Worst Twerk Fail EVER - Girl Catches Fire!

sanderbos says...

So now I've read some more comments here and also on youtube on the video.
I stand by what I said in the second comment (also: only one video on the account, no info on the aftermath in the description, weird cut off moment of the video, candles on even though there is sunlight on the wall).

Having said all that, it is a puzzle, and I am not an authority on either fake videos or house fires. I mean, I was pointing out that I thought it was an *incredibly* good fake, so then it is not easy to detect it is fake (see e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDWCbYevSbI for a very bad fake incl. analysis).

@sanderbos, yer joking, right? Last time I checked a table fulla candles were flammable enough to ignite grain alcohol at 2600 °F (candle, burning match) and stunt-doubles were still cost-prohibitive for school chums or wage-slaves to afford.
That was a glass coffee table and that inordinately large ass may have had some cuts after that and those not from any editing suite.

Haven't you ever been in a stripper's apartment? They look just like this....cheap furniture, ghetto apartment, candles and bourbon on the table in the afternoon while practicing douchebag mating-rituals, etc.
Judging this fail ISU.....up-card, 9.6

Obviously fake (clothes are more fire retardant than that), but really very very well done apart from the fire.
Usually there are multiple tells that a video was faked, but here it is only condensed story telling (the whole story is told from start to finish in 37 seconds, real life is a little more boring that), and from candles to full on torch in 2 seconds that gives it away.

Wow, it feels different around here. Yes, I got you the charter membership so you could pretty the place up and you succeeded in doing so!!!! It looks awesome...I really love the colors you chose...AND I'm so glad you finally have an avatar picture...it was time to stop procrastinating and post one already. It suits you.

Glad your headache is gone. I only get them when I spend long periods of time staring at a computer screen or when I'm dehydrated. It wouldn't surprise me if staring at a computer screen is what gave you that headache since it seemed like you were on here all day.

I don't mind so much when the power goes out (as long as it doesn't last too long)...it's fun to have to use candles and find something to do that doesn't require electricity for a change. At least you have an iphone and a connection to the internet. You're not totally cut off!

Ok, I have to ask....I'm assuming FSM is internet slang for something, but I have no idea what...and I even googled it to try to figure it out....I got "flying spaghetti monster", "female seeking male", among other things. What does it mean?

Procrastinatron said:

Yeah, the headache passed all right. Thank Jebus for that, because it was one of the worst I've ever had!

Another bit of bad luck, however, is that I currently don't have any electricity, so I'm stuck with my iPhone and feeling both dejected and hamstrung.

But this, too, shall pass.

And about the Cannabis vid, I honestly sort of expected it.

I mean, most people don't exactly come to VS for entire documentaries.

Oh, and... I just received charter membership. Was that you?

If so...

OH MY FREAKING FSM THAT'S AWESOME THANK YOU!!!

Bank of America Employees Were Told to Lie to Home Owners

JiggaJonson says...

Well, just ask @blankfist , if banks ever did this, people would just go to another bank. No government intervention needed here.

Oh wait: http://investor.bankofamerica.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=71595&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1838343&highlight=

"'We are doing more business with our customers and clients, and gaining momentum across every customer group we serve,' said Chief Executive Officer Brian Moynihan."

It must be that people like being taken advantage of. I know that's why I personally own a rubber bondage set, because I'd rather get taken advantage of via hot candle wax and use a credit bureau. Different strokes for different folks.

Handcrafting a Remake of Conan's Father's Sword

Xaielao says...

Cool vid. As good as the first Conan movie was, it didn't hold a candle to Robert E Howard's work. The 'remake' was supposed to better reflect Howard's Conan but.. we all know how that turned out.

How to Make an Emergency Crisco Candle

chingalera says...

Probably shouldna be sharing this observation buuut-This would work very good for sabotaging a car, perhaps someone with whom one has trouble forgiving or getting along with-Place candle with large wick under gas tank area, it should burn fast and hard enough to cause a potential problem-

You really don't want to malign certain people in certain ways....the repercussions could become....creative, varied, and....well just non-beneficial!

Atheist TV host boots Christian for calling raped kid "evil"

shinyblurry says...

Its not a dilemma for me, I know exactly as much as you, or anybody else do about god: Nothing.

All you can say here is that you don't know anything about God. If you don't know anything about God, then how can you know what anyone else knows about God?

Remember, I'm not the one who believes in imaginary things.

You seem to state here that your assumption that God is imaginary is a fact, which is just the same as merely imagining something is true.

The fact that people like you THINK you can no something and comfortably believe in something for which there is not a shred of evidence, is first and foremost YOUR problem.

There are good reasons as to why someone could believe in a God, but I wouldn't believe in a God based on those reasons alone. I believe in God because of personal revelation. The scripture says that this is the way that God reveals Himself to everyone. My question to you is, could God reveal Himself in such a way to you that you could be certain that He is?

When it comes to grounds for making knowledge claims, well, in my view knowledge, like the universe and life itself, is a bottoms up thing, we start at zero, and then build gradually on sound arguments and evidence. Like Carl Sagan once put it: "science is a candle in the dark" and that candle is shining ever brighter. Newton said he was standing on the shoulders of giants, and now we can stand on Newtons shoulders and see even farther.

My question to you here is, how do you ever get past zero? The ground of the sound arguments and evidence that you're perceiving is your own reasoning power. How do you justify your reasoning as being sound without using circular reasoning?

I answer the question about whether there is a god in exactly the same way as I would about santa clause. I'm pretty sure, based on the aforementioned hard-earned knowledge we do have, combined with the fact that we have NO information suggesting there might be one, that there isnt one. But at the same time I recognize that we cannot be absolutely certain. I do regard it as a fact as good as any that there is no god.

There isn't a good reason to believe Santa Claus exists but there are good reasons to believe that the Universe was created by an all powerful being. The idea of God has explanatory power. The very question of whether the Universe has an intelligent causation is a rational question. My question to you is, how would you tell the difference as to whether the Universe was or wasn't designed? How could you tell which Universe you lived in?

Well, that's the dilemma for atheists, in that the worldview itself gives no ground for making any knowledge claims at all. Therefore, the conclusion becomes that you don't actually know anything. For instance, if someone asked you what the speed limit is and you said "I think it's 60 miles an hour" would you say that you know what the speed limit actually is? No, obviously not, and that is the essential problem with being an atheist..it is a semantic game in the end because you can't justify any knowledge claim to be able to say you did or didn't know there was a God in the first place..

Jon Stewart on Gun Control

shatterdrose says...

When I hear the argument about hammers, I laugh, because who ever believes that is a dumbass. And then I realize, people actually believe it, and then I'm sad.

Yes, assault rifles are outnumbered by hammers . . . maybe. Actually, BLUNT OBJECTS outnumbers rifles, but that includes bats, bricks, printers, pianos, pipes, candle holders and the whole ensemble of clue.

Now, in reality most murder is between people who know each other. That's why serial killers are more terrifying. They're killing people they don't know, seemingly at random. Which puts the paranoia in the population and people start freaking. Random killings just seem more terrifying. For some reason people just don't expect their mom to kill them. Who knows why, must be some weird fluke or Buddha or something.

The idea that I can go watch a movie with my daughter and some guy with an overloaded assault rifle, body armour etc can come in and just shoot everyone is way more terrifying a prospect than my mother-in-law finally snapping and picking up a knife and stabbing me. First off, I could totally kick her ass. Second, the former I can't do anything about. Despite the "it takes a good man with a gun" bullshit, reality shows otherwise. 9mm versus bulletproof vest, smoke grenade, IED's and assault rifles just doesn't cut it. But I don't play CoD . . .

In regards to the constitution, yeah, when it was written the military and the people had the same access to weaponry. Matter of fact, we didn't even have a standing army. It really was up to the states to get a regulated militia to keep the country safe from invaders. So comparing that to printed newspapers and tv and internet is, well, simple. It's a similar argument most paranoid gun owners use for everything. Let's just take a superficial look and ignore reality. Kind of like real dictators and tyrants taking away 22mm hand guns while pointing their tanks at your house.

I think that's the greatest irony . . . those who wish to own guns to protect themselves from tyrants are blindly following their leaders and scream for murder and revolt, or 1766 will rise again! yadda yadda, are becoming the same puppets they claim they are protecting themselves from. No one saw Hitler coming? Well, he sounded a lot like Beck honestly. So did Stalin, etc. The people who followed them thought they made absolute sense, and then this and that happened and now we all know them as mass murdering fiends.

So again, are we really talking gun control so we have the right to become the fourth reich, or are we really wanting a worthwhile discussion on saving lives?
