Titanfall Gameplay video @ 1440p

fuzzyundies says...

I am a graphics coder at Respawn. I understand where the claim of a "decade-old-engine" comes from, but I assure you we entirely rewrote the renderer backend and heavily modified the rest.

I'm not an authorized spokesman so I can't confirm anything that we haven't already talked about publicly, but pretty basic insight confirms what I've said: for example, all modern PCs and consoles use DX11-class GPUs and the "decade-old-engine" you mention only supported DX8 and DX9.

Anyway, I'm really glad you like the game! We've worked hard on it and hope it does well.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Epic Volvo Trucks Commercial!

OK. I know it's an ad, but that is seriously impressive. Not just for JCVD, but pretty damn impressive for the trucks too. Backwards with that kind of control...wow.

Inside the World's Most Dangerous Amusement Park

They have an alpine slide at one of the great wall sites near Beijing - it's really fun but pretty dangerous. The employees just yell at you to go faster too, which is pretty funny.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

We can definitely disable your account permanently, but pretty tough to delete all of a a person's contributions and can leave big holes. Votes, comments, quotes etc. it's the nature of this kind of site. Sorry.

(Five minutes later)

"Now where'd I put my damn phone? Ah here it is. Hello, Charleese's mom? Can I speak with Charleese, please? Hey Charleese. Member how you said you wanna dump Chuckie and go out with me? Yeah well check the news channel. Yeah that's Chuckie all right. Naah I dunno what the hell he was thinkin, but pretty sure he's gonna be somewhere else for a while. Attempts to pull over a cop

TheSofaKing says...

Not sure about Detroit, but pretty universally the police are exempt from traffic laws while in the execution of their duties. People can argue what constitutes "execution of duties" if they want, but police are required at a moments notice, to have to exit their vehicle quickly and deal with dangerous situations... Nuts like this think they don't wear them because they are somehow flaunting their extreme authority... as if a cop is driving around around thinking "look at me and all my badass power,,,seatbelt dangling to the side... a symbol of how superior I am to the writhing, whining masses who must wear them". Hope this idiot enjoys his jail time.

Charges back when this video were made (this is if every charge was applied)

$50 Hardware install (This was before BBY reduced the charge for installs because of the triviality of it to those of us whom are actual technicians.)

$130 For repair service (This includes Installing Clients OS, All drivers, All Windows Updates, Necessary Program updates {Flash and such}, Full physical computer cleaning, Post Operation Procedures of testing every function from a cold boot and doing that three times before computer is certified complete.)

Cost of hard drive is up in the air, but Given 2009 I remember drives there being in the $90-$130 range depending on capacity, spin rate and such.

$40 - They also probably recommended new Anti-Virus software as that is SOP if the client says theirs is out of date, don't have any or is about to expire.

Which leaves $270. This was the base cost for DATA RECOVERY services (Well, it was $259 for the base, but pretty damn close)

Of course the cost of the recovery would be different depending on the drive.

Level 1 Recovery = $259
Level 2 = $580
Level 3 = $1600 or more depending on the work needed for recovery. These are sent to Kroll OnTrack for clean room recovery or failed RAID arrays, or any OS other than Windows (back in this age at least)

Things were made much cheaper since then, but even for that work and scope of work, it's pretty standard.

You can probably tell I used to be one of the white shirts; and actually kept a department stocked of ACTUAL techs during my tenure.) Feel free to ask away if you have any other questions.

580 dollars for a disk replacement?? LOL, such theft.

That could include data recovery from the old disk, which is always very expensive (as the old disk is supposed to be broken at this point).

I have the solution to the US's gun problems: ban guns.
BUT BUT BUT the 2nd amendment! Ah, but the second amendment say people are allowed to keep their arms. No-one is proposing mass amputations (as if the health system could manage it!).
Oh, that's not what "arms" means?
Fine, solution 2.0: still banning guns but everyone gets a sword.
Seriously, this is not as crazy as it sounds.
1. It's hard to use a sword well. People will have to train with it for years. This kind of training builds character and discipline.
2. Swords are awesome.
3. It's possible to defend yourself using a sword, but pretty hard to hold up a bank with one.
4. Gun fights are boring, sword fights are epic.

I used to think Australian accents were sexy on women, but after being to Thailand, and overhearing so many Aussie's there on Hol-ee-day, it just became so annoying. Not quite Valley-Girl accent, but pretty close.
This girl reminded me of that.
There are several Australian accents. I myself speak with an 'Adelaide' accent, which is considered more educated (or poncey, depending on your point of view). This girl has a broader east coast accent and I particularly hate how they say "Ostraiwya" instead of 'Australia'.

There's an L in there you morons!
