I am up in the air about his fear.
He reacts at first like he's afraid, but once the dogs are out of his range, he doesn't look for an escape route like someone in fear would do, or even look around to be sure neither dog is coming back, he continues to advance towards the back of the property, directly towards the now injured, semi cornered dog. He also certainly doesn't look at all afraid in the second view when he's leaving, I see no fear in his walk or stance, and certainly not in the lunging swipe at the barking dog.

...but, giving him every benefit of a doubt, assuming he was terrified of the dogs and just didn't show it clearly, HE'S still 100% at fault for trespassing, more so (if that's possible) in a yard with dogs (the gas company keeps a record of which houses have dogs, and the meter readers insist you put them away when they come...at least here in Cali before we got wireless meters) and therefore he's 100% at fault for his injurious reactions, even if they were in self defense, making him and the company 100% liable for any bills IMO. I hope they get excellent medical care for both dogs and get their child a good, expensive therapist, and I hope it's all at gas company expense...a high enough bill might make them change their policy. A dead tech in someone's yard would make them change, I'm pretty sure of that.

Sadly, I'm relatively certain this isn't the first time something like this has happened with that company. Any company that sends people to enter your yard once a month is going to have issues with pets now and then, but it's not like people have much choice in gas companies, so bad customer satisfaction ratings aren't a real issue for them.

I wish they posted the part where he enters, I'm curious about whether there was a closed gate that he opened, or if the yard was just open like it is when he leaves.

That's cold, but not unmanageable. Get yourself a good semi-dry wetsuit (including booties, gloves and hood), pair it with some merino thermals and you'd be sweet as.

I really wish I knew about this 15 years ago when I broke my back the first time. I'm sure it could have helped my recovery, which instead took months partially paralyzed on the couch and years for even partial recovery, and I'm now permanently 'broken'.
I live in N Cali, where it's not usually warm, so I don't go swimming often. It wasn't until last year in Hawaii that I realized how good snorkeling was for my back, because it let me exercise and stretch without the pressure, weight, and jarring I get when exercising on land.
I have a hot tub which helps, but it's not the same by far when you can't stand up and still be under water.
Knowing what I know now, I should have found an indoor pool and spent a lot of time there. I would likely be in much better shape today had I done that right away.

I get your point, but I feel this is more akin to fixing the ignition but ignoring the fact that there are no brakes on the car. It's all fine to do it that way, unless you put the car on the road before you fix it all.
I just fear that leaving these laws (or portions thereof) in effect means they will be used and abused to abuse people, as they have been used in the past. I find them disgusting attempts to make homosexuality illegal, and leaving them on the books also indicated it's immoral by the states measure. That needs to be fixed, as it dehumanizes a large number of people for nothing.
I hope someone WILL pick this up as a battle worth fighting. I don't want my tax dollars going to support homophobic, illegal, immoral laws, their use, or even their removal by the courts when it would be so simple and reasonable to have taken care of it as they re-wrote the law. It's abhorrent to me that it's assumed that just bringing this issue up would end debate and halt the bill...it's likely reality, but it's disgusting.

As a person who has solar on their roof, our bills have shown a slight decline (and I live in a tropical location with no obscuring of the panels), but that doesn't offset the cost of production (both in labour and energy input which is mostly supplied by carbon based sources). I run a 6 KW/h array which is slightly overclocked as we are capped at 5 KW/h input to the grid (at 8c KW/h sell, 36c KW/h buy). I'm looking at a ROI in ~11-15 years

There are also many studies (and not just from people who are pro nuke or anti-climate change) showing that solar PV in general, and rooftop solar specifically, is small potatoes in terms of energy returns, even when considering possible future gains in panel efficiency and storage technology.

I am not bashing solar because I don't like it, I spent the money to get an array on the roof because I think we do need to do something, but I'm not kidding myself in to believing that we're saving the planet when the vast majority of solar PV going out these days is manufactured in countries that emit enormous amounts of carbon and pay people peanuts to do the work... When, as you say, solar is heavily subsidised or has rebates offered to drive take up.

Nuke is expensive, but it returns far more energy than is invested to build it. Hydro, similarly (although Cali etc shows why hydro might be a dead end in this changing world climate). We can invest an enormous amount of time in half measures, or we can do it right, at least until we crack large scale fusion power production.

If it worked as well as it's hyped to do, huzzah, happy days. But so far, the boom is mostly hyperbole. At the very least, f#ck off subsidies/rebates etc to households and instead build huge solar PV farms with helio tracking arrays which make a better return on energy invested and basically give far more bang for buck. Or sink it all in to wind and cut back on PV. It's a feel good technology with hidden baked in carbon costs that is lulling us in to a false sense of security.

How much water does the nutritionally equivalent amount of veggie require? This can't be measured pound for pound and veggies and grains are not as nutrient dense as meat. I have a feeling if an honest look was done at the math, Moby might end up missing a shower.

I'm sorry, but I still have to disagree. It sure looked to me like he bumped the kids repeatedly, angrily advancing on them in a violent way. As I read them, stand your ground covers EXACTLY that (we don't have them here in Cali). You don't have to wait to be hit, only be in reasonable fear that an attack is coming. From this video, any jury would say it's reasonable to feel threatened in that situation. Since he touched them, it no longer applies and could simply be called self defense.
Stand your ground laws are not just about land owners, it's for anyone on the street. In the most public case of them being used "successfully", neither party was at home, they were both on the street.

You may be right, he would be sued if he ran them down, but if it was accidental, he would win that suit because they shouldn't have been there and you usually can't successfully sue with 'unclean hands' (meaning you were doing something against the law that caused your damage).

I'm sure in many instances you're correct about his garden. It can be incredibly hard to grow things outside their native areas/environment. I try to do it myself, and it does take longer and more work to get them to fruit (I have some loquats and Asian pears growing here in N Cali, outside their preferred zones. The loquats fruited for the first time this year, after 8-10 years in the ground. The Asian pears are even older, and have yet to bloom. I hope I have better luck with my new nectarine tree.)

I just thought that finding out about these odd plants, finding where they might be, and collecting the seeds would be incredibly difficult for him, even with help. Also, he seemed to have quite a collection of seeds, I'm guessing some of them haven't been planted yet.

Don't know Texas, but in Cali, the posted semi truck speed limit is at least 10 mph slower than cars on freeways.

1. Watch before second 10, he's not closing (4 lines between him and the truck). Watch again starting at second 15, he starts closing. (down to under 3 lines between him and the truck, and less than one between him and the first car). Proof to me he sped up, since you can see the blue truck didn't slow down (passes the other truck at a constant rate).
2. He sped up like a car...brakes work better than acceleration on a semi., he should have gone with the larger pedal.
3. No, traffic ahead seems to go the same speed throughout. Traffic is clear ahead of them, and no brake lights from the truck.
4. Yes, you can hear it. Case closed IMO, and a concession of your point #one. He sped up, blocked the spot (illegal), and caused an accident he could have easily avoided (also illegal, right of way or not), therefore his fault.
5. Yes, definitely unsafe passing on the right. In Cali, it's also illegal to stay in the fast lane if someone is going faster than you..."Slower Traffic MUST Keep Right" signs are everywhere, just ignored....so a bit of a wash that, in this state. Truck and car were doing their thing both in the wrong lane by our rules.
Also important, the truck driver was distracted by being on the phone. Distracted driving is actionable everywhere, no matter what the phone laws in your state are.

The first big fish I caught here in N Cali, my 'friend' pushed me to eat the still beating heart to gain the fish's power/appease the fish gods (even though I don't eat fish). It was about the same size as the one in the video. I made it pump some coke-a-cola through itself first...but I'm not at all sure it helped the taste! I can't begin to describe the feeling of it beating in my throat/stomach. ;-)
