year have you had no doubt at all….and been dead wrong, and racist in your wrongness. I’ve lost count after 30. We only have to go back to yesterday when you claimed domestic violence was 1-2% of violent crime and rarely involves guns, and that “ inner city gang killing” (which obviously means black thugs in your mind) accounts for over 90%….both dead wrong and hyper racist.

New Rule: Words Matter | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)

bcglorf says...

@newtboy,

thanks for clarification.

So in your view, do you see the left objecting to any of the following things that kinda speak to Maher's point, and I think fits to the point of the 'left' being upset with him,

-Defending Chapelle which left would decry invoking their definition of dog whistle, transphobia...
-Pointing out a correlation between violence and Islamic extremism which left would decry as islamophobia
-Believing sports/olympics should divide competitors based on biological sex rather than gender identity == Transphobia
-(Big any famous celebrity accused of sex crimes) and suggesting they deserve a fair trial == failure to believe victims/survivors

Those are all things that have been pretty commonly defended by large groups of the left from what I've been seeing. Am I wrong?

Kid Gets Caught While Trying to Steal Package

The camera isn't racist. The homeowner might be a racist (we would not know unless he/she uploads every instance of such attempts to give a cold-hard-fact account that's free of manipulation -- even though that's STILL not factoring in the socio-econo-racial problem of the neighborhood -- if you choose to see things with a racial lens). But the comment absolutely is racist.

Years ago, living in my suburb home, my bike was stolen by 2 kids (garage door was open as I was mowing the lawn, but I went inside for the loo for 2 mins), I was lucky and spotted them about 5~6 streets down (took 2 lucky correct turns). They were 2 kids about 8~10 y.o. One White one Asian. Guess which one was the older, pack leader (hold my adult-size bike) and absolutely showing no remorse after getting caught?

Regardless, the kids parents might have a hard life working on weekends at low paying jobs so couldn't spend time with these kids. Who knows? I'm not so quick to judgement without knowing the root causes.

Thing is, I blame society-at-large and not see it as a racial thing. Kids are kids, easy to succumb to such temptation without good parental/peer/mentor guidance. Especially nowadays, they see adults making a CAREER/LIVING as Porch Pirates, what examples are adults giving them to imitate? You have like 40% of the adult population celebrate con mans and elect them Senators, Governors & President!

The attempted US coup

newtboy says...

"True fake news".....yep, Bob. That's exactly right. Most "fake news" is actually true. "Fake news" doesn't mean it's fake, or wrong, or untrue, it just means you don't like the news. Like a two year old denying they ate the jelly despite it being all over their face.

Again, Cyber Ninjas STILL hasn't turned in any report, they've said they haven't even started writing one yet, now almost 4 weeks after their deadline. They gave a lame excuse that they all got Covid (weeks after the report was due) and haven't had an opportunity to get together and compile their report....but they have had time to get together with the Republican sponsors of their review and have a large unmasked indoor party to celebrate their review....The review they haven't produced.

They've also continued to ignore state Supreme court orders to turn over ALL work products, notes, communications, etc.

If they aren't massive and total frauds, why are they still hiding?

It's more Mike Lindel, making up ridiculous claims, giving a date long in the future when they'll publish their "proof", then never follow through. Actually, it's a Hell of a lot like Trump's birther lie...tell the lie for years, make a spectacular public event to celebrate bringing the truth to light and exposing your political enemies with the truths you've uncovered...then use that event to sell yourself and your products without ever mentioning, much less producing even one scintilla of evidence, much less proof of your outrageous lies.

CNN trying to smear the forensic audit in Maricopa county.

Why are Democrat so afraid to a forensic audit?
IF you are innocent why are they hiding?

I understand. I see what you mean about the gallows, but in that case I can see clearly they are intending to celebrate or memorialize the attackers; they say as much themselves. I just don't personally believe they had negative or similar intentions in Valparaiso, IN when conceiving the float.

I'll agree that something isn't going well when half of everyone who sees it is like 'wtf' and the message isn't clear. I just don't think they ever meant it that way. :-p

newtboy said:

@JiggaJonson I agree yesterday was definitely celebrating an attack against America, but I think the same could reasonably said of a float depicting the capitol smashed and ransacked, covered with with stop the steal graffiti, and with a gallows out front, which I think is more analogous. If they excused that by saying it's intended to memorialize the dead officers, I think that excuse would seem ridiculous and hollow....but that's just, like, my opinion, man.

@newtboy After the thankfully uneventful rally in Washington yesterday, it occurred to me; THAT is like celebrating the attack. The buildings on fire aren't celebrating the hijackers. The rally, however, is cheering on those who attacked or would attack the US Capitol.

To me, it's like having a float of a burning sinking USS Arizona at a Pearl Harbor anniversary event, or worse.
I do see a distinction, especially since those lost in NY on 9/11 didn't heroically go down fighting the enemy. There's little to celebrate about the image.

Im unsure how I feel about this so far. I get that "celebrating the attack" = bad. But it was meant as a memorial, I've never been to a pleasant memorial, and some of them do show people being attacked.

I'm not sure exactly what is in bad taste about this. I see many war memorials where soldiers have either been attacked or in the middle of being attacked. I don't see the distinction between the buildings and the soldiers.

Am I missing something here? I always thought memorials were supposed to be sad or solemn. To @noims point of humor, I don't see any attempt at humor here. Just a low budget float without an art director.

Speaking of dark humor though, it's not as though the Kawani's are doing their thing with their go carts dressed up as 747 planes pretending to crash into the float.

I ask genuinely, why are the tortured figures in the holocaust memorials not being derided as "celebrating their torture" ?

How is depicting a wounded person different than a wounded building in terms of war memorial creation?
(not the diff btween a building and a person) just the bit about why it's suddenly offensive to show something that was attacked.

The "someone" who thought this was a good idea is the Valparaiso GOP.
Asked for comment on the backlash, the chairman said "I think we hit it spot on", "they all liked it".
Talk about tone deaf. You hit the towers spot on, eh? That's definitely what your float is about.

This seems a lot more like celebrating the attack than remembering the victims.
